After the party awakens Thomas addresses Yessai
I thank you Yessai, for giving blood in my defense. It is only fair by my goddess' teachings I offer you the healing that She blesses me with. Please accept my aid in patching any wounds you may have suffered in my company. then to everyone In fact, I offer healing to all of you should you require it
Feel free to roll the dice for my wand of CLW if you want it till your full HP
After that he will a dress the head
I assure you that vanquishing that fiend is my first priority. In order to do that I need to keep these people alive as they need to take care of the hoards of minions that these kinds of characters inevitably keep company with

Oh wow! A princess! It is very nice to meet you, Princess Vyrellis your highness, maam, uhh sir, uhhh, umm.
Anyways! Whats it like, this kingdom of yours? Can you tell me stories of your homeplace?
Its facinating here! I am meeting so many new people and seeing so many new sights! It makes me glad to have come here, even if "here" is a prison.
Here i met this dragonborn named Nightblade, hes half dragon! Can you believe that? And i also met this guy named Gemheart and guess what? Hes all metal! I have no idea how that can be possible!
Heh, then there is this catfolk named De'Arv'Ki, its a really long and weird name. And hard to say.. But i think that we are becoming good friends and i really like that. I imagine his fur is really soft! And he got soaked today! Ahahaha! He looks soo funny now!
Oh ya, i also got to prank a 2-headed giant! Who knew there was such a thing? Do you have any friends? I would love to hear the stories of a Princess!
This here is my chance to have Midioto talk like a child to a friend, and honestly that was always my favorite part of the books i read. Its what really brought life to the characters i was reading about. If you dont mind, can we do a bit of that here? Continuing on the conversation, even as the adventure continues?
And feel free to evesdrop there Padfoot XD
Midiotoziggeroto
we all healed our char level plus our con mod for resting right?
Funny thing. The thin, spry wizard heals way faster than the big, burley barbarian :p
19hp, healing 5 per night=3.8 nights to fully heal.
Barbarian with 16 con and the toughness feat
54hp, healing 7per night=7.7 nights to fully heal XD
Right! So which way do we go? I vote left! Again!
After we have gone on a ways, we can talk more about Karvakos, when we have a bit more privacy.
Mundarion
Mundarion got up, and proceeded to take off his armor and his shirt to get access to his spell book. He then studied as he needed to in order to replace his spells. Once he finished he put his spell book away and got dressed again. He said, "I'm ready when everybody else is."
Deranged_Maniac_Beth
300 years ago, shortly before I came into the Pyramid, we were attacked by a fierce legion of devils. They dispelled the magic holding water out of our cities, causing much of the population to drown. But we were successful in fighting them off. Yet..."
She sniffs a bit, trying to hold in tears,
"I never got to see my world rebuilt. I was trapped here instead."
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai
So is the CLW wand caster level 1 - 1d8 + 1 hp? Sorry for the obtuse question, I don't have much truck with wands in my campaigns..
Yessai is grateful for Mundarion's arcane aid in getting dry.
Yessai sleeps fitfully, as if troubled by strange dreams or nightmarish reveries. Upon waking she dons her fell regalia and archaic armor before sitting crosslegged and spending a few moments in what looks like deep meditation or earnest consideration or concentration.
She rises, and notes that she is still somewhat battered and bruiised. Accepting Thomas aid, she grips his shoulder companionably, holding his gaze as if taking his measure.
"Likewise good Thomas, I thank you for your succour - and your presence of mind - you were a bastion of will when the winged harridans stole our reason."
Yess then moves over to Midioto and the head.
"How is our hypercapitated friend?"
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai
DMB - are the dragonborn still with us? DId they have any interesting ineracitons with the sahuagin?
Also, char sheet updated. Thanks.

