Ephebe |
Ephebe's shoulders shook with silent laughter. "Yeah, he tends to take that personally."
She looked suddenly serious as the teacher turned and glared at them, pretending to be very intent on her textbook before turning and winking at Vai.

Michael Dacamara wrote:Cait stands up, stretches, and gives Kitty a look that seems to say "Okay, we can go now."Are we glossing over the walking part? If so I can just bring the hunters back in.
Oh, yes. Whoops, I got distracted by getting homerooms assigned and getting things moving again back at the school.
Kitty happily explored the forest roads of Anderail with Cait as her guide. She was almost as fascinated by the large cat as she was by the scenery around her. At one point she had to stop to bow and apologize to a startled elf after they nearly frightened him out of the trees when they suddenly dropped down from a higher branch to a lower one. Eventually they made their way back to the Dacamara house to find out who won the hunting competition.

Kitty peeks her head in the window.
"So....did you two just get your heads knocked together? Because I'll admit to being tempted to do so earlier, so it really wouldn't surprise me," she said with a grin.
"Jim" Rivets |
Do you mind if, in Advanced Mechanics, I start making Packmates? They're the little chests with legs from Eberron. I intend to be a walking First Aid Kit, with Packmates in my chest, to be released when there are students who need help.

Alright. It costs a little over 1250gp to make, meaning it'll take about 10 hours by the math, meaning probably 5-7 days of classes. I can take 10 on the creation of the body, as it's a DC 14 craft (sculpting). I don't know if you want to adjust this, but that's the math side of it. I don't know what Caster Level a homunculus counts for for the purposes of creation, but I have a +15 to the DC because of my lack of spells.
Edit:For the purposes of this, does it really matter how much time it takes? Can I just make it in a single class, for the hell of it?

I don't see why not. Especially given the equipment that you have access to in that classroom. Afaik the only other students currently in that class are Asch and Jiminy, and the lab is restricted access cause of all the cool stuff that gets stored in there. :)
Gustav Stonecutter |
Gustav eventually finds his way to Advanced Sculpting with minutes to spare. Most of the students have already started on today's assignment(written on the board in big letters are the words: "Be creative!"). The teacher, a gnome covered in dust and clay, is walking around the room keeping the students on task.
"Greetings, teacher." Gustav loudly introduced himself. "I am Gustav Stonecutter of the Stonecutters of Hard-Holden, from the Da'kami region. I have turned my entire town into a work of art, with carvings, stone statues, and sparkling fountains." the black-haired boy declared proudly. "I am a Maestro of ectoplasm, but I work in stone, metal, or leather equally well." The youth looked around the room. "But I am willing to teach less-talented people than myself. I have been looking for this art room since I arrived. Where do you need help?" Gustav held himself with an air of established arrogance.

