Gustav comes from a mountainous region that is both extremely wealthy in precious metals and gemstones, while being almost uninhabitable because the soil cannot support a large population and the terrain is almost impossible to cross. As a result, the small community values food and textiles greater than gold and gems, paradoxically.
Hard-Holden of the Da'kami region: A 900-person (Human, Dwarf, and Elven) sized village with enough gold, silver, copper, and gems to qualify for a 10,000-person sized city by wealth alone. But almost impassable 9/12 months of the year due to snow, with rocky soil that doesn't grow much. So magical/divine family heirlooms provide most of the food, as well as merchant caravans reminiscent of the grocers of the American Gold Rush in California, where a chicken egg cost its' weight in gold dust to the miners. Spices to flavor the native goat meat are also highly valued.
Gustav was a prodigy from birth, working stone almost as good as a Dwarf. He became a renowned stone sculptor, and the town lavished many gifts upon the boy as he rebuilt their town in a massive work of art. But after the youth began showing psionic powers as well, the mining community knew they would have to send their favored son away to Avalon Academy, instead of stifling him in the rural mountainside.
Gustav has built up a shell against all this attention from adults, seeking the solace of crafting beautiful works of art in place of relationships with nervous expectations. When sculpting he is temperamental and focused, going for days without food or sleep until he finishes his new masterpiece. In a crowd he is silent but quick to find fault, especially of other artists.
Gustav is silent, spends money like it is water, and often stares at new-found inspiration, be it landscapes or persons. He gives his works of art away once they are complete, moving on to the next challenge. Gustav makes Astral Constructs and other ectoplasmic creations to help him in crafting or in battle, or to protect himself from harm.
Gustav has the black hair, prominent cheekbones, and broad shoulders of his homeland. The boy favors noble's outfits in his family colors of green and silver. He wears green Elven boots to match his tunics. Gustav wears no weapons, other than a dagger on one hip, but carries himself as proudly as a full-armed knight.
