Tamrin - Gunslinger of Tomorrow |
Arthur gives a weak smile directed twards melody, before his face hardens and he proceeds to do as previously posted
....Roger that. Going back to this post then:
Arthur works in relative silence for a few miniutes before saying "shouldn't we move the body to somewhere out of sight? It's kinda destracting, and will probably be several times more destracting for raelle, I'm not saying lie just tell her at a more convenient time, that way she'll have the proper time to grieve and get closure and she'll be able to help, as opposed to trying to bottle it up and being a mess while she tries to work possibly makeing costly errors, or adding the guilt of not being able to help from the pain of loosing a friend"
Sitting in a chair by the still-covered body of his daughter, Tamrin looks up from the datapad he was working on. The angle of the illumination from the device leaves his eyes shadowed, but sharply accentuates the furrow in his brow.
He gently places a hand on Vai's arm and quietly speaks the words to a spell. Both she and the table disappear a few seconds later, leaving the Sunwake patriarch the sole occupant of the center space in the laboratory.
"I didn't realize you were such a fragile genius that you had to work in pristine conditions to be productive. Good to know, but a pretty crippling asset in the real world" he states flatly to Arthur in a tone that does not invite reply (snappy or otherwise).
"And as far as Raelle is concerned," he adds with a sadder tone as he glances back down at his datapad and the video feed of corridor on it, "it looks like that ship has already sailed."

"I'm trying to help everyone else out, yes I'm used to working in pristine labratories, yes I'm used to working free of distractions, but when has a dead girl ever been a standard ficture in a labratory... Er that is one that had no intention of working on the body itself..."he sighs and steps back "look I'm sorry for your loss, really I am, from what little I knew of her she seemed a sweet girl, but she serves no purpose I can see in this room, and maybe you're used to the world, or universe ending in short notice and you being one of only a handful of people who could help, but this is my first and I can't be so blasé about it yet, as to raelle, the ship sailing? Aw hell that idiot already told her" he sighs "let's just hope his good intentions aren't enough to pave our way to hell... I still think she should be moved, but I'll go sit down now and get back to work, but thanks... Keeping her from being seen is at least something..." He does as he said but it seems the wind is gone from his sails somewhat, his posture shows that much

"yeah? And where would we go too, we're in the middle of a forest, do you figure we'll just happen to find a healer just walking through the forest? Or maybe a hospital or mage's guild just out of sight, do you even know which directionwe could get help at? Hells, there might not even be any intelegant life on this pitiful world.. Except for that coutal I saw earlier, keep your eyes out for that one," when the woman begins trying to lift the trees and fails on her own, he snorts and begins pushing as well, grunting and pushing past the pain in his wing, smoke pouring from his nostrils as he does so. As soon as he starts pushing the tree starts splintering and breaking to his very touch, though not enough for them to truely be broken

as he pushes on the tree, she pushes it so it goes safely off of him.
"Is there a better option? I've no clue where I am, and I have a feeling rainbow doesn't either. And all I need to do is find something to bind it with. If i can't find something, I'll try and make do... Coatl? That doens't sound like any color I know..."
The yellow boxes |
"Then find something to bind it with, geeze, and a coutal isn't a color, it's a malovent beast, annoying creatures, they're these flying snake creatures, covered in scales and garish multicolored feathers, they're bigger than you are, but not bigger than me, is that enough of a description for you?"
The yellow boxes |
"Well then hurry up, I don't like the spilling of my blood, it's mine and that gives it value. Wait... Like me but.... " He shoves aside the smaller being to look where he saw the coutal, falling on his face a couple times as he seems to trip on nothing, and finds a body of water... And his reflection "aww no, f+ this shit... No no no! What happened to my awe inspiring form! What happened to my arms, my legs! I look like some kind of gay chicken lizard"
@MG: I half expect it myself, I allow bad things to happen to my characters if it would make sense, espically after Dave's outing... That was a learning expirence, it wasn't pleasant, but I believe that after that incident my characters show more deapth

the woman gets up and walks over, still not upset.
"Well, I think rainbow looks fine... But people fall in. They look different. Everyone falls in, though. Everyone is diffrent from when they fall in."
she checks to make sure his wing isn't hurt more from the movement.
"You'll be alright, thoguh."
she helps move thigns out of the way so he can move out from under the trees.
"You should be able to get out, now..."

