Ah, bummer! Yes, although I grew up on a farm and am a scientist by training, I have some interest in languages as well. I am fairly fluent in Spanish, have some knowledge of German, and have been learning Irish for the past six months or so (in preparation for an eventual trip to Ireland where I hope to visit a Gaeltacht aka "Irish-speaking area" or two). My family is Polish though so I've thought about picking up Polish as well, although I will probably wait until my Spanish is closer to C1 level and my German and Irish are at least B1 before I start studying it seriously.

As for non-living languages, I also took an online class on Anglo-Saxon last fall and have studied Quenya a fair bit, although I tend to be quite hesitant in using it because there are a lot of complications in trying to compose something in Tolkein's languages.

Between Ruth Noel's older book, The Languages of Tolkien's Middle Earth, and online/fan linguistics sites like Ambar-Eldaron and Hisweloke, there's enough out there to make a passable sentence for RP purposes. It doesn't have to be flawless--most English isn't, either. But then, I also used to use/contributed to The Grey Company's Elven language, which a lot of Tolkien purists think makes me a heretic.

Yes, that's true enough. I think you can make simple sentences and compositions in Quenya with a fair amount of certainty if you know what you're doing. Some websites and books are better than others though, you just have know where to look for good sources on the Elvish languages.

Please read before signing up for my games:

Frequency: I know that everyone gets busy and misses a day here and there, but it is expected that you post at least once a day under normal circumstances. If you don't think you will be able to post every day, you should consider a slower game. I try to update my games every day and if you are not able to keep up you will not be interacting with the story or with your fellow agents enough to earn your XP.
Posting Quality: Please try to bring your character to life! Play-by-post may be slow but it has the advantage over tabletop games in allowing players to give full descriptions of their characters looks and actions and it gives you the time to put thought into those descriptions and into the dialog you write for your character. Please take advantage of the medium and spice up the game with some description and dialog. Interact with your fellow agents. That's what role-playing games are all about! I should never ever see a post with just dice rolls; we are not playing Yahtzee! The out-of-character chatter should be kept to a minimum in the Gameplay thread.

I know it sounds harsh, but when I started implementing these rules guidelines, my games became much more enjoyable. The more you put into a game, the more you will get out. If everyone posts minimal description with dice rolls, the game will get boring really fast. If everyone makes an effort to write engaging posts, the characters will become more dynamic and the game will be much more enjoyable for everyone involved and your GM will be much happier.

Thank you!

Your friendly halfling Venture-Captain hops up on his stool and raps his knuckles against Ace's new bar to catch everyone's attention. "If I am not mistaken, we have a few fellow Seekers in this Lodge and I will need to speak with them urgently! It seems the Society is looking for agents with plenty of experience for a delicate matter in Thuvia!"

A very special recruitment for 07-20 All for Immortality Part I: First Taste of Eternity for levels 12-15. This is the new seeker arc which will be released in three parts over the next few months. I am looking for a dedicated group of high-level characters to play through all three parts together. For such a long and demanding series I am looking for really high-quality players who enjoy roleplaying and interacting with their fellow agents. High level games always run the risk of turning into page after page of dice rolls so I want a group who can keep the description and dialog fresh throughout the whole series. Sign up here if interested. In the event that there are more than six signups, I will probably hand-pick the crew.

As the more experienced agents work their way through the crowded common room towards Trotter, the halfling calls out another announcement, "Now I haven't forgotten about our newer agents either! I'd like to give you some more experience in the field as well, so that you might one day be called Seekers too! It seems there is plenty to do in Thuvia so I'll be sending you along with a slightly different task."

I'm also recruiting for 07-21 The Sun Orchid Scheme for levels 1-5. You can sign up here. I will roll a lottery for winners some time in the next few days.

Thanks everyone and good luck!

I'll try for this other one, though...

I am overjoyed to see actual material for higher levels - not even close to eligible for that, though. Next year in Jerusalem, as they say...!

By the way, when DM Dr Evil left us, I was in the early stages of an adventure with him, and it's still registering as "Active" in my Campaign tab. Is there something someone can do about that? It was "Faithless and Forgotten, Part I," for what it's worth.

If you go to the 'parent' board of the gameplay, you can 'hide' the thread? (Little circle doohickey on the right.)

