Backstory:

De'Arv Paddfoot spent most of her life as a simple hunter on the Plain of Dust, 3rd child to one of the hunters of the tribe. For many years she dwelled in her tribe, learning the trade of her elders; hunting, gathering, weaving, construction with hides. She lived a simple life and was set to take over from her father as the lead hunter when he retired.

This life was shattered when she chanced upon a group of travelers one day hunting on the plains. Bring them back to her village, she was horrified to learn that they were "Hunters of men", slavers by another name. They burned, pillaged and killed many of the tribesmen. When the battle was finally done, the father and sister of De'Arv had been slain. Of the slavers that attacked the tribe, only three were killed: a Dwarf, black of hair, cruel of heart, and deadly of blade; an Elf, black of heart and magic; and a Tiefling, who cackled as he sunder the chieftain's neck. For her crimes against the tribe, De'Arv was given the brand of 'Ki, traitor; expelled from the tribe; and was forced to renounce her life on the plains for ever more.

For many years she wandered the land, searching for some kind of release. She traveled the length and breadth of Ansalon, wandering from palanthas to Mt. nevermind. Eventually, she entered the thieves' guild of palanthas and adopted their for tenets:
Practice one's craft honorably.
Steal only from those who have more than they need.
Harm only those who would harm you or the defenseless.
Defy the Lord Knight and his regime.
It was around this time that her reach exceeded her grasp and she attempted to rob a wealth sell-sword, who promptly cut her throat and left her for dead, leaving her with a whispering, rasping voice forevermore.

For a time, De'Arv'Ki was nothing more than a common cut-purse, lifting those who were rich and cruel, sending small amounts back to the remains of her tribe on the other side of the land. After nearly a decade of this, she received a battered letter from her mother and brother, informing her that her "donations to the tribe" were no longer require; the new council had vote to allow her back to the tribe and to remove the 'Ki from her name. But the weight of too many years away from the tribe had stripped the tribe from De'Arv'Ki. She sent word back to the tribe that she would, in fact, continue to donate and would not be returning to the tribe, nor would she remove the 'Ki from her name: That was who she was, not who she is. After several weeks, a return letter from her brother informed her that her choice had been accepted with disquiet by the council, but had been accepted. He pledged his support to her whenever she so deemed it needed.

Not long after receiving this letter, she encountered several strangers in palanthas: A knight who was not a knight; An elf born only half a man; A kender of immense age and wisdom, possessing something unusual for a kender - a sense of fear. She attempted to lift the purse of the knight but was discovered in the attempt. Believing her life forfeit, she surrendered to the group and awaited death. When it was non-forthcoming, she raised her head in surprise. The face of the kender showed gentle amusement; the elf mild anger; and the knight only compassion. He spoke to her, stating "Dear child, is this how your tribe would have you repent? What ever happened to only taking from those that deserved it. Remember this encounter and these words, De'Arv'Ki Paddfoot, she of the brand. Est Solarus Oth Mithas, my honor is my life. Remember this in you journey...". With that said, a bright light filled De'Arv'Ki's vision, before she woke as if from a dream. She was in a laboratory, unused for hundreds of years, the only door locked and barred from the outside. Suddenly, a pair of disembodied eyes emerged from the dark and told her to follow. When she did, they lead her to a large disc formed by the five heads of the chromatic dragon. "Step through, child. He commands it of you..." said the voice of the knight. De'Arv'Ki looked about, and seeing no other choice, simply stepped through the portal...

Emerging in a strange city of doors, she was careful to mark the doorway that lead to her home, and set out to find the rich and relieve them of their unneeded coin. After several weeks of this, she found herself drawn to the bazaar district, where she saw a curious chase occur...

Physical description:

De'Arv'Ki stands roughly 5'8", with grey-tawny fur, flinty green eyes and a large scar encircling her throat. She generally has this covered with her scarf.

Her Monk's outfit is a custom made outfit, tailored to her unique species. Like many of her kind, she considers full clothing of the kind humans and demihumans wear to only be for the winter months. The main body of the outfit is a complex mesh of straps, buckles and ties, which form the basic form of the outfit. This is supplemented by a loincloth and breastband, which she wears only because of the custom of the non-plainsmen: like many of her people, their fur is thick enough to render these modesty items unneeded. The rest of her suit is formed of removable covers which strap down to the framework beneath, giving her suit a well tailored sizing. upon both shoulder coverings and the chest covering, there is a logo, showing a coin-purse resting on an open book, signifying that she is a cutpurse of Palanthas. Because the straps that form the basis of this suit are adjustable, De'Arv'Ki generally wears her light, thin mithral shirt beneath the entire suit.

De'Arv'Ki wears both Katana strapped to her back, with the scabbards held in place by ties to the suit beneath. The way she wears her scarf allows the hilts to be covered, so that when she is wearing both her backpack and scarf, the swords are all but invisible. The way in which she wears her scarf does not prevent her from drawing the blades easily, however. The crossbow she carries is attached to her by yet another complex system of straps, which ties it to the lower left of her back, with a quick release buckle in easy but not accidental reach. The crossbow itself is a object of her history; a large gouge near the arms of the caster show where she once defended herself against a longsword, whilst a small scrape is the mark of a rooftop chase to catch a renegade thief. The sides of the stock are inlaid with a image of the Palanthas thieves' guild, more evidence of her employment. The backpack she wears is similar to the rest of her storage gear, with straps and buckles holding many supplies on it. Her thieves' supplies are hidden in various places on her body: a belt pouch tied to her outfit on the left side of her ribs, below her arm; hidden within twin wrist sheaths hidden in the long fur of her arms and within a pocket hidden in her scarf. Guilty of thievery as life style, her coin is hidden in locations at odds with the normal traveler, to prevent counter-thieving.

Battle Tactics:

De'Arv'Ki will attempt to climb the nearest wall to a height of 20ft, beyond all melee retaliation. She will then use a full round action to tie herself to the wall with her rope and 2 pitons. After that, she proceeds to rain bolts down on the most dangerous target, with the order of priority being magi-ranged-skill monkey-Light armored-heavy armored. If a opponent shows that they are particularly dangerous, she will apply a dose of drow poison to one of her bolts, and attempt to make that opponent helpless and easily taken down.

If forced into melee combat, De'Arv'Ki will use a swift action to turn invisible, then move behind the strongest target and sneak attack with her Mwk Wyroot katana, remaining there to provide flanking. If she critical hits the target and has a Ki point spent, she will use a swift action to absorb the life point from her blade.

If she is damaged to 10HP or less, she will use a swift action to turn invisible, then attempt to climb out of combat, remaining close unless there are archers, and will rain bolts down as best she can. If archers are present, she will cut and run, and prepare an ambush further along in case others chase her/ the group cuts and runs too
