Shirota eventually is able to nab a good tankard of mead, taking a small sip at it. He wasn't quite sure how, but the mead always tasted better here in the Rusty Dragon. Turning to Orochi he raises the mug in a small toast. "To those who fight the vermin so the fine folk here don't have to, yes?" He tips it back and takes a large gulp.

I'm a beefy, skilled up warrior! *Flexes muscles while cocking an eyebrow* What more could a woman want? *Thoughts of Ameiko come forth and his previous failed (and rather hilarious) wooing attempt* *Blushes scarlet*

ok I am going to take 5 or 6, but I will be QUICK on the boot if players are jerks or disappear. Recruitment is still open but the following are in.

Tripp
Exiel
Darinius
Shiori

One more day of recruitment to fill the last spot or two, submissions still welcome. I am creating a discussion thread for those already accepted, I would like your opinions and you may also post in Gameplay, which is just you guys hanging out in the Rusty Dragon, none of your tied in characters are present.

Congrats, and hopefully I'll be seeing you on the other side.

Grats, folks! *crosses fingers and hopes*

Hmm, you put an extra r in my name, but yay!

Currently I am vassilating between another 4 or 5 characters….argh

But for those who care…I just adore Tripps class, and had to have it. Also the player had the benefit of me having played with him before.
I really like the potential RP between Darinius and Exiel, and I think Exiel has great potential as a leader of the group
Darinus' story has me totally intrigued
And as much as I like the Pathfinder Chronicaller I love the Master Spy even more!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

no i didn't!!

"Those who fight vermin ARE fine folk." Orochi riases his glass in a toast too. He then sets his glass down and scowls. "But I would like to fight more than just vermin, for a change."

"I'll drink to that. Better be careful what you wish for. I hear Desna's sense of humor is on the odd side."

Allysen raises her mug and winks at Yamato before draining the last of the mead in it.

Grand Lodge

Desna's sense of humor is what lays in the back of all our minds, yet we fail to admit it! Ha, the Great Dreamer knows more about us than we know of ourselves! Fickle thing, that one...

Yeah, I thought I would see more prestige's submitting! Good luck to everyone else, to the other three, I will see ya in gameplay!

Shadow Lodge

"Harrowing, eh ? Orochi mimes the drawing of cards with exaggerated gestures. I hope for this spread:
The Mountain Man, immovable and indestructible.
He nods to Alyssen.
The Courtesan, cunning and sly, he glances at the bard.
The Survivor, merciful and fearless. Orochi cants his head at the ranger.

"I'm sure there's a Winged Serpent in the deck somewhere, but..."his voice trails off.

Lantern Lodge

Thanks MiniGM. Will do my best not to disappoint, and it looks like it will be a fun group!

To the party members, GM's comments notwithstanding, don't feel a need to make me 'leader' or anything like that. =) Exiel has his convictions, but tries his best to be accomodating and diplomatic where party dynamics are concerned, and is not afraid to defer to better skill and judgment.

Well, unless they're being downright evil. =p

Sovereign Court

Congrats on all those chosen so far.

Liberty's Edge

Congrats on all. I still have my fingers and toes crossed.

Just out of curiosity, are alternate entries allowed?

I know it's a little late, but I had an idea and it's such a shame to let it go to waste.

sure go ahead, lets say no more than 1 alternate per person cause otherwise I will be swamped

Congratulations guys :)

Still hoping for a spot as well! I can guarantee I won't disappear without warning. To help back that claim up, I'll point out I've got 13,000 posts spread between my aliases and am DMing four games on the boards currently (at 3,119, 2,584, 558, and 133 posts respectively).

Small random RP sample in case it helps my chances

Gorou strides down the stairs from the upstairs living quarters of the Rusty Dragon and takes in the common room with a placid expression on his face. His heavily lidded eyes move to scan the occupants, noting the characteristics and armament of each. He nods a shallow bow to any he might recognize, and heads behind the bar. He sets his sword, Spine Splitter, gently against the counter before turning to retrieve an small, old looking, clay teapot and bamboo tray from under the bar. His bulk stretches against the fabric of his simple tunic and trousers as he works to set water boiling, measure out the tea leaves and conduct a simplified version of the traditional Tian-Min tea ceremony. After he has washed the pot in hot water and followed through the other steps of the ceremony, he sets the pot of tea on a small tatami mat on the bar, and retrieves and small porcelain cup, also placing it there.

He returns to the public side of the bar, and hefts his bulk up onto a bar stool. After neatly adjusting his clothes he reaches over and picks up a book from where he'd left it on the wooden counter earlier. Its title is written in flowing Minkaian calligraphy, Against the Oni: A Tactical Treatise. He begins to read the treatise, taking an occasional pause to sip daintily at his tea. The aroma of the brewed leaves is subtle and earthy. It spreads to fill the area around him.