Gunna state it one last time, De'Arv'Ki is female! Have to laugh, everyone keeps getting it wrong >_<
"Left will do, forrrr the time being, Small hunterrrr"
Midiotoziggeroto
Oops >.> ok ill get it right from now on ^.^
more chat with Vyrellis coming later!
Whos hypercaptivated? If you mean me, im doing GREAT! And excited! Lets get going!
Midioto then goes over to the door on the left balcony and looks it over, as well as getting on his hands and knees qnd trying to see if there is a crack big enough to see under.
Perception Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
I got this trick where i can port across doors if i can actually see far enough under them. Here, De, come her and see if you can spot any traps.
Or we could just walk through it like normal people...
what do you think DM? It that too much of a stretch?
Mundarion
Right now I'm rearguard. It's Midio and Paddfoot that are likely to need tank support shortly.
Mundarion takes up rearguard with his bow ready and an arrow nocked. He tries to find a spot (if such can be found) where he and Nightwing can both watch the party's rear and just maybe get a shot towards the front if that proves necessary (though primary emphasis will be on the rear).

I'll take back rank with mindblade manifested.
Oh Lady of Righteousness, please grant me and my companions guidance in this coming battle.

The door opens to a small staircase heading down. At the bottom is one end of a hallway, 20 feet wide. A statue of a robed figure stares down the length of this wide hallway toward an exact duplicate on the other end.
On the other side of the hallway (not the other end, across the short direction), there is another door.
No one appears to be in this room, but you can hear the deep breathe of some sort of beast.
Near the other end of the hallway, there are cracks in the floor forming a 20 foot square, as if that part of the floor is disconnected from the rest.

perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Thomas points to a spot near the end of the hallway
That section of the floor seems almost disconnected from the rest

just starfed new job working 10h so this will be short
also, why is everybody crowding up the back XD up front is where all the action is!
So is tbis what the map looks like? Trying to get a better idea.

Where? Over there? Ok so dont go that way...
Instead Midiotoziggeroto heads down towards the first statue and looking at it. He then slaps it across.the cheeck to see if it will move, half expecting.to have to jump back.
Move action to move to the statue and slap it, standard action readied incase he senses movement, either from the statue or down the hall, if he senses even the slightest thing, he will port back up the stairs.
Ok,not too short :) and midioto is up near the front :)

That should do it…Thanks Thomas

Yess sticks to the middle with Gemheart, and notices nothing untoward. She gasps as Midioto zips off and half reaches out a spindly arm to caution the little Elan, before realizing the futility of any admonition…
He is certainly a live wire!

Seeing the obvious curiosity in Midito's eyes, Thomas will try to yell out before he pops over there
Hold it, it might be trapped
If I have time I'll walk over to it and detect magic
Midiotoziggeroto
Seeing the reaction of the other statue on the other side of the hall, Midioto immediately pops back to the rest of the group. POP!
Yikes! I was right. That DID do something! Hmmm. Maybe detect magic is the safer way to go. What do you see Thomas?
And with that, he casts detect psionics/magic and takes another look at the statue he had just "assaulted".

