POP! Midioto is now sitting upsidedown on the roof in a mantra position and stays that way for a few seconds as his aura changes from an electric yellow to a warm orange. Full round action to change my active energy type to fire.
He then does another jump and appears next to Gemheart. POP!
Here. Try this
When he says "this" an intangable field of fire appears in front of Midioto and is hurled at the door dealing 2d6 + 2 ⇒ (2, 6) + 2 = 10 fire damage.
cast elemental push. 3PP.

Yess' teeth chatter in the cold, her grip on the fell blade in her hands leaving her already pale knuckles looking translucent. With a hint of red where the blood in her veins attempts to provide warmth.
"A planar fortress. No day. No night. No hunger. So. No n-need for all th-thiss….discomfort. Worse than s-sleeping on a pallet back in the ascetics training barracks. C-c-c-ccold."
The annoyed Githyanki keeps an eye on the path they have lately traveled (i.e. the rear) for any signs of ambush.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai
I know. ;) But I figured the cold still seeps in, just doesn't do any HP damage. Yess is merely being petulant.

Mundarion finds a trap door, camouflaged as it is the same color as the floor. It is not locked, however, opening it reveals a pitch black space, too dark even for darkvision see Deeper Darkness.
What you can tell is that the room underneath you is much warmer than the one you are in, possibly warmer than the room you came from.
Midio melts the ice, revealing a large portcullis. With the ice gone, you can plainly hear a thumping sound behind the door.
Mundarion
Mundarion points out the trap door. He says, "This is probably worth looking into, but I'm not sure just yet how to get light down there. I wouldn't suggest going down there until we have a solution for that."
Mundarion goes to check out the portcullis.
Perception check: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
Now if I could just get results like that more often. :-)

Thomas casts light on a copper piece and tosses it in the trap door.
perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
So we have a choice between the unknown horror behind the door or the unknown horror that is assuredly lurking in the creepy darkness. I vote for the dark, I can deal with the darkness.
Mundarion
Mundarion comments, "If I have figured this out correctly it will take a level 3 Daylight spell or similar effect to cancel the magical darkness. That will leave the lighting conditions down there the way they would normally be. If they would normally be pitch black then we would need another light source in addition to the Daylight spell in order to actually see anything. As trap happy as this place is I would prefer not to go down there unless we can see."
"I would also note that the portcullis was meant to be found, and the trap door was meant to he overlooked. I think that if we open the portcullis we will likely have a major fight on our hands or some other severe test. I think that what we want is likely down through the trap door somewhere. But all I know for sure is that I don't have access to a Daylight spell."
Deranged_Maniac_Beth
As Thomas's coin falls into the trap door its light is quenched out. A couple seconds later it clanks against a floor.
"I think," says Vyrellis, "that beyond the portcullis the room is full of deadly traps. Whatever creature is in there may even be a previous victim. Down the trap door...I do not know. I thought this was the lowest level in the Pyramid."
Thomas of the Blue Blade

Thomas didn't know about the Deeper Darkness thing, so it'd be in character for him to do the typical caster thing.
You never know with these evil mastermind people. This could be an elaborate trap that we were meant to find. You never know. But I don't like the sound of that thing, and the eternal darkness doesn't sound like a summer vacation either. Hey Scrolls, you got any traps we can rig on the door?
Mundarion
The ioun torch uses a Continual Flame spell. The question then becomes who cast the spell? If it was a sorcerer or a wizard then it is a 2nd level spell and can't cancel the Deeper Darkness . If it was cast by a cleric then it is a 3rd level spell and it should be able to cancel the Deeper Darkness . The only way to know for sure is to try.
Mundarion says, "That may or may not work depending on who cast the spell. It might be worth a try."

Well then, ah.. hmm... never listed that, i guess i'll have to leave it up to the RNG. 1-50 its divine, 51-100 its arcane, i guess
RNG please smile...: 1d100 ⇒ 12
And divine it is...

"Well, if there issss no... other way to tesssst it..."
De'Arv'Ki shrugs of her backpack and proceeds to climb across the roof of the trap door room, to expose the Ioun Torch to the darkness...
Climb(Take 10): 10 + 21 = 31
Lol, i am totally a Xenomorph >_< EDIT: correction, i climb mildly worse (one less)
Xenomorph homebrew
Mundarion
And to think that I had decided not to prepare either a light or dancing lights cantrip. :-(
Mundarion looks down into the room beyond the trap door to see if he can see Thomas's lighted coin when De moves the ioun torch into range of it. Should be 40 feet for those with low-light vision.
Thomas of the Blue Blade