If Ameiko won't take us on an adventure, at least I can read about someone else's. Sandpoint is all well and good, but I'm dying to get out of here. There's a whole world out there waiting to be explored! Conquests to be had, people to be helped. Gorou looks around the nearly empty common room. Where is she anyway? I haven't seen her in a while...

and just think Gorou just missed RotRL lol all that adventure

Boy if Gorou gets in we have a regular family traveling

Family has a lot of good RP potential and reasons to look out for each other ;)

Yes, he did miss RotRL. That's why he's back in Sandpoint in the first place, because he feels bad he wasn't there and wants to watch out for his older sis and stay close to her from now on. She's the only family he has left (that he knows about anyway).

Mini, I was going to app, but now I'm probably just going to steal the idea! PRCs in my next game.

i will let you know how it goes…I have a feeling that the PrC's will start weaker but around level 7 or so will be stronger than the regular classes, then around 12 or so it will balance out again.

I may steal it for my next game also. It's a really cool idea. I've actually only seen someone take levels in a PRC once in Pathfinder that I can remember. Archetypes kind of killed them, but making them available from level 1 makes them attractive again.

i have a PFS character that has a single level in Sleepless Detective, but that is it

I was working a character towards Duelist in a Way of the Wicked Game but he just got his head removed by a stooped paladin

Ouch. I had a PFS character who was a Steel Falcon once, but most of his games weren't reported by the GMs so I lost all the XP.

:/

I have an Eldritch Knight in PFS, but it's because he 'cheated' to get there. Gunslinger 1/Sorc 1/EK 1 at this point.

Shouldn't matter Melanie if you have the chronicles

I think I do have them somewhere packed away. Living in China there's no one to play PFS with anyway, so all my gaming is online now. I had a group going with some other expats, but then one moved away and another became unreliable.

Lol autocorrect

Yeah figured as much :P

GM Hills wrote:

Odd, that's exactly the combonation that my EK will be next level, Guntank and Empyreal sorc, should make an interesting combo.

My Oracle is going to qualify for Hellknight Signifier pretty soon, she just needs to shift over to lawful good first (she's neutral good right now) but I plan for her to take Signifier later then the earliest point at which she could enter (that is to say if I changed her alignment now, she would meet all the pre-reqs, but there's one last thing I want out of my revelations first.) Admittedly, I actually tend to build my PFS characters with the ability to qualify for a few PrCs, waiting to decide if I will take levels in them until later.

I can definitely see some of the PrCs being weaker at low level, but by the time they get their capstones at level 10, I'm sure they will be stronger, if we make it to 10th. Now, however if someone had gone with a Mystic Theurge, that PrC would be stronger then either a straight arcane or divine spellcaster since it would have twice as many spells, and an Arcane Trickster would also be quite powerful, probably actually Arcane Archer and Eldritch Knight too.

Agreed. The full BAB PRCs that also offer spell advancement are a little like playing gestalt if you can start them at first level. You don't really lose anything from the martial side, and you still get spells as a full caster (albeit of lower level).

Background:
Simza remembered the night Sandru and Ameiko came back from the Fogscar Mountains. She had a feeling, something dark, something bloody had happened. Even before they told her what had happened, she knew that Alder was gone and she didn't know how long she wept in Sandru's arms when they told her. She was too young to go with him and Koya on the caravan routes, so Ameiko promised to take care of her. Too young to be much help in the Rusty Dragon she took to spending time with Niska, receiving several harrows trying to learn the art herself. On her tenth birthday, Niska gave her a Harrow deck of her own. The beautifully crafted cards became her greatest treasure. She was always careful with them, so much so that despite using them often for four years, they looked little worse then they did when she was given them. She'd give fortunes to passing adventures and bring their tales back to Niska.

That was until Jubrayl snatched the deck from her while on her way to Niska's. She begged and pleaded with her oldest brother to give her the cards back, but Jubrayl had plans for his little sister. She'd be perfect for his latest scheme. A cute, harmless distraction, he thought. The sczarni told her she could have her precious Harrow deck back if she did him a favor in return. One favor turned into two, then four, then six. Each time she was almost to the point of winning her cards back, Jubrayl added more to her debt. After a month and a half, she'd had enough and her temper flared, wakening the arcane blood in her veins. Fire from the stars bloomed from her fingertips and stunned Jubrayl with their brilliance just long enough for her to grab the deck from his hand and run.

Now that her sixteenth birthday is behind her, and Niska is finally getting a well deserved rest, wanderlust is getting to her. Her nights are often spent wandering the streets and star gazing, while her days are passed with practicing her arcane arts and the Harrow. The next time Sandru leaves Sandpoint, she wants to be with him on his caravan.