"I...I suppose we can postpone the visit until this weekend. I mean, we can't just let this keep happening," she said, her voice trembling. The truth was that she didn't think there was anything she could do even if they found the murderer. She had never in her life felt more helpless, not even when she was invisible.Michael sighs as he read the note that had appeared in front of him.
"Kitty, Ginni was murdered. Ace and Tyrrin, whoever that is, are meeting now. Do you want to go back or head to your family?"
Michael stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her, hugging her softly as she trembled. Whoever did this to his sweet, caring Kitty had better hope someone else got to them first.
"We'll get the person responsible, Kitty, I promise..."
"That's what I'm afraid of," she said in a small, terrified voice. "I've been trained to fight my whole life and this person made it so that I just stood there and let them....let them...." she sobbed. Jeran Darkclaw |
...
Jeran activated the containment unit which once released began to form around the perpetually dying form of Tryko'Sam.
It's a forcefield formed from nanites. Mechanically it's the equivalent of a resilient sphere only mobile.
He checked the readings to make sure that this area of space was in fact deserted and noticed some energy anomolies. He made a note of them for potential future research, but for now his priority was getting Tryko'Sam and getting out of here.
His sensors would be able to detect the lack of positive energy, but without a more in depth survey the lack of metals would not be noticed at this time.
Once the containment field was complete with Tryko'Sam inside, he secured it to his mech and punched the coordinates for home into the starcaster. His mech reappeared just outside the Agarthan atmosphere and he called it in.
"Fido to Control, I have a potential containment problem up here. I have the situation in hand at the moment, but need a secure location to deliver the package. Please coordinate with Avalon. They already have a team working on this."

Ginni |
Phaezeriel moves to the door and departs for the isolation wards on the other side of the infirmary. He stops by a supply station and collects a few softly glowing crystals on his way, and enters a notice into the infirmary data system that he will be unavailable for the rest of the day and passing authority to the duty nurse.
Phaezeriel stops with his hand on the door to the room in which Ginni was waiting for him and took a deep breath, squaring his shoulders as if in preparation for a difficult task.
Inside, the room is only dimly lit, and he settles onto a stool at the head of her bed. Phaezeriel places the glowing crystals close to hand, then places his hands against the sides of her head, Physical contact makes this kind of delicate work easier.
His thoughts come to her softly, reassuringly, ::Ginni, I am going to help you. I need you to try not to fight me. We will have you set right soon.::
With just a brief moment's pause, his consciousness sinks into her shattered mind and he gets to work on the largest and most complex puzzle he has ever attempted.
What was left of Ginni's mind had no sense of self. That would have required cohesion, and everything that made up her was blasted apart. Memories drifted across her mind like bubbles with no connection to each other or to when or where they might have happened. There are three anchor points, but they couldn't be more different than each other. The first anchor is jagged and cut. The pieces near it fall apart faster and they cannot be put together here. The third anchor is whole, but every piece that makes up Ginni is rejecting it. None of the bubbles linger here and it's as if her mind were trying desperately to eject it. The second anchor, on the other hand, was solid and the pieces of Ginni's mind gathered around it. This connection point seems like a good place to start, somewhere that he can at least begin to find pieces that went together.
For clarity: Anchor one is her connection to Kai and it is ragged because it was cut when he was killed. Anchor two is her connection to Melody and it is active and healthy. Anchor three is her connection to her murderer which is why she is trying to reject it.

Raelle burst into the room, Ardiente in tow.
"Umm...hi. What can I do to help?" she said, a little bit out of breath from hurrying here while swallowing down the tears that had been threatening to escape.

"Ace" |
"I think that means the killer knew that. I mean, the other victims didn't have their psyches fractured, right? Just Ginni? Yes, I know complicated words. I pay more attention in psychology class than I let on. Don't spread it around. You'll ruin my reputation," she said sarcastically. "So the question is did they know it before they attacked her or after? It makes a difference to how close the killer was able to get to her before the attack. Was it someone she knew? Or was it just someone she ran into while she was alone who found out that they'd picked their victim badly this time? Answering that question could really change the course of your investigation."
"Its OK, Jai, you're secret of being smarter than you pretend to be is safe with me." Ace says, continuing to grin. "Alright, that makes sense, any ideas how to figure that out?"