I would see it too in that case
The obvious answer is that Dev harnesses the fundamental cosmic powers of cats to bend reality to her will. All cats do that right?
Midiotoziggeroto
Midioto watches De with a look of mirth on his face.
You seem to be trying to do that the hard way De. Why don't we just take Vyrel and drop him down the hole and see if he screams?
... What? It was a joke!
Midioto then POP!s to the space in the air directly below where De has climbed and "standing" vertically.
Here, give me the stone.
With anotherPOP! Midioto is hovering above the hole with his arm outstretched and he let's go of the stone.
Instead of falling, the stone hovers there before desending slowly about two feet into the hole.
[Ooc]I cast defy gravity on the ioun stone. 3PP. Then cause it to sink a few feet into the darkness. Actually it only lasts 40 minutes so I shuold probably recast it on myself at some point, so I'll do that as well. 3PP.

Here you are @Thomas...
Cat-Buttered toast antigrav
@Midio, the stone floats 1-3' from me at all times, so i can just cling to the roof and have it move through the darkness, which will allow me to determine if it works...
Deranged_Maniac_Beth
De'arv'ki's floating torch dimly illuminates the area. Empty darkness streches down for about 20 feet before giving way to normal light. In total the floor is about 60 feet below the trap door. There are no ladders of any kind--the only ways to get down are to jump or fly.
From up high you cannot hear or see anything in the room below.
The only other thing you can easily see is a normal-looking passageway, without a door, leading to the south.
Sorry guys, long week. I'll have more tomorrow.
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai
Yess peers into the chthonic darkness, occasionally glancing around the frigid chamber to make sure new ice zombies are nit emerging from any pillars...
Stowing her oversize blade at her back (no mean feat), she cups her hands and calls down to the intrepid Catfolk and Elan.
"What do you see Dee? Will we need a rope? Or maybe Midioto can ferry us down..."
Midiotoziggeroto
theres lots of things that could be funny. Anyone got a laser pointer? Dancing lights? How about some sticky tape? Or a box? Anyone got a box?
Midioto slowly decends past the darkness (he floats down, not teleporting) untill he is about 30ft down and can see clearly.
Its really warm down here. And i can see a long hallway and a big door. Vyrel says that there are infernal ruins on the door, though i know not what they say. I could get you guys down here, but it would take up a lot of power. Still, i say lets go!
Hmmm. Gem, how much can you carry?
Midiotoziggeroto
I didnt think that knowing infernal would fit well wih the type of character i had created :p i do know celestial tho!
Speaking of speaking, are we all still speaking elven?
That doesnt tell me much! What i want to know is wether you can carry someone. Wether i have to levitate each of you down one by one or if i just have to levitate Gemheart while he carries each of you up and down. I am going to attempt to turn Gemheart into an elevator!
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai
Vyrellis observes the doors:
"I believe those runes are written in Infernal. I cannot tell what they say, can any of you?"
Just checking - is Vyrellis with Dee? Just noting that at this stage three of us can't actually see anything down there. We (Gemheart, Yess, Mundarion) are looking down into a black pit and receiving intel from Dee and Midioto…right?
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai
Yess has absolutely no idea what Midioto can or can't do, and is at a loss to determine the relative safety of either option. She looks around nervously…eyeing the cold door that keeps banging, the pillars, the door they entered from, and the rime beginning to form on all of her gear...
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
Midiotoziggeroto
Aww heck, lets just get everyone down :)
Worry about conserving PP later ^_-
Midiotos head rises out of the inky blackness
Hmm. Ya lets just get everyone down there quick. Gem, ill start with you so that if we have problems, the big guy will be down there first.
Midioto then tries to smile sinscerly, and not nessisarly succeeding.
So my friend! Just step over the hole when you are ready to go!
Midioto will ready an action to cast Defy gravity on Gemheart if he steps over the hole. Then he will spend move actions to desend him down at a rate of 20ft.
And leaving him dangling 3 inches off the ground for a few seconds, for fun :)
De'arv'ki Paddfoot

"Yessssai, i can ssssling a rope down and climb down mysssself afterwardssss..."
De'Arv'Ki climbs back and retrieves her rope and piton kit from her pack, then proceeds to lower her pack most of the way to the ground in the room, driving a piton into the ground to hold the rope in place.
rope = 50', drop = 60', ya'll have acrobatics right ;D
Thomas of the Blue Blade
|
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (8) + 15 = 23
Thomas leaps at the rope and swings down stylishly in a rolling landing.
You really need to learn not to rely on all the mind manic stuff Mido.
Midiotoziggeroto
But.. But.. Its MIND MAGIC STUFF! Its fun! Why wouldnt you use it? What would you use instead? Swing a hammer at it? Opps, sorry Gemheart.
Sulking, Midioto POP!s into the chamber up above, so that he can release the rope and pition after everyone has gone down.
