Ok fluff and crunch published under this avatar, ready for your review MiniGM :)
Shiori, +1 for Shalelu!
Introducing Kazumi Yamada, Bard (arcane duellist).
She has flame red hair and golden eyes, always following everything going on around her with an easy smile on her face. Dressed in faded leathers, it looks like she spends more time outside than in, yet she has an openness in her manner that invites conversation and is very approachable. Moving with an easy and unhurried grace, she is full of energy and always curious to know more about anything and everything.
Even with sword sheathed on hip and well-worn bow slung across back, she still looks as ready for conversation as she does for action.
Others will know her either from the Rusty Dragon, where she occasionally helps out Ameiko waiting tables or singing, or else from meeting her whilst she patrols Sandpoint with Shalelu.
Kazumi is currently leaning on the bar of the Rusty Dragon sipping a tankard of ale. She recognises Exiel, but also respects that he's currently lost in his own thoughts, so doesn't disturb him for now, beyond a nod of recognition and a smile the next time he looks over.

:)
also for those that are chosen in the end whatever you special item is please name it and give it a bit of history. Though that does not have to happen right yet
Also make sure you all are familiar with the caravan rules
Talking about the special item, I may consider changing mine because I'm not sure that Sleeves of Many Garments is the best choice, but given that the hat of disguise is quite a bit more, it is what I gravitated towards.
I'd like to ask however about a Mithral Dagger, you said 500 gp was the limit, the Mithral Dagger would be 2 gp over this limit, how would you feel about that.
I could shoehorn her into a Sandru role if that will get her in the party. :-)
You could always have a crush on him, I hear he's quite the ladies man.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

sorry 500 is the limit. it is arbitrary…but gotta set it somewhere.
I would be willing to say it has the fragile quality and breaks on a nat 1 or 2 if you would like
I'll consider that, I may have to look through items to see if anything else jumps out at me.
Couldn't she just cover the other 2 gp from her starting gold? Traveling today so I won't be able to work on Gorou until tonight.
Or craft it, as a mundane item it would be quite a bit cheaper to craft.

MiniGM |

also so no one is caught off guard these items will upgrade themselves over the course of the AP, they will not be upgradable via other means.
so if you had a MW mace
At some point it will become a +1
later on depending on your play style it might become a +1 defending mace, or shocking or a +2
then later it might become throwing etc etc

Shiori Kaijitsu |

Ok, now I have an odd question, what if I were to pick a consumable as the item that costs up to 500 gold?
I'm thinking a Spell Tattoo of Disguise Self (basically a scroll on the flesh), which would cost 100 gp, while it's a consumable the idea is that it might cease to be consumed when upgraded (if not consumed first).

Hrm, with something a little less obvious upgrade-wise (such as maybe an ioun stone...) should i rethink the item or am i ok to leave it in your hands as to how it might advance?
Reading up on the caravan rules now :)

Shiori Kaijitsu |

Hmm I will figure that out on a case by case basis...somehow it will renew
Good enough for me, I'm going with the aforementioned tattoo.
I'm also swapping one of my traits, due to no longer having the Sleeves of Many Garments, and reallocating one of my skill points to use magic device (as I would need it to activate the tattoo.)
Thrown-Together Fashion will be my new Equipment Trait (instead of my existing Equipment Trait, Improvisational Equipment.). As far as interaction between this trait and the Master Spy's Master of Disguise, would master of disguise reduce the time for the alteration by half?

If it's a concern, I could easily rework Asako's concept into a Battle or Ancestor Oracle.

Darinius |

Added a final trait. The faith implied in the Indomitable Faith is not in a deity so much as in himself even through years of disappointment over his bloodline.
I don't think that Darinius would have names his spear yet. the point is that he does not know its significance at this point. Basically he does not know if the spear has a name right now but he expects that it will gain one in association with him eventually. All he knows is that it is an antique from Tian Xia and that he has a feeling of deja-vu regarding the exotic (Imperial) Dragons that it is decorated with. The actual history is up to whatever would make the most compelling hook. I think that Exiel might have an idea though.

Hey, sorry it took me so long Mini GM. Here is Trip Tumblefoot, halfling pathfinder extraordinaire! I still need to figure out equipment and it looks like choose a third trait, and get my fluff up. But he is ready to go besides that...
I did have a couple questions though:
- since I am starting with the prestige Pathfinder Chronicler, what sort of weapon/armor proficiency do I start with?
- what do I get for starting gold, as no average gold is listed?

Shirota Wakahisa |

May I introduce Shirota Wakahisa, Tian-Min ranger.!
To make it easy, my focus will be on Ameiko via the trait Childhood Crush. I'll be using the ranger's bonus feats for ranged combat, but regular feats to boost his mastery with the Masterwork Greatsword (his chosen ~500 GP item).
Shtick is his family emigrated with Ameiko's over the Crown of the World as a bodyguard unit, but have forgotten that over the last generation as they pursued their own goals. Having never known he was destined to protect her, he simply crushed hard on her (like half the town).