Scarab Sages

Good start, maybe, but it seems like...I don't know...there's some "pack it in/close the book" procedure that needs to be done?

Also, I actually don't know what you mean; I don't see anything there, if "there" is where I think it is (and I have no idea where else it would be).

? Not much of a speed fanatic, couldn't tell you. Former Retail Worker/13

When you're at the parent board there'll be a thing that'll say 'last post' on 'x' date, etc. If it ended a while ago, you might have to do some forum-diving to find the date of the last post. Then you click the doohickey that will highlight 'Hide this thread' when you mouse over it.

If you do it right, it will vanish. I did this last night for a PbP I wasn't in anymore.

As far as 'wrapping up', what was the resolution of the scenario, did it complete, did someone else run it, etc?

Scarab Sages

Take a look. It just stopped cold when the DM had to go. I advocated for finding a switch-hitter, but there didn't seem to be much of any momentum for it, for some reason. :/

Scroll down and hide it, I guess? It'd be my call, at least, and try to find someone else to run it?

I have (as too many have experienced!) jumped in and helped a bunch of tabled finish up (some got dropped at the VC brief..!) and can confirm that the best solution for you is to send a quick email to customer service and ask for the thread to be closed. Takes a couple of days.

Sadly, as six weeks have gone by, I doubt you could salvage that group.

A slim, wiry woman dressed in baggy silk trousers and scarred leather armor enters the lodge, followed by a larger man. There is a family resemblance between them. The woman might be Katapeshi by her complexion, but rather than the black hair common to that region, hers is a burned copper red that almost seems alive. Her eyes are also a coal-red. Her movements are animated, and she's eagerly talking with her companion, while flipping a dagger in mid-air and catching it again.

"--so I told him where he could stick his contract, illustrated it with pictures, knocked out two of his guards, ran down the hallway, escaped through the window, landed on my feet, and won the admiration of the town and the love of a fawning populace," she rattles off. "What'd you do with your weekend, brother?"

Not really waiting for an answer, the plane-touched woman saunters to the board where missions are often posted, scrunching her nose up as she looks through the options.

Heya! A friend and myself have decided to build a teamwork-feat oriented pair of characters who are starting their PFS journey; unfortunately, as we live about three hours apart, we're stuck with PBP as the best way to play these characters. Furthermore, we have the issue that we've each been playing PFS a while now, and we have very, very few scenarios, especially at low level, where there's overlap that we can both play for credit. So if anyone's in the mood to run any of the level 1 Evergreens, please consider some pre-interest from Ember and Cinder, the Ifrit Wonder Twins! We'd really love Crypt of the Everflame especially, but any of the Evergreens would work. Cheers to any potential GMs!

Belondia dropped his packs and barrel of his equipment next to a stool at the bar and took a seat upon it. He looked around the room, watching the hussle and bussle of all these Adventurers, coming back to missions and some being recruited and heading out to do their own jobs. Looks like he's found the right place for him.

"I'll take anything strong and fill it to the brim." He called over to the barkeep before turning to the closest table to him. "You guys heard of any beginners contracts? I'm looking to smash some undead"

I once played with a Witch and Monk/Witchguard that used Lookout. He could kill and disarm stuff--she could put it to sleep. They ended some fights that would have been really hard (like an eidolon and her would-be invisible summoner) before they could even get started

She snags a piece of parchment off the wall and squints around the room. "Hey dwarf!!"

She whistles sharply, and then waves her hand until Belondia looks over. She holds up the parchment. "Oi, you want to go into some crypt? Probably undead there by the name, right?"

She scrunches up her face, counting. "You, me, my brother, that's three-- we need some god-botherer for the fourth, and that's good enough for dinner and drinks, I'd think! Any takers?"

First Steps Part 1 is definitely still an Evergreen scenario. So, yes, Bait you can play it as many times as you want as long as you do so with a level 1 character. The following scenarios are the current Evergreens: First Steps Part 1, The Confirmation, The Wounded Wisp, and The Consortium Compact.

First steps part 1 is still re-playable. (I think parts 2 & 3 were retired though).

The Crypt module is also replayable, and normally I would offer to run more than one table, but I think I am at my limit right now.

Regarding space, it looks much better suited for 4 players, so I think I will limit to that for now. If things lighten up, though, I will get another table going.