Also thought about this some more, and will have my crossbow ready to go. the rest of my stuff is within easy reach right now
also, is anyone else from the southern hemisphere, everyone seems to be posting a 4:00am for me...
Deranged_Maniac_Beth
As Thomas walks towards the statue, the floor he is standing on suddenly tilts wildly as the wall to the south falls away. Both pivot in such a way as to hurl him down a chute to the south. The stench of rot and decay emerges from the chute as you go hurtling down it. The whole construction, a 20 foot section of the hall,
spins 90 degrees, so that the wall becomes the chute, the floor
becomes the wall, and a new floor snaps into place from below. Thomas falls 10 feet into a pit below the floor and takes 1d6 ⇒ 6 falling damage. DC 18 climb check to get out.
The new wall scoops up what was in the pit and drops it on the new floor. What was in the pit was a large creature who scans the party with its strange eyes.
This creature looks like a bloated ovoid covered with a rocklike skin. A
vinelike stalk about 2 feet long rises from the top of its body
and bears the two eyes. Its mouth— which is simply a hole filled with razor sharp teeth—is in the center of the mass. The creature shuffles
about on three thick, sturdy legs and has two long tentacles covered in
rough, thorny protrusions. The tentacles end in leaflike appendages
covered in more thorny growths.
Anyone using Detect Magic/Detect Psionics notices that the creature is glowing with a moderate aura.
"That's the Charnel Lord", whispers Vyrellis in Elven, "It has been here almost as long as the Pyramid itself."
This creature is an otyugh, a subterranean trash-eating creature. It also occasionally eats living creatures, grappling them with tentacles and infecting them with diseases.
While Thomas is trapped in the pit, the creature lurches towards the rest of the group with its tentacles!
Charnel Lord initiative: 1d20 ⇒ 19
De'arv'ki initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Gemheart: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Midio: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Mundarion: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Thomas: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
Yessai: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Initiative order:
Thomas--23
Mundarion--21
Charnel Lord--19
De'arv'ki--13+
Midio--13-
Yessai--7
Mundarion
Right now it seems the best thing for Mundarion to do is put an arrow in that critter. Fortunately he has the Precise Shot feat so hopefully he can get a clear shot at it.
Longbow attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 Gets an additional +1 if critter is within 30 feet.
Rolling again to confirm if it's a crit.
crit check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Possible, I guess. Only GM knows for sure. I'll make three damage rolls. One for the regular hit, one for the poszible crit and one for the sneak attack damage. The first 2 damage rolls get an additional +1 if the critter is within 30 feet of Mundarion.
regular damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
crit damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
sneak: 1d6 ⇒ 4
knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Deranged_Maniac_Beth
Thomas attempts to climb out, but slips. Fortunately there does not appear to be anything dangerous in the pit....
Mundarion, the critical hit confirmation rules are altered in my house rules, as explained in the campaign tab. That has been there almost since recruitment opened.
I know, it is easy to forget differences in house rules if you are in a bunch of games:)
In this case, though, it didn't matter, that's a critical hit.
Mundarion's arrow flies into the creature's mouth, causing it to wince slightly, but its mystic nature allows it to resist much of the damage.
The Charnel Lord reaches out with one of its tentacles towards Gemheart:
tentacle: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
and misses.
...
And the other tentacle moves towards Midio!
tentacle: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
and also misses.
It's teeth move towards Gemheart:
Bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
But its teeth deflect harmlessly off of Gemheart's astral suit.
Midiotoziggeroto
well i WAS about to unleash a massive psionic assault on the creature but then i made a knowledge check....
Also, i cant believe the +1 enchant on my armour just saved my hide right there o.O
Knowledge arcana: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
imagine that had been a to hit roll... So i beat the DC by 12, anything else i might know?
Wow! Check it out! Its an Otyugth, isnt that COOL!! Oh, and dont use magic guys. I get the feeling that it would just suck up anything you would throw at it.
It sounds like the trap has sealed thomas off from us, so no line of sight, but he can climb out. My question is do i have line of sight to thomas/inside the trap?
Hey Thomas! Hang on a sec and ill get you out of there!
Midioto steps back, and then with a series of poping noises, Midioto dissapears and Thoma appears in his place and Midioto appears on the ther side of the big nasty! POP! POP! POP!
5ft step, cast dimentonal swap on Thomas then port out of the pit
Midioto dissapears with a POP! and reapears behind the monster, a thick, vicious stream of goop erupting from his hands and covering the floor. Dance!
move action to teleport behind the Otogyth and standard action to cast Ectoplasmic Sheen underneath it. If it is large, the spell effects just it. If it is medium then it also affects the squares directly behind it and to the side (it has a 10ft area).
1 pp, the Otygh must make a dc 16 ref save or fall prone and a dc 10 acrobatics check if it wants to move.
Deranged_Maniac_Beth
If it eats a large amount of magic created by one individual, its mind is warped into the shape of that individual. This creature probably has an outlook on life similar to whoever created the Pyramid.
There is a crack in the floor large enough to see down (you have line of sight to Thomas).
Are you manifesting defensively or willing to take an AoO from the otyugh?
Midiotoziggeroto
I was originally hoping to just 5ft step back but if that is not enough then i guess i will have to cast defensively. Something to keep in mind, especially since i intend to be close to the fight when i cast :(
DC 19 Concentration Check: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Spell goes off fine this time :)
Midioto swaps places with Thomas, who is now standing in front of the Otyugh and Midioto then teleports behind the monster, some 15ft behind it.
Hey guys, ive been thinking, its really resistant to spells, powers and most weapons, but it should be weak against elements that dont share those properties. Can anyone PUNCH it really hard? Gemheart?
Vassekh-Arokh Yessai
Ok, seeing as Dee is MIA I'll go too
Yess fills her blade with fell power, then strikes at the foul horror beast. Though her swing is mighty, her aim is not.
Swift Action: Expend 1 point from Terror Pool for +2 bonus to damage for 3 rounds.
Standard Action: Attack.
Shonnnn![/dice: 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 6 [BAB, +1 Str, +1 Mwk, -2 Large]
Spapp![/dice: 2d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2, 8) + 1 + 2 = 13 [+1 Str, +2 Terror Pool]
Terror Pool Points remaining - 4.

