Ser Willem, having been busy dealing with Taldane affairs, was finally assigned to visit the Flaxseed Lodge, as he was told this was the place to find more work to continue his service. He brushes a hand through his short blonde hair as he enters the main area of the lodge and is bewildered by the sheer number of other Pathfinder here. He would definitely find work here.

Ser Willem is a Level 2 Cavalier who has seen a few assignments from the lodge and is again looking for more work.

Lantern Lodge

SFS 05-99 BftB

A rather core looking man wanders through the lodge, checking over his shoulder, and mentioning something about a shadow lodge....

Still have three spaces open for the higher level Core table of the Shadow Lodge special that starts in two weeks. I'm happy to take pregens at this stage if you don't have a level 5-9er in Core

My apologies about my absence! My computer and tablet had died on me, and my phone wouldnt work with google documents, which made gaming impossible. Seems like the lodge is going quite well!

Our Emerald Spire group (CORE) is looking for one more member to join the team for the next (4th) level, which is Godhome, available for 3rd-5th level characters. The group plans to continue to level 5 afterwards.

We're just filling 1 slot. The group has a melee cleric, rogue and archer. If there are multiple sign-ups, we'll confer on the best fit for the opening. Please be sure you can post 1-2 times per day on weekdays.

There will be plenty more to come. :) Just keep an eye out on this thread. I have a few characters getting close to Seeker so I am going to be pushing a few.

A small gnome walks slowly into the Lodge. Her right leg hitches with each step slowing her down. She's followed by a wolf.

Faybella glares at anyone who suggests the wolf leave. "Wolfie is very well trained. He knows lots of tricks, and hasn't eaten anyone I didn't tell him to in at least...let me think...three no four months. He was provoked beyond bearing then. He's not a dog, and doesn't like to be called one."

She continues across the room to the notice boards. She pulls up a chair to make reading the notices easier. Let's see. Anything for a new Pathfinder available right now?

Dotting for interest.

Maps: Absalom Initiation

A man of Taldan origin steps into the lodge. He has several notable features, among which his bold sideburns and drab livery. "Hear ye, hear ye," he starts reading from a paper in a very nasal and droning voice. "I have the 'pleasure' to recruit six of you for an internship in Varisia, with the Heidmarch lodge in Magnimar. Previous experience in the field is not necessary, I've been instructed to say. (They're sending fresh recruits off to everywhere these days, it seems.) Ahem... Your first assignment would be the looting - pardon - exploration of an erstwhile Pathfinder's personal vault."

"Thereafter, there may be an assignment dealing with a circus of some sort. I wasn't told of the details. You'd have to ask Mr. and Mrs. Heidmarch when you see them."

After this monotonous declaration the man stays on stage, gazing off into the distance. He has a pen at the ready, to take names for the shortlist.

I am recruiting for #4-18 The Veteran's Vault, in classic (non-core) mode. I'm shooting for low subtier. My intention is to continue with the module Murder's Mark after the scenario ends, if the group gels well together. If people would be up for that, I'd encourage them to sign up with a character of 1 XP or less. We'll discuss those options at the end of the scenario, there's no obligation to continue with the module. Other than that, standard expectations apply to this game: Please be prepared to post daily (during weekdays at least), and make a good effort to engage in roleplay with me and each other.

Recruitment process is as follows: One of the spots on this scenario is reserved for a RL friend of mine. That means there's five spots up for grabs. Signups will be open until Friday evening. If there's more interest than spots available, I will choose the first two from among new players and GM's who've run a scenario for me recently. The remaining three spots will then be decided by lottery.

If you're interested, please add your name to the spreadsheet here. There's an option to leave notes, for instance to indicate if you're new to PbP and/or to PFS.

Is "The Veteran's Vault" "evergreen?" I think it might be, but remove me from the sign-up sheet if not.

As for "Murder's Mark," I've played that one. The experience was...memorable. :S I might be willing to flip around to DMing it provided someone could assist me with the technical stuff - I did that before on here, and it worked out pretty well.

An attractive redhead walks up to offer her name to the Taldan recruiting for the Heidmarch lodge. She is not particularly well-armed or armored (studded leather, with a club and sling), but after talking with the recruiter, she points to a table and gestures. A strange humanoid figure walks over carrying some spears. As he clears the smokey center of the room and approaches, he can be seen to have the face of a tiger, with strong arms and legs, claws, and Minkai armor. But once he is close enough to be seen properly, the recruiter sees he has fur that appears to be the same as is often used to simulate fur in stuffed animals given to children. Indeed, the creature's face has buttons for eyes, each with an ornate stylized Minkai butterfly embossed. The same emblem appeared in a larger disk on the creature's breastplate and then the recruiter noticed what he had assumed was a tattoo on the woman's forehead was really the same emblem which seemed to be magically embedded in her forehead.

"Hy am Nona Petran. Diz iz Katzu, my h'eidolon. Ver Hy go, he goz." She speaks with a distinct Ustalav accent.

The recruiter places her name on the list and adds a "+1" note. As she returns with her eidolon and pulls out a Harrow deck to play Harrow solitaire at the table, the recruiter notes how young she looks, but the eidolon had an air of something ancient.

I have not played this character yet. I may see if there is anything from Summoner unchained I can incorporate before she plays.

Female Tiefling Arcanist

@GM Iff: working on this arcanist. I don't remember if "blood of demons" (for alternate kind of Tieflings) can be used on Society characters?

Maps: Absalom Initiation

Do you mean 'Blood of Fiends', perhaps? I don't have that book, but the PFS "additional resources" page tells you which rules are used in PFS, from each book:
http://paizo.com/pathfinderSociety/about/additionalResources

For tieflings, it's seems like the alternate heritages are OK, while the variant abilities are not. Of course, you also need the race boon to create a Tiefling for PFS.

