The team takes the left tunnel, making them scarce before any alarm about the five missing duergar is struck.
The tunnel takes a small while, but not for too long.
A few times you have to duck away to avoid a mine wagon with its escorts from seeing you. Yet as they had returned, you merely had to follow them.
In the distance, a few torches stand burning in what looks to be a small office of sorts.
A duergar sits at a desk, talking with another.
"With this number of slaves, along with the new additions, our production could go up."
"Good, good. The crafters at the bastion and further ahead will be pleased. While i do not doubt the thorough eye The Foreman keeps, tell him i want more staff down there."

Those are expensive as all hell. But I think the GM is basically saying you guys have the ranged while the rest dont really. Best Orland can do is learn Deadly aim, pick up a crossbow and fire with you.

As Elsa decides she's not going to sneak shoot the evil dwarf, Nelphys calmly takes aim.

Three trunks stand at the wall.
2 are empty, but the third is locked, Nelphys easily opens it though.
Among a small number of gems, is a small raw diamond the size of a baby's fist.
Where there are small ones.....
The desk contains a number of charts with names, as well as what seems to be an inventory list and a report that is half tucked into an envelope of sorts.
They seem to be written in a dialect of undercommon, which the two mongrel-kin are unfamiliar with.
Elsa manages to conclude something about it being dwarven, since she's got trained linguistics, when she spends a minute or two going over it.
Father Burdock recognizes this as a mix of dwarven and undercommon.

More slaves have arrived to work in the quarry.
A group of morlocks. We've made it so that their Climbing skill is too hampered to be used properly.
Day 48:
There was a find of a small diamond among the minerals. This is good, we continue the search for bigger ones.
Day 54:
A group of mongrels have been captured. They will be put to work shortly.
If there's any preps to be done. Now would be the time.
Cautiously continuing down the path, the sound of picks on hard material becomes clearer.
As you get further around the corner, a wide view of a mineral quarry at least 90 feet by 80 feet is before you.
Many slaves stand on 20 feet high scaffoldings and ground floor, hacking away.
Duergar guards are spread around, keeping watchful eyes upon the slaves of various races. You recognize morlocks, vegepygmy, mongrelmen, and some derro.

Aside from being slavers, duergar that fail expectations, can be sentenced to work forced labor. That is considered moderate, as death sentences are no rarity to their people.
One particularly nasty looking duergar is to the far east.
He's shouting yet unknown words at a prone slave, cracking a whip as he does. Nearby slaves try to look away, but are forced to watch. The slave stubbornly tries to rise, but gets whipped again.
As you observe, you notice the guards seem to periodically head for a large table, on which you can make out at least two pitchers.
A prison with a group of 3 mongrel-kin, is north of the table.
