Works for me. I'm running PFS/SFS at a local con, so will be rather busy this weekend.
Garif Stonetoe |
Hey gang - just a heads-up that my schedule may go crazy fairly soon, as my work turns to cleaning up after some of the recent fires in California. I may discover I have time to check in and post, but I may not.
Iovo Apastron |
So far we have:
Security: Rees (Intimidate)
Pouring Drinks: Iovo (Sleight of hand)
Deliver Food: Kleines volunteered but not accepted (Diplomacy)
Feed & Tend the Animals: Garif (Handle Animal)
Optional:
Translate for Guests: (Linguistics)
Perform with the Bards: Damiar (Perform any)
I think Phinellippa can claim the Translator position.
We actually have three different people that could do the Handle Animals — Kleines, Rees or Garif.
Diplomacy we have either Damiar or Kleines.
Kleines Johann |
I'm fine with Diplomacy/Serving Food for Kleines.
Iovo Apastron |
Then we have all six!
Security: Rees (Intimidate)
Pouring Drinks: Iovo (Sleight of hand)
Deliver Food: Kleines (Diplomacy)
Feed & Tend the Animals: Garif (Handle Animal)
Optional:
Translate for Guests: Phinellippa (Linguistics)
Perform with the Bards: Damiar (Perform any)

^Sounds good! I took an unplanned day off yesterday to catch up on sleep but I'll be making some posting rounds very shortly.
Iovo Apastron |
I think many probably missed this at the end of the out of character directions.
You can also listen in on guests while you perform your tasks (extra Diplomacy check) to see what you can pick up in the way of small talk.
Also, is Diplomacy the only option for getting information here?
GM Ladile |
Ooh, yeah, everyone may attempt that extra Diplomacy check to pick up additional information if they wish.
The idea is that you're actively listening to the chatter and gossip that's happening during the course of the party and performing your tasks, maybe making a little small talk too. Perception would be an acceptable alternative to Diplomacy here and I'll entertain other options if the reasoning given seems sound.
Kleines Johann |
Sorry, I had missed that. Thanks, Bret.
Extra Diplo check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
GM Bret |
Hilary has a writing gig due today and I’m getting caught up on the various PbP.
Next Gameday I think that I’m going to hold myself back a bit more. Two tables plus a special is slightly more than I want to handle. I can handle them, but it does tend to make some of the stuff feel rushed.
Anyone object to waiting a day?
GM Ladile |
Hey folks, I'm out of time for updating at the moment (work night) but if I don't get some updates done before I head to bed in a few hours then you'll be first on my list to get to later tonight (work permitting)~
GM Ladile |
Hey guys, I've been feeling a bit run-down lately and have spent a fair bit of my free time sleeping and catching up on sleep. This is my weekend to work though and so I'll aim to get a post done either before I head to work tonight or perhaps later in the evening if my shift isn't too busy. Thanks for your patience!
Iovo Apastron |
Take care of yourself, Lady Ladile! Sleep is important to good health.
Iovo Apastron |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
I will be VERY amused if this turns into a lesson on why one should never leave a bored low level employee manning the store alone....

Me too!
GM Ladile |
I'm on Night #3 of 7 off from work but I've got a lot happening during this time such as painting, cleaning, errands, plus social obligations all of Saturday and a fair chunk of Sunday. Hence the sluggishness. But finally - a post!
Still better than work, though. I like what I do but after the Sat/Sun/Mon shifts I had my attitude going home Tuesday morning was best summed up as, "Smell ya later, don't call me."
Iovo Apastron |
Looks like our reward for talking our way past an encounter is a combined encounter? Ouch...
Kleines Johann |
A combined encounter with the wrong people in the wrong rooms.
GM Ladile |
Yeahhh...it's certainly possible to avoid both encounters or to only do one of them (Pikes) but it's tricky. At this tier the Perception to spot the trap was DC 30 and per the scenario/GM thread the Pikes will fight if you set off the trap, even if you managed to talk your way past them initially :\
Iovo Apastron |
So I would have had to roll a natural 20 in order to perceive it. Now I don't feel so bad missing it.
Wish I had remembered to use Mage Armor before going into the shop...this is likely to hurt.
Kleines Johann |
...pausing only a moment to grimace at Kleines' position.