Edit: good to see so much interested in the game. :)

Yep, that's "Blood of Fiends". I don't have a "race boon"... where can I find one? Does that mean that I should never play Meezdrubel?

Not without the boon. Its not a legal character. Check the boon trading thread on the PFS area of the boards.

Liberty's Edge

Generally race boons are given out to GMs of larger events, mostly conventions and the occasional game day and the available boons rotate on a quarterly basis.

Tieflings (and Aasimar) that were played while the race was open can still be played, but no new tieflings can be created without a boon. In order to be grandfathered, the tiefling had to have at least 1 XP prior to August 14, 2014.

RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16

You could certainly play Meez in a non-PFS game, but yeah, in PFS, access to "specialty" races like tieflings is not a given constant. Tieflings currently require a boon to play, as the others have said. Good luck in your search!

Thanks again for the interest in this game. As explained, I'll run a lottery. I'm taking on Klaasel as a reserved spot and CariMac as a new PbP player. That leaves 4 spots to roll for. I'm going by the numbers on the signup sheet, rerolling numbers 1, 5 and any number that comes up double.

Roll-off: 6d11 ⇒ (8, 1, 8, 4, 2, 10) = 33

The Taldan man with the sideburns looks at his list of names with a detached and bored look, then closes his eyes and jots down his pen four time. "Right. It took a rigorous selection process, but Heidmarch Manor has a new team of Pathfinders on retinue," he drones. "Yay them..."

Klaasel, Caro Cogitatus, Valjoen_KC, CariMac, Belondia and qwerty1971, please report to the Discussion thread here and check in. Sorry for the others who didn't make it in this time.

So that leaves 5 players who didn't make the table right? I've already played Veteran's Vault before, but if someone can show me the ropes on how to run PBP on the Paizo forum (I usually run on Myth-Weavers), I might be able to run a second table to pick up the players that were left off.

There are several general purpose guides to GMing on Paizo messageboards here. This one covers a broad range of topics, including how to set up the thread.

If you mainly need to know the nuts and bolts of how to get a thread started, look at the "2.1 Creating the World" for what to do first as GM and what the players do.

Post something back here once you've set up the thread and make the invite, plus maybe send a private message (PM) to make sure the prospective players you want to join are aware of your offer.

I'm not sure what, if anything, you have to do to make the game an official PFS game, but at a minimum, you'll have to have the chronicle sheets to give out, usually via e-mail or posting on something like Google Docs. I think the PFS GM has to report the results in some official way so appropriate updates can be made. I've never done any of that, but obviously lots of other posters to this thread have.

Most games I've played and my own PBP campaign use a shared document on something like Google Docs for things like maps and handouts. If you create a new Google drawing, you can then paste the map and individual tokens for the PCs, NPCs, and other props. You can then post a link that players can click to open the doc and anyone can move things around to indicate where his/her character moves. Just be sure the option is checked that gives people who click on the link permission to edit.

Anything else you need to know?

"Hmm? A mission? And it's not in Kaer Maga? I'm in!"

I was another of those 5. I've got some PbP GM experience, which is basically do whatever Dungeon Master S does. As far as mapping is concerned, as a player I like google slides so I can move my tokens on my phone. As a GM I prefer google drawings because it's much easier to work with. If you use google drawings, expect people to narrate actions and not move their tokens. If you use slides, expect to spend extra time re-sizing and chopping up the maps. I personally use google drawings when I GM because I find it easier to just make 1 giant map for dungeons and cover up parts, then just delete the covering blocks as the party goes. It keeps the scenario moving forward nicely and makes my life easier. I have no problem moving people's tokens for them if they narrate their action, so it all works out in the end.

VC - Sydney, Australia

I'm Slides all the way as a GM now, I can still cover the dungeons and do everything I did in draw, so no worries :) My players can then move themselves around and have ok mobile access - its all good though, whatever works for the GM

Female Human Pathfinder Society GM Thistletop Combat Map

Me too! You can add a lot of visual details too without shorting your map space on Slides. Really good for adding some extra color to the scenarios.

Thanks so much for offering to GM on the boards, Michael Hallet! So many players get very few opportunities at in-person events (myself included) and PbP is a God-send! ^_^

To get around the problem of people being unable to update Google drawing from their phones, I added a marker square that forms the origin of a coordinate axis system so that each square can be referred to by a pair of coordinates. It sounds complicated but it works well enough once people understand how it works.

Plaguestone Map | Gallows of Madness Combat Map

Yeah, I've taken to adding coordinate grids on my maps, like so, both for purposes of players being able to say 'can you move me to F-21' or whatever, if they can't move themselves, but it's also useful for situations like 'character A, you've noticed someone hiding in square [XX]' without needing to put a token out that would let everyone else see them.

A cloaked and hooded figure enters the Lodge... "I am looking for one recruit to join an established group of Pathfinders upon several missions to prove your worth to The Society! For those of you ready for your Confirmation, step forward and you shall be accepted."

Looking for one PC to join this group here! It is an ongoing Evergreen scenario campaign that just finished up The First Steps, Part 1. We are going to be starting the Confirmation as soon as I get a replacement to join up. After that, we will be doing The Wounded Wisp, and wrapping up with The Consortium Compact. I ask only for players who are interested in completing all three of the scenarios. The group consists of a nagaji skald, a sylph fighter, a human occultist, and a human barbarian. The barbarian will be joining the group for the Confirmation. I think this will likely be first come first served fulfillment as they are itching to start up again.
