Gemheart |
"I can go in there if need be. I have a small store of psionic potential that I use to create the armor you see me wearing, and in preparation for this cold door, I have prepared it to shield me against the cold somewhat. The protection is not all-powerful, but it will keep me alive long enough to look around." Gemheart pipes up, speaking perhaps the most in one stretch that you have heard from the warrior.
Thomas of the Blue Blade |
Oh hey, Shiny and Silent can make more than one sentence at a time. Good for you, Big Guy. Any chance you can give someone else that armor?
He looks Mundarion
You got an endurance spell we can use?
Mundarion |
Mundarion replies, "I can prepare and cast an Endure Elements spell, but it only protects against standard weather conditions. It is no use against cold effects that are severe enough to cause actual damage. I don't know any spells that are good against actual damage."
De'arv'ki Paddfoot |
As a test of the object's abilities, De'Arv'Ki pulls off her sleeves, which transform into a pair of cloth tubes, whispers something and replaces them, and is covered in a cold weather outfit now. She proceeds to advance to door and opens it a crack, to see if the suit can protect her.
Midiotoziggeroto |
I have an amazing mind. By watching others I have learnt that not all share this gift. In fact very few do. I'm not trying to brag but it can do things like keep me aloft in the air or create connections between places that I can then step through. It can also protect me fromthat cold, though probably only for a minute or two. While I would probably be slowed down, I believe that me and Gemheart could go in and look around. Also, I am VERY curious what's behind there!
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai |
"That was what I was thinking Midioto. I overlooked Gemheart's capabilities. I think you two are our best bet." Yess thinks for a moment.
" Is there any other aid anyone can provide these two? I am sadly lacking in providing any kind of help whatsoever..."
As Dee appears to want to open the door to the ice chamber again, Yess moves to the utmost edge of the room, even unto the door they entered this room by in the first place. i.e. where we first came in from…
De'arv'ki Paddfoot |
:D
Ice bothan
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
Mundarion is easily able to find De'arv'ki's bead, on the floor in front of the door (on the warm side).
Yessai backs up more than 100 feet.
De'arv'ki opens the door slightly--just enough for a blast of air to escape.
From the back of the room, Yessai (and anyone else who moves back before De opened the door) is not affected! De, and anyone else close by, however, are exposed to the cold. Another 1 cold damage (since it was so quick), and a DC 15 fortitude save negates. De gets a +5 to the save due to her outfit.
Also, did anyone examine the former zombie's bodies?
Deranged_Maniac_Ben |
Both of the (stronger) zombies (the weaker ones are still inside the ice chamber) were carrying concealed wands--probably used by whoever controlled them when he/she was present.
Also, examining the bodies reveals that whilst alive, these were not humanoids, but outsiders of some sort.
Mundarion |
Taking "10" on both spellcraft checks gives Mundarion an effective result of 21 for each wand.
Mundarion says, "I have good news. These zombies were carrying wands that will prove useful. One of them is a wand of Cure Light Wounds ."
Mundarion hands that wand over to Thomas.
"The other is a wand of Resist Energy, Cold . I'm not sure yet how many charges these have, but if there are enough then I can protect everybody against the cold."
Thomas of the Blue Blade |
Yoink. So Iomedea DOES listen to my prayers!
Thomas takes the wand and turns to De'arv'ki.
You're looking kinda pale over there, I mean despite having fur... and... stuff. Look, you need some healing?
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai |
Yess pulls a face, the feral rictus that passes for a smile.
"Yes, relatively speaking they are relatives of a sort. Once, my people and those - githzerai, were human much like Thomas, but enslaved by beings of great evil and psychic power. Illithids - the dread mind flayers.
Over millennia after we sundered their hold on us our two branches of the genetic line parted and evolved - my people were warlike and violent, rapacious - the githzerai in stark contras studious, stealthy and contemplative.
The order I belong too shares much in common with our githzerai cousins, so I do not carry the dark enmity for them that my githyanki brethren do. If you asked a typical githyanki if these were her relatives she would likely kill you for the "insult". Fools."
Yessai ponders the dead, checking their cheekbones, teeth, eyes and other physical characteristics as a mother might check her child.
"May you rest now in greater peace than this place has so far provided…"
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai |
I think your supposition is in error. From my understanding we are all from different planes and cosmologies. That is why I used both names, to help everyone else understand something they may never have heard of...
Midiotoziggeroto |
High stress, low posts :(
Midioto watches as De pulls off her sleeves and repositions them, taking on the image of a cat in a blanket.
Cool! You have one of those too?
Midioto then pulls off his own set of armbands and replaces them, donning a new bright golden-yellow parka with fur around the face of its large hood. He then also takes out his slate grey mask and dons it. Now completely covered from head to foot, he lets out a menacing moan I am the Punisher! FEAR ME!!
The sight might have been anything but comical if not for Midioto failing to surpress a laugh from within. A laugh cut short when De opened the door.
fort save: 1d20 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 5 = 19
Geez thats cold! Warn a guy when you do that eh?
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
K. Planes: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Ooh! Nice wands. That resist cold one should help significantly.
Ya the thought of a mindflayer eating my brain. Shudder...
The split between the two factions was pretty brutal, from what i can tell. One theory goes on about how the litch king gained his powers from canabalizing the other tribe.
But my knowledge is second hand at best.
He glances over at Yess, not that you could tell because of the mask.
Thomas of the Blue Blade |
No problem Wizard

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Thomas does his traditional priestly duties of saying a prayer for the dead.
May they rest in piece
De'arv'ki Paddfoot |
"Your... Illithidssss?... ssssound ssssimilar to the... Yaggol of my home. Sssswamp-dwelling dictatorssss,... they have given ussss. no reason not to... force them further back... from the civil lands..."
Mundarion |
Mundarion says, "Thanks. That feels a lot better."
Mundarion brandished the wand of Resist Elements as he says, "So who besides me wants to make use of the Resist Elements spell before we go into the room?"
Mundarion will use the wand to cast the spell on himself and anybody else who requests it.
Midiotoziggeroto |
Ya, sure! Hit me up.
Midioto accepts a charge from the wand, he then goes over to the doors and opens them again (not thinking that there might still be dangers on the other side, beyond the cold)
Hooo! That's cold! Almost refreshing. Hey Vyre, do you feel cold in that gem there?
Mundarion |
Mundarion hits Midio with a charge from the wand when he asks for it.
40 charges left in the wand. How much, if any, time does Mundarion have left on his casting of Gravity Bow ?
Mundarion takes up a position slightly behind the "front line" where he has a reasonable field of fire.
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai |
Yess moves forward with Gemheart, fellblade drawn and buckler forward.
Swift Action: change inimica to Blood Zone. If five minutes have elapsed since combat, Inimica has run out, and ignore this.
Auto-assuming Midioto isn't really up front so much as *POP*'ing from place to place. ;)