"So....did you two just get your heads knocked together? Because I'll admit to being tempted to do so earlier, so it really wouldn't surprise me," she said with a grin.
Jeran Darkclaw |
Jeran prowled around the garden, feeling uneasy. The incident this morning was giving him all kinds of grief. He paced around trying to figure out how to get things back under control.
Agarthian Storyteller |
"Mom's sneaky when she wants to be." Anthony says as he rubs his forehead. "Don't know how she does it."
"If I wasn't winning that argument I would have heard her." Michael replies.
"You weren't win-"
"Boys!" Sylvia calls from the kitchen. "Do you want me to knock your heads together again?"
"No, Mom." They say in unsion.
"Well, I've got to give this fish to Cait Sidhe. I'll be right back."
"Ha! If that fish is for Cait then it wasn't part of the hunt, which menas I won!"
"Okay, little brother, you win." Michael says as he goes up to the roof to give his cat her lunch.
Kitty Tanaka |
"Why would the fish not count if it was for Cait?" she asks, confused since that hadn't been set out in the rules. She shook her head.
"Oh, never mind. It's not important. And Cait deserves that fish for a job well done. She makes an excellent guide." ^.^
*meep* *looks longingly at fish and reproachfully at Kitty*
Krays |
Krays will send off a message spell to Fei:
'Ready to meet with Jeran. Meet in cafeteria'
Kitty Tanaka |
"Don't worry," she sighed. "Saffire can swim."
*Meep!* Saffire stood proudly, thrilled with the idea of getting to swim in his dinner.
Gustav Stonecutter |
The gnome looks Gustav up and down with a critical eye.
"I am Professor Brindlebrook. Tell me, have you been in an art class or school before?"
"Uhhh, Hard-Holden only has a one-room school." Gustav admitted, losing some of his confidence. "And my father taught me stonecutting, while the dwarven faction showed me their artwork. But I did the rest by myself, and everyone said I was the best in hundreds of years! Look!"
Gustav stared around the room, and six balls of ectoplasm appeared in mid-air. They quickly grew, lengthening and becoming copies of the gnomish professor, right down to his clothing and beard in silver-pink tones. Invisible hands wiped the ectoplasm like clay as Gustav concentrated, making indistinguishable copies of the teacher. (Astral Construct; Maestro; Craft: Sculpting check: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (12) + 19 = 31) The copies began silently peering over several students' shoulders at their tables, some with their hands behind their back, some pointing at the student's creations.
"See?" Gustav said, turning back to Professor Brindlebrook. "I can do the same in stone or wood, with the right tools. Faster than anyone else you know. I am very good crafting the human form. I can even make stone statues of people I haven't seen before, just heard their descriptions." he boasted.
Fei, of the Sun Soul |
Fei finishes out the rest of his day in relative good order. Health and Medicine goes smoothly, Deep Meditation gives him a few precious moments to reacquire his center after the setbacks of the training session earlier, and the latest shipments to be processed at the Materials and Supplies building were on time and accurate.
He was just about to get some dinner and take some rest when...
Krays will send off a message spell to Fei:
'Ready to meet with Jeran. Meet in cafeteria'
Fei sighs, puts up his things and heads to the cafeteria (with the faint hope of eating something before this meeting takes place). ^.^
Kitty Tanaka |
"But can he see in stew?" Anthony asks.
"Not to my knowledge." Michael says as he returns. "He might not ever be able to, since I've been told to hold of further experimentation on him."
*me-eeep* Saffire says dejectedly, his whole body drooping.
Kitty looked exasperated. "You taught him to do that didn't you?" she asked Michael, trying to suppress a smile.
Gustav Stonecutter |
"So what I'm hearing is that you should know better than to walk into a classroom as a student and ask who you can teach?"
"You misunderstand." Gustav said quickly. "I am asking to be your assistant, and demonstrating my talent. I already have the basics of art. What better way to show my ability?"
(Yep, he's a 16-year-old boy, all right.)
Agarthian Storyteller |
"You misunderstand." Gustav said quickly. "I am asking to be your assistant, and demonstrating my talent. I already have the basics of art. What better way to show my ability?"
"Ah, you want to assist me in teaching, and are showing that you have the basics mastered? Unfortunately for you, this is Advanced Sculpting. If you wanted to show your ability then I must say you have gone about it the wrong way." Brindlebrook replies. "Your biggest mistake was assuming you could teach the 'less-talented' when you seem to have much to learn yourself."
Kitty Tanaka |
"I most certainly did not!" Michael says, insulted at such an outrageous accusation.
Bluff:1d20