Personality and Appearance:
Simza's body and personality are the antithesis of each other. Her heart is large, and she is a caring soul, not wishing harm on anyone, well almost anyone. She often imagines Jubrayl dying a thousand grisly, gory deaths... in a fire. While her anger is quick, so is her forgiveness, except for Jubrayl, may he go bald and fat, suffer form constant nightmares, and may his son, as well, and his son, and his son to the seventh generation! When she smiles, it's always big, and her emotions are never very deep from the surface.

Her body on the other hand, is small, child-like in comparison to some of the other girls her age. Her face is framed by her raven-black hair, and her eyes sparkle like a star-studded midnight sky. She favors loose, comfortable clothing that allows her plenty of freedom to dance and cast her spells.

Plans:

I plan on taking the Harrower PrC as soon as possible, but I didn't want her to start off with it just yet. Divination and Evocation spells are going to be her bailiwick, with any other spells that are just plain useful.

Storywise, I would like there to be a confrontation with Jubrayl at some point. I imagine that he's still fuming about getting his eyebrows singed off. I can work on relations with the others after the selections are through. As for the Harrowed feat, I left that open for you to use. She's 16, after all, and hasn't really left Sandpoint, even if just going to the Hinterlands.

The free item is the Harrow deck given to her by Niska. If you want, MiniGM, we can talk about how that impacts what powers it has.

Really looking forward to starting but not to making the final choice

Ooh! Nice build there Adam. Real good.

Ok, best I could do with limited time. Just saw this thread this afternoon. May I present:

Narissth

Ratfolk Arcane Archer (going Wizard levels, not sure about the arcane school yet)

Background is mostly finished. Probably needs a lot of touchups since I typed it fast. (I need to tie in the campaign trait, but that can be done fairly easily.)

Would add more, but I am sort of supposed to be working tomorrow and it is almost 2 a.m. here.

Shadow Lodge

I'd like to change my class to Mystic Theurge. If that class is deemed too powerful, I'll change to cleric of Gozreh.

Shirota Wakahisa wrote:

Thanks! I hope you liked Allysen too, but I thinkI might actually enjoy playing Simza more.

Allysen was fun!

Shadow Lodge

I read "balding" instead of budding. Must be too early in the morning. Then I thought "how about a bald pyromaniac, or one with a buzz cut, so her hair doesn't catch on fire all the time."

But it's your character. Do what youwill with the suggestion.

Lantern Lodge

Exiel continues to eye Darinius' spear intently. His right fist is clenched tightly and pressed firmly against his mouth as his brow furrows in consternation.

That spear... Could it really be THAT spear? What is it doing HERE? It should have been buried with him! He should have been buried with full honour, his weapon by his side... He of all people DESERVED that much...

Absorbed in his thoughts, he barely notices that the tavern has by now become packed with a disparate collection of colourful individuals, each seeking the comforts of food, drink and music as the cool of the evening sets in.

Food, drink, music, and perhaps a whisper or two of worthy ventures to embark on.

Liberty's Edge

At that a halfling walks in the door. She looks like she has just finished some hard travel as she walks up to a table. Climbing onto the chair, she sits for a minute, as if to catch her breath, and then orders a meal. Her pack is on the floor at her feet, and at her hip is a pistol, one of the rare blackpowder weapons. She looks at the crowd, taking her time with examining people. Around her neck is a necklace of dried goblin ears, which she removes and places in her pack

don't want to upset peoples appetites

Shadow Lodge

The snake-man walks over to the halfling and sits at her table."Hello miss. Where have you been hunting ?"

I think I may do that for another character, but it's kinda hard to have your hair flow with magical energy when you have a buzz cut ;)

But a gnome pyro with a buzz cut, I can totally see that.

Damn, snow ate my net for a bit, so not going to try for the last spot (Don't want to slow down the start of the game if I somehow got in and it happened again.)

Goodluck all!

About 7 hours to go

Updated background to include campaign trait. Will recheck sheet this afternoon for any other errors.

Narissth

**not posting with actual avatar so that I can delete it if not accepted.**

But Tirion, that's half the fun!

Once more, best of luck to not only those that made it already but for everyone else!

I have more avatars from campaigns that died than I know what to do with. I keep telling myself that I will reuse them, but so far have only done this once or twice.

They really need a way to check that an avatar is "inactive" so that it does not show up as a pic in the Alias tab or in the pop-up menus for selecting who is making a post.

I agree, a 'Retired' character list would be nice.

Liberty's Edge

Vera looks at the snake man, somewhat startled at his appearance.
Oh I have been hunting around and about. Not a lot of success to date. I think the homicidal pests are making themselves scarce. Um, that's goblins you see
She sips her drink and asks So how has your day been? and what are you, exactly she thought.
