Alright, this is open now. Before we start I'd like it if everyone gets a loose idea of what their character's location, status, etc. Are you in Thornkeep, or about to arrive? Have you met the other party members? Why are you in Thornkeep? Have you heard of the emerald spire? There are plenty of quests that your characters can find to lead them to the spire beyond just seeking wealth, glory, adventure etc.
Mannygoblin: slavery isn't legal in the river kingdoms, yes even for goblins (5th river freedom: slavery is an abomination). However, it is legal in Fort inevitable, so it's reasonable to assume that you escaped from there and came to Thornkeep.

Assasi is here now.. Everyone calm down!
My reasonings for being there are in her background!
With Meilu handling the disabled devices I'll move off towards more of a ranged role.. Prob gonna revamp crunch a bit before we start..

Should be interesting, since most people know the first level is inhabited by goblins. :/ Speaking of which, this may be helpful.
Common knowledge about the Emerald Spire: The Emerald Spire is an ancient Azlanti ruin in a large clearing in the echo wood. The ruins are a green glasslike substance surrounding an green spire jutting more than a hundred feet above the surface but far, far deeper underground. No one knows how many levels the emerald spire has, because no one has ever been to the bottom. It is a potentially very profitable dungeon, but is extremely deadly, and is known to cause random portals to other planes to pop into existence from time to time, so it is clearly extremely magical. As said above the first and only above ground level is inhabited by goblins.
Quest for Thornkeep:
The Goldenfire wizard's guild is missing 2 members (Jharun, a conjurer, and Tiawask, an illusionist) who disappeared in the spire while researching it's portals/connections with other planes. In addition to bringing the wizards back, They are still interested in research on the spire's portals.
Will get gameplay up in a sec.

That is kinda more than I know. I know someone here by the name of Baldwin the Merciful uses dropbox for posting maps. He has been here for a few years.

So... are we stuck doing theater of the mind? Sorry guys. :(
EDIT: To be clear, theater of the mind will still work fine. My home game usually doesn't end up using maps, except for very big encounters, which usually only happen when I twist the module to make stuff more "fun" for my players, or because it's a large party and I have to increase the monsters.

Please allow me to recap: we roll initiative, but God knows what for, since it's clearly not being followed. I am attacked - the attacks misses, yet people keep talking as to make friends. At this moment, I'm still waiting for answer from the GM and I notice the map has we all in a line: my group, conveniently, is all crammed, while the other group is all neatly organized with distance between themselves as if ready for the combat they didn't know it was coming, and conveniently their group head is right by me, in a place I can't either charge or go around. The GM finally responds, yay! Not before someone else responds for him, beforehand, that in front of us we have the first group in the world where everybody carries a torch (yet, at the same they use two-handed weapons and cast spells). Following the out of initiative mess, another dude runs from the back, the map magically changed to allow him a spot in front of me to attack me (lol!). More than that, readied actions are triggered out of order and he crits the hell out of me with a falcata, the weapon of choice of his elves ancestors (wtf? Lol). Well, that's promising! Did I miss anything?
I would be happy to respond to all of your points.
We all chose to use light sources because the GM told us that each light source has a 5 ft radius. So we each used one and spread out in a line so as to create an area that we can see. I hardly think this gives us an advantage, but merely somewhat levels the playing field for our group with one darkvision character to three darkvision on your team. My light is a sunrod tucked into his belt. The other two casters have light spells and Thoril is a monk who carries nothing in his hands.
The Law group both posted actions and readied actions. The Chaos group was attacked and chose to try to diplomatize instead of responding to our fight. I waited multiple days to allow people to take their turns that had initiative higher than me (including you) and you didn't do anything. The GM prompted us to act, so I took my turn. All of your answers (what were we wearing, what was our light source, map please) were all answered.
As for your concerns about the map--we had no map, so I offered to provide one. However, I don't have the module. So I put our group in the stated formation, and I said on the thread:
Hey guys! Here's hoping we all survive, but with the terrain and inhabitants I think Chaos has a distinct advantage. We should've brought some hellknight initiates or something with us :-) The map link is in my sig. Everyone can edit. This way DM CCD can draw in what the map looks like. I put our marching order and the door (blue line), but I didn't know the Chaos marching order. I also made up a picture for Karist since he didn't have one.
Bolded for emphasis. I assumed you were going to put your own marching order. When the map changed, I also assumed that the GM had put your correct marching order (since he was the one who changed the map and moved things). So what's your beef with that?
Finally, I don't appreciate your (in my opinion, childish) remark about my character build choice. Enrico is a half-elf from Taldor. I thought it was appropriate that the weapon of his ancestors was a falcata. Is Ancestral Arms fluff-wise supposed to be an elven weapon? Perhaps, but my build is legal. And it's supremely suboptimal, by the way. I just wanted to try out a fun character build. I could have very easily made a half-orc two-handed bloodrager or barbarian who would have hit you for even more with a PA greatsword crit. So don't knock my perfectly viable, fun attempt at a character, because you got dealt an unlucky crit. You're using a Hobgoblin AntiPaladin. Almost all of them are LE, but you wanted the racial benefits, right? Does that about sum it up?
Anyway, I thought it was strange that your group was still trying to use diplomacy after we attacked you. For our part, we were instantly attacked by a goblin before we entered the Spire and we saw it flee to get help. We then a short time later run into a group with three goblins. Of course we're going to attack. Our characters don't know that you have PC levels.
This is why I was worried about signing up for this game. PvP brings out the worst in people and often makes it not fun, but I thought I'd give it a try and see if this one would be different.

From what I've seen of other PbP games, in combat, everyone states their intended actions in whatever order they happen to post, and THEN the GM resolves those actions in initiative order. Saves anyone having to wait on posting. I assumed that was what was happening here.
And please, lets not let the PVP become personal

Well, that way poses problems for PbP because sometimes an action invalidates another. Suppose I say I'm attacking Kandoo but Thoril goes first and drops him. Now my turn is just wasted, or I have to redo it. That's why I think it's best to go in order, even if it's slower.
This is even more true in PvP as you could be subconsciously influenced by seeing the other people's actions, even if you're trying not to metagame.
I also second your comment that we should avoid personal attacks!
Kandoo Krom |
Hi guys, I'm waiting for a reply from a message to the GM. Sorry for the delaying. At the same time, I'm flying back home today - please don't expect anything from me on the next days, I'll be busy getting things round.
Out of the subject, "Don't let things personal" means exactly trying not to attack and offend anyone, especially if the comments I made were totally about issues I identified in game (and I'm not the only one seeing them).
This is just a game. From the moment you can't avoid getting butt hurt due to comments about characters or the environment, you most definitely should either control yourself to separate players from characters, or step out before you become the joke around.
Kandoo Krom |
The only application I see there is of a neutral person... Lol :) once we have chaotic people apply I'd be happy to check them, my friend.
Kandoo Krom |
Agreed. We definitely don't need more melee, and the arcane caster would be very welcome :)

Hey guys,
I apologize in advance, but I will have to step down for a while from my activities here in the Paizo forums. It will be at least some good months before I can come back.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I hope your games continue fun!