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25
"Uh-huh," she says, dryly, clearly not buying it. "I'm sure he just figured it out all on his own and the time you spent with him wasn't at all used to coach him on how to react in order to convince me to allow you to continue using him as a subject for experiments. And while you're at it why don't you tell me that your favorite color is pink and you've taken up lacemaking as your new favorite hobby."
Kitty Tanaka |
"Does adding strands of DNA count as lacemaking?" Michael asks hopefully as Anthony tries to keep from laughing. "The resulting strands can be quite intricate and colorful."
[facepalm]
"No, no it doesn't count, Michael," she said shaking her head.
"You really are incorrigible, you know that right?"
Kitty Tanaka |
Kitty approached Michael and put her arms around his neck and smiled up at him. "Well, in this case it means that as soon as we get back to school we need to GET YOU A DICTIONARY! How did you ever get through Professor Relkav's class without knowing what incorrigible means? It's one of his favorite words," she said, laughing at the look on his face after she yelled.
Kitty Tanaka |
:)
"I finished that class as fast as I could. Most of his attention was on the troublemakers."
"He thinks everyone is a troublemaker. I hear he once tried to give the Headmaster detention," she replied with a grin.
Michael Dacamara |
"He thinks everyone is a troublemaker. I hear he once tried to give the Headmaster detention," she replied with a grin.
"Okay, the worse troublemakers." Michael admits. "I heard the 'table of sin' he broke up was a game of go-fish."
"Swap your rumors at the table, lunch is ready!" Sylvia calls from the other room. Anthony hurries to the food, unintentionally getting into a race with Saffire. Michael smiles a bit and follows. He even pulls out a chair for Kitty.
Kitty Tanaka |
Kitty blushes a little at the courtesy.
"Thank you for the food, Dacamara-sama," she said with a respectful bow before sitting down.
"So...what are we having for lunch?"
Michael Dacamara |
"A rather nice rabbit stew, with various vegetables and spices for added flavor. Nothing fancy, but still delicious if I do say so myself." Sylvia says as she hands out bowls of the still-steaming stew. "Let it cool a bit. Kitty, I put a bit of cold water in Saffire's, so he should be able to start eating right away."
"And the spoiling begins." Jerak says under his breath.
"How was your walk?" Michael asks Kitty as he stirs his lunch.
Gustav Stonecutter |
"Ah, you want to assist me in teaching, and are showing that you have the basics mastered? Unfortunately for you, this is Advanced Sculpting. If you wanted to show your ability then I must say you have gone about it the wrong way." Brindlebrook replies. "Your biggest mistake was assuming you could teach the 'less-talented' when you seem to have much to learn yourself."
Gustav got a stubborn look on his face. "I can sculpt anything you name." he challenged. The astral copies of the professor all turned to look at him expectantly.
Kitty Tanaka |
*MEEP!* Saffire quite literally dived into his lunch and began happily munching.
Kitty laughed. "That's Saffire talk for thank you."
"I had a nice walk. Cait made a very good guide and I got to do a lot of exploring. I saw something I think was a hawk. It was gliding like a bird of prey anyways. And I accidentally startled some poor elf, but I apologized, so it should be alright. We probably should have looked more carefully before jumping down that far," she admitted sheepishly.
She took a careful bite of her stew. "Mmmm. Delicious," she said happily.
Michael Dacamara |
"It should be," Anthony says, "I caught it. Better than Michael's pheasant anyway."
"Don't start that when we're eating." Jerak says, stopping the argument before it can start. "I'm not helping you clean up the mess."
"Don't worry, he was probably more startled by Cait than you. Or maybe it was both of you, since you both are kinda hard to hear." Michael takes a bite of his stew, chews, and swallows before continuing. "You two are the only ones I know that could sneak up on the other."
Kitty Tanaka |
Kitty laughed. "Well, Obaa-sama would always assign the worst chores to any children he could catch, so we all learned to be pretty quiet....although I would have loved to have been able to have a teacher like Cait. You can learn so much about stealth just from watching her. She's really amazing."
Gustav Stonecutter |
Brindlebrook smiles.
"Anything? Then create a sculpture depicting happiness."
His chin set, Gustav silently went to an empty table that had a tray of sculpting clay and a pitcher of water on it. The astral constructs around the room faded as the boy sat at the table. Snapping his fingers, various sculpting tools appeared in his hands (Call Item). Gustav scooped a mass of clay from the tray and unceremoniously dumped in front of himself on the table, and then bent to his work.