Darinius |

I just missed the editing deadline on my previous post, but scratch everything that I said about the name of Darinius' spear. As far as he knows it is named Wu Long Yan (窹龙戭) which means "awakened dragon spear" in Tian. Him finding out the name is the reason that he is so convinced that it is the key to his heritage since the name seems so prescient.
So even though Xa Hoi is based on Vietnam, they don't have their own language and they speak Draconic and Tian. MiniGM, what language do you want to represent Draconic since the spear would have a name in that language as well? I usually use Greek to represent Draconic, but that might be slightly incongruous in this case.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

If it's a concern, I could easily rework Asako's concept into a Battle or Ancestor Oracle.
As GM said, it makes us easier to TPK if we have no source of healing, and since we have no dedicated divine caster, and the magus lacks infernal healing and the bard lacks cure light wounds, any group formed by the characters presented currently would lack any ability to heal without using expendables until second level. I'm not going to attempt to persuade you to change your class, because people should play what they want to play, and the GM did mention in the OP that there might be a character added to the mix from outside of those listed here (who may very well be persuaded to play a divine spell caster due to the lack of one. I also do not know if the GM is recruiting for a balanced party or simply looking for the four best characters in their opinion.)
What I will say is that the characters presented thusfar lack any ability to heal themselves or others until at least second level, and if the GM is looking for a balanced party, a divine spell caster would be appealing to anyone who has not posted anything beyond interest at this point (because again if the GM is looking for a balanced party and if only one character on the end list is capable of healing anyone at first level...well I'll let you deduce the rest there). The lack of divine casters if merely something I am pointing out just as the lack of anyone supporting Sandru (perhaps the GM wants 1 person per NPC, I don't know, they never said, and I'm not going to ask). From previous Jade Regent recruitment however I can say that Sandru typically does seem to be the least liked (possibly due to the overwhelming male population of gamers and the fact that Sandru is in my opinion there for females to pick the obvious choice much as the overwhelming male population gravitates towards Ameiko).
In the end however, the list is all data and simply serves as a way for people to see what others have submitted without spending too much time looking over everyone's characters. It can act as a cheat sheet perhaps when one realizes that getting accepted into a play by post is often times as much a science as an art (and quite often luck plays a role as well.) or it can simply show what you might be playing with.
TLDR: Play/build whatever you want.
To make it easy, my focus will be on Ameiko via the trait Childhood Crush.
I was wondering how long it would take someone to pick that trait with Ameiko.
I've seen Gujarati used for Draconic before (in other PBPs), it tends to appear somewhat arcane.

So besides equipment I am ready to go! Took the good dream trait for my third one. Back story so far (still working it out):
Trip has always had strange dreams as long as he could remember. He used to awake in the middle of the night sweating and confused all the time as a child, frightful of how realist his dreams would be. His parents regularly told him that was all hogwash, and he learned to ignore it all. One night, he awoke from a terrible dream in which his parents died in a fire. As usual, they simply told him to ignore it. A few days later, Trip awoke to the smell of smoke. He barely managed to escape with his life, and within the hour his childhood home, and his parents, were nothing but ash.
He soon found himself alone and in need of a way to care for himself, so he took to doing whatever he could to get some coin or some bread; thieving, dock working, pick pocketing, line-chef, you name it he did it. Eventually, thanks to his natural luck, he ended up securing a job at a renowned library helping translate scrolls and books. A few years after this he was contacted by the Pathfinders to assist them with his abilities, and he discovered he had as much of a knack fr adventuring as he did for language! One of his best friends and partners was Sandru, and they spent several years adventuring together.

Shiori Kaijitsu |

One of his best friends and partners was Sandru, and they spent several years adventuring together.
I can almost hear Sandru crying tears of joy now that finally someone has decided to at least be his friend. Then again, he's probably just drunk, I swear he spends more time at the Rusty Dragon then I do, and I work here!
One last update before bed.

"Well, Ol' Sandru was always a heavy drinker. Hell, he is one of the only fellas I know who can out drink me any time any place! Have you always worked at the Dragon? It has been a little while since I have been to Sandpoint, I was there for the Swallowtail Festival a few years back and to visit my old friends but... well we all know how that turned out... but anyways, it is a pleasure to finally meet Ameiko's little sister! And if I ain't being too forward, I must say you certainly have your sisters beauty!"

Fiendish Zen |

What I will say is that the characters presented thusfar lack any ability to heal themselves or others until at least second level,
Ah you are absolutely right! For spell selection I figured CLW was on my list so would pick up a wand later to help out, that doesn't of course help us in surviving long enough to purchase said wand however!
In the end however, the list is all data and simply serves as a way for people to see what others have submitted without spending too much...
Just to say thanks for the list, nice to see who we're up against in our categories, and I'm sure it makes MiniGM's job a bit easier to keep track of things. Cheers!

Shirota Wakahisa |

Hmm... I think I should outline my backstory some more...
Shirota was born in Sandpoint to one of the few Tian families, the Wakahisa's. They (officially) followed the Kaijitsu's to Sandpoint to help them start up their glass-blowing industry, and became strong supporters of the family over the years. Young Shirota was one of the young lads who grew up with Ameiko, and while they may be friends, he has always secretly harbored hope that one day she would want to be more.
After a failed 'wooing' event, Shirota left Sandpoint to study under Shalelu for a season before striking out on his own for another two. He found he had particular skill in dealing with minor bandits North of town, and became quite skilled in facing them.
Finally, needing to return home, he has arrived back in town just as reports of assaults on caravans south of Sandpoint begin to filter into town.
Even so, he would lay his life on the line for Ameiko, and hopes one day she feels for him as he does for her.

MiniGM |

MiniGM, do you follow the ruling on human and languages that humans get common plus their 'native' tongue for free (in my case it would be Tien, a Keleshite would get Kelesh, Ulfen is Ulfen, etc.) and then if their Inti is high they can take additional. Or only Common is free?
Just curious.
Common plus native free

Shiori Kaijitsu |

I'm going to start working on my backstory now, but I'm wondering, what year does Jade Regent start in? AR 47??
Sister Ameiko was born in 4689 and MiniGM decided she's 25 now so that is 4714.
As an aside, those of you who know chinese, how would a younger sister refer to he older sister in chinese? I know it's Nechan in Japanese, and I believe Luna in Korean but I am unsure of Chinese.