I'm fine soloing these guys for a round or two, though I wish things were reversed. I could wreck face on those dretches.
Iovo Apastron |
My face will likely get wrecked by these dretches. :)
GM Ladile |
Apologies in advance because I got interrupted, like, a billionty times while trying to write that combat post. If I forgot or otherwise messed something up please don't hesitate to point it out!
GM Ladile |
Hey folks! I hope all is going well for everyone and that you're still enjoying yourselves.
Though we're obviously not going to be finished by the Gameday November 10th end date, I'm going to try to nudge us along a little more quickly just so we aren't still here by Christmas ;)
Iovo Apastron |
Sounds good to me.
Iovo Apastron |
Since the notice just went out to report games, should we roll for boons or do you want to just roll them all at once, GM Ladile?
GM Ladile |
I'll give everyone the chance to roll for their own boon - it's more fun that way! So...go ahead and make your rolls! A 19 or 20 wins a boon. If you win, please roll a d3 to determine which boon you'll receive.
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 11
I'll also need an email for any boon-winners we have.
Kleines Johann |
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 7
Iovo Apastron |
Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 6 Not this time.
GM Ladile |
Hum...as I see it, it looks like we've got a few options.
(1) Hmm, I can grant you a partial chronicle if it would be easier for you to drop and have one less game to worry about.
(2) We pause the action until after Thanksgiving and then resume.
I can work with either option but I want to run with whatever would be most convenient for not just Hmm but everyone else.
Iovo Apastron |
HMM told me she will do what the group wants here.
Given how slow it has been going, I don’t see any big issue with waiting.
Kleines Johann |
Waiting is fine with me. I'd rather finish the game/campaign with everyone than have Hmm drop just for the sake of three weeks.
GM Ladile |
Waiting is fine with me. I'd rather finish the game/campaign with everyone than have Hmm drop just for the sake of three weeks.
That was really my own preference too but I did want to offer the option just in case. So...okay! We'll hit the pause button until after Thanksgiving :)
Phinellippa Dioptrice |
Yeah, this is our last hurrah with this group, and it wouldn't be the same without Damiar!
GM Ladile |
Hey folks! Now that we're a week past Thanksgiving I wanted to finally check back in and see if you guys are ready to get going again?
Also, a brief recap on the plot thus far:
You've been tasked by retiring VC Roderus to investigate the rumors of fighting between the two VC Phlegos Dulm and Yulessa Wuul in the city of Katapesh. After doing some work and intelligence-gathering at Roderus' retirement party you found yourselves with a possible lead to go check out Dulm's Kotargo lodge while he and his agents were away attending said party. You went there and after a bit of chatter with the goblin desk clerk Lobda you managed to smooth-talk your way into Dulm's warehouse at the back of his potion shop, where you found a bunch of street toughs cleaning some suspiciously human-sized cages.
Despite your best efforts at being sneaky you set off a trap left behind on Dulm's desk and had to deal with the creatures that it summoned as well as the street toughs, who you learned belong to a call gang called the Pikes. Once the dust settled you interrogated Dulm's bookkeeper, a man named Tistin Snive and were able to take possession of a number of incriminating documents that seem to prove that Dulm has been dealing in slaves as well as paying off the Pikes to harass Wulessa Yuul's people to try and drive her out of the picture.
Upon your return to the party to share this information with Roderus you learned that the bard trio hired to play at the party - as well as do some investigation into slaver activity - were seemingly poisoned by the goblin helper Zig. Though the trio were saved Zig has been arrested and taken away - but neither you nor Roderus really believe that he was the culprit. After finishing your report of everything that happened at the Kotargo lodge Roderus bade you turn in for the night while he went over all of the documents you recovered, assuring you that come morning action will be taken to bring Dulm in and prove Zig's innocence. And this is where we will be resuming our story...
Iovo Apastron |
Hilary turns in her writing project on Monday. She is still behind with it.
Thanks for the recap, it does help!
GM Ladile |
No problem! I'm happy to push a restart back until Monday - though I'd appreciate the rest of you checking in as you can, so I know you're still seeing post notifications here :)
Kleines Johann |
Same with me. Here and ready to go, but fine with waiting until Hilary is done.