Oh, right, I forgot about this post:
BTW, i have no internet at home, so i won't be on at all for the weekend. if you need may character to do anything, just assume i follow midio and the group
For now, someone else may take De's turn for her (since it is past the 24 hour point). When De gets back Monday, then we'll discuss how to handle combat over weekends. (If De needs to make a significant game-altering decision during a future weekend, then we'll probably just put things on hold...at the rate this combat is going I doubt that will happen this weekend, though.)
De'arv'ki Paddfoot
|
Well, i'm back. sorry yessai for not being here, not having internet at home is a pain in the ass. as for tactics, DMB, i added a spoiler to my character page that should be helpful. if it is lacking, just tell me and i'll add the lacking situation/s to it.
De'Arv'Ki, hearing midio's claim about magic, releases a vial of drow poison from her right wrist sheath and applies it to her Wyroot katana, then she calls out "Midio, Thomas, do either of you need a weapon?"
De'Arv'Ki will slide her Mwk cold iron katana to the first one who needs a weapon, giving her crossbow and 20 bolts to the second who says yes (if at all)
De'Arv'Ki will use a swift action to use vanishing trick and will move behind the beast
Deranged_Maniac_Beth
The wall and floor creak, and start to move yet again. The new floor that the Charnel Lord is on is no more stable than the previous floor. Once again, the floor falls away, the wall becomes the floor, and a new wall snaps into place!
The Charnel Lord, Gemheart, and possibly De'Arv'Ki (if De vanishing tricked behind the creature) fall 10 feet into the pit and take falling damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6!
The new wall brings with it what had been in the bottom of the pit, although it looks much less threatening than the Charnel Lord: a swarm of rats, who probably live off of the filth in the pit. The rats will act on the same initiative count as the otyugh, to keep things simpler.
For those stuck in the pit: you have line of sight to the rest of the group, and it is a DC 18 climb check to get out.
De'arv'ki Paddfoot

Will presume that Thomas does not want a weapon...
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 11 + 20 = 32
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 20 + 5 = 37
Damage: 1d8 + 1d8 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (7) + (4) + 1 + (5, 3) = 20+Drow poison (DC13 fort, cure 1 save, effect; intial 1 min unconscious, 2ndary effect unconscious 2d4 hours)
Damage: 1d8 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (6) + 1 + (2, 1) = 10+Drow poison (DC13 fort, cure 1 save, effect; intial 1 min unconscious, 2ndary effect unconscious 2d4 hours)
De'Arv'Ki twist through the air as she falls, landing on her feet at the bottom of the pit (And taking no damage, love the acro :)), then proceeds to swing at the beast, striking it in the back.
