"That news we've heard, but for all we know you could be connected to those thieves."
The guy seems a bit nervous by the news.
......
[b]"Who is it?"
"It's two women saying thieves stole a list of adresses from Mary's and we're on it."
"Let em in."
The door goes off the locks and you are guided into the living room, where father Hayley and his other son are sitting.
Upon Lyssa entering, father Hayley stands up quickly...
"Megan?....", the man realises his mistake and sits down, gesturing the two of you to take a seat and explain.
Lyssa Kail |
Who the heck's Megan?
"Ahum... Anyway, we've come to warn you about the list stolen from Mary's. How come you were already aware of this, were the guards here before us?"
Sabel Ea'tari |
"Yes, we are indeed very curious. You aren't the first one to say that you already know this. And we came to you with great haste, who brought you this information."
Sabel gets the idea that the thieves might be faster than they are, which is very worrisome.

GM, thanks for NPCing me first round. Intimidate check was good. Sorry about falling behind, everybody.
Malena, still cursing herself for not having all of her gear with her-- and making a mental note right after this to go home and get it, because things are clearly getting hairy and this is no longer a normal day in the city-- starts casting a spell, targeting the thief who is holding the bow. If the spell is successful, she says, "Help us out here! Get your friend to stop attacking, and nobody else has to get hurt!"
If the spell is not succesful... she will just be sad.
Cast "Charm Person" on the thief holding the bow. The Will Save DC is 14, but he gets a +5 because we're threatening/attacking him.

Outside of the Hayleys
As the guards are chasing the 4 thieves, Lyssa and Sabel acts swiftly, Sabel shooting an arrow in the lower leg of the nearest thief and one near him gets a teasing "boot in the back", pushing the guy 5ft further into the direction he was going in. That makes a small distance advantage for him.
Chase is possible, should you choose to do so, otherwise you are entrusting the situation to the guards.
Intended route: the thieves are going straight ahead, turning a few streets as they go to try to lose the guards and the two women.
On the route there are several small obstacles to overcome to both pursuers and the running.
It's a 300ft chase over a 15ft wide street route. Make 2 Acrobatics checks of DC 14, Climb checks checks of DC 14 and 2 reflex checks of DC 14.
Each failed check reduces the next move action speed by 10ft, this goes for both you and the thieves. Any thieves that reach the end on a distance advantage of 15 will be able to escape.
Naturally you're free to use other actions than giving chase.

As he gets downstairs he'll greet the other brother with a stern face and says.
"Everything taken care of. We need to call on some guards. Be right back."
When he's outside he looks around for any guards, if he doesn't see any of them he'll give a few short shouts: "Guards! Guards! We could use some assistance."

At the Kromms
The other Kromm thanks you for the trouble as Callum quickly fills him in. Meanwhile outside 2 city guards come up to Grint's calling.
"Hello sir, what can we help you with?"
Outside at the Hayleys
3 guards, Lyssa and Sabel are now chasing the 4 thieves.
The pursuers and the thieves came upon several obstacles on their route.
-A wagon, 1 guard, Lyssa and 2 thieves found the parked vehicle slightly bothersome.
-A geese herder, whom lost 4 geese to the feet of a guard, Lyssa and 2 thieves.
-A hanging basket, which got knocked into by a guard, Sabel and a thief.
-A small wall, scaled easily except by Sabel and 1 thief.
-A very slippery street imbalanced a guard, the two women and a thief.
-A crowd around a corner got run into by all but a guard, Lyssa and a thief.
Though the thieves got close to their destination, they failed to outrun the 5 pursuers. The thief whom was shot in the leg got both women catching him. Some other guardsmen came up as well and the thieves were tied up.
Well done, your course of action now? It's not restricted to the thieves at this time, should you choose so.

We do not know how they got in, but it was fortune that made me and a few others to assist the brothers in defending their hearth and home. One of the robbers lies dead, but the other two seem to be still alive. I thought it best to let you know instead of us delivering them to the prison uninformed."
GM Chyro |
I'll wait till tomorrow afternoon for a post of either Elsa and/or Malena for the Kromm location, otherwise i am going to take their actions as the last ones they posted as their final post-combat and take it from there.

he guards head up and come down with the 3.
"You said 1 dead and 2 alive? We've got 2 dead and one that seems an unsure case."
Malena failed the heal check on the bleeding thief and with no help or 2nd checks made he bled to death while you were talking.
Outside in the streets after a wild chase.
"What did they do? There were 6 of them at first. We spotted 2 of them stealing wares. Ropes, shackles, candles."
Father Hayley comes out at the moment the guards tell about the stolen wares and goes to check on the small supply they have at a small adjacent storage. The lock was busted and missing items matched what the guard had just mentioned.
"2 of them got away with the goods, heading southwest."
Grint
Because Elsa saw the thief against the wall take something then dropping limb, i'll assume she assumes he's alive and says so. Though after such a weird thing it's always useful to check.
Malena
The loot has been taken, the thief against the wall was searched by Elsa before and yields nothing on him....save for a chip with small engravings.
It has a tiny compass on it. After thorough examination the other two also have a similar chip well hidden.
Malena Omoroi |
Malena takes the small chips (wood chips?) on the thieves. She shows it to the others: a tiny engraving of a compass.
(OOC: Remind me, did we find this before? Or was this described as the earrings of the bearded man? It sounds familiar....)
"Do either of you know what this symbol means?" she asks.
Grint Mavric |
It probably looks like the description of that guy's earring.
"Unsure Case, Usually we feel a man's pulse before declaring him dead."
Grint tries to make sure if the man is alive, in such case he looks for him breathing and checking his pulse.
Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
GM Chyro |
The chip indeed has the engraving similar to the earring. Since you haven't seen it, there's two people you've met who know the guy by face.
Grint checks the man but can't quite decide. But at least he's still got a healthy color.
Heal check 15
The man has a very faint pulse, seemingly in a deeply sedated state.
Despite it there is no sweating, he'll live but if he's suffered any odd effects they will be known when he wakes up.
Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |
Elsa watches the proceedings impassively Sorry GM, didn't have much to add.
I do not know what the symbol means Malena
Lyssa Kail |
"Ropes... shackles... and candles...?" Lyssa asks, a frown showing on her face. "Sounds... suspicious."
What the heck are these guys into? Yuck...
GM Chyro |
Lyssa, that is a possibility. The docks are in the southwest....
Sabel Ea'tari |
"Sounds really... weird. Well Lyssa shall we go after the thieves who went to the docks or are we going to interrogate these suckers? I say we follow the others, maybe we can get the wares back."
Lyssa Kail |
Lyssa fills the guards in on the recent events, involving the pritate with compass earrings and the list of names from Mary's. "I expect these people to be a part of the same group. Please allow me to interrogate the thieves we've caught, because we need to learn more about this dangerous gang of pirates on the ship."
GM Chyro |
Meanwhile with the guards:
"Any interrogation will be conducted in the guard station. However, since you involved in apprehending them, you can write down any questions that could be relevant and we'll ask them. You can get the results on them with the guard captain's permission. I suggest you head over there if you want any personal dealings with this wrapped up."
The guards firmly yank the captured thieves together, about to drag if needed, taking them in the plaza's direction.
Sabel, you 'did' hear the other two got away right? Going by just the two of you is risky...just a thought.
Elsa, Grint, Malena, any course of action from here?
Grint Mavric |
"Well...The most obvious questions of course, 'who do they work for' and 'where can we find him'. Though I'd wager you are asking those questions as well. Also why did they break into the Kromm's shop and what do they want with the list of adresses on which the Kromm's were mentioned. Let me write that down for you, we have another lead to get to."
He looks to Elsa and Malena.
"Shall we head out to next adress? I have a feeling that Lyssa and Sabel might have already informed others of possible thieves.Let's head to the next one on the list."
Jadwiga Elsa Harcatha |
Yes Grint, lets do that. says Elsa letting Grint lad the way.