Arthur Barren |
@vai's dad's comment: Arthur blushes and mumbles out "ah, well then, thank you...I'm not very good at that... Magic and identifying it I mean..."
@Raelle's arrival: "oh ah good, yes, you can work or this station next to Hermes here, among those working here,* you have the best knowledge of magics, so I figure that any help in that regard would be good there, unless you have a better plan, I'm going to be building a suit to keep Melody here alive... I'm not actually sure what Hermes and Melody are doing..."
Melody Waverider |
Mel's work area was a mess, an Vai (if she were here) would definitely know this is norm for Mel considering how she kept her room.
She glances up when Raelle arrives. Hey.. she waves to Raelle, handing Hermes a small bundle of wires. ahhh, hold this, oh and keep it away from magnets
Mel goes over to greet Raelle. I was just analyzing the Time-space rift energy pattern and working on a device to deliver the necessary energy burst to close the rift for good.
She shows Raelle her work that is quite the mess of numbers, fact, figures, charts and graphs. as you can see here, showing some red and green graph, the energy fluctuations are following a standard Omega-Delta pattern, but that really isn't normal for this kind of phenomenon. I am seeing indications of some sort of influence from inside the rift. something intelligent. What you can do is...
she grabs another handful of papers and hands them to Raelle, take a look at all of these, look for common patterns and the frequency of occurrence. maybe we can identify who or what is in there.
sorry, but sometime Mel gets carried away, and forgets not everyone sees things like she does. but she does know Raelle is smart and has confidence in her ability.
Raelle del Sol |
Raelle looked a little overwhelmed at first being thrown into the situation without a full explanation, but then Melody started shoving numbers at her and that she could understand. She grabbed onto it like a lifeline, reading through the whole mess rapidly. With the rearragement of her tattoos, the one that had been hidden by her hair, a series of interlocking wavy lines, could now be easily seen sitting on the side of her neck just below her left ear. It was especially obvious because it started glowing when she started looking at the numbers.
"I don't understand," she said, confused. "These calculations are all in four dimensions....a rift like this should be at least eight dimensional. Minimum. And this section is just plain wrong. If the numbers happened in this order the rift would collapse in on itself and we wouldn't be having this problem in the first place."

Raelle del Sol |
"Is there something neither of us are understanding here, but is ovbious to you or something?" He snorts and mumbles "so that's what that feels like
She snorted. "Get used to it. I spend most of my time here trying to figure out what the heck is even going on. Now included. I came in here knowing that there was an end of the world type problem and that once we solve it then Vai can come back. I'm getting up to speed as fast as I can, and I'll be honest, I don't understand half this stuff. I don't really understand what you're really trying to accomplish here. Except there's this rift and it looks like a project to close it. Let me know if I'm guessing correctly. What I do know is what the equations that make up reality are supposed to look like. Because I can't shut them off even when I want to. Mathemagics is the only class so far that my grades aren't dropping drastically in. So we have here a bizarre situation where this ability is actually useful, so let's take advantage of it, shall we? You're both going to have to redo all of your calculations because your base equations involving the rift are incorrect. They were oversimplified I think and bits got lost in translation. Is there any way for me to see the rift itself? That's the fastest way to be sure I can give you the right numbers. But you also need to alter your program to use multi dimensional equations. I can't express the properties of an eight dimensional object in two dimensional math. It should be simple for you, just a change in perspective. Once you have the right numbers I bet all of your calculations will start making much more sense."
She pressed her lips tightly together, her expression determined as she waited for a response. Her grey eyes were glowing slightly, to match the lit up tattoo on the side of her neck.Djalos Tyon |

Standing in front of this onslaught is akin to watching a hundred meter tidal wave roar up in front of you, and then have it crash down. Miss Jones is buried amidst a raging maelstrom of guilt, grief, sadness, rage, happiness, joy... every emotion that could possibly impede one's performance in a duty.
Everywhere the storm of emotions raged, color was brought to the black and white world. The various books and notes that took up the shelves flew upon, unleashing a slew of memories:
...eating a delicious frozen cream dish while looking over the edge of a cloud giant citadel...
...impassively slaying all of the infants in the royal nursery...
...heaving a corrupt despot, still desperately pleading, to the ravenous horde of insurgents...
...A wardrobe. For some reason, this moment stays crystallized, consistent, throughout this storm of emotion and memories. He slowly opens the wardrobe, and then-
Djalos struggles in. There's something fundamentally different about the young elf's mindscape projection, but you don't have time to focus on that right now. He, with great effort and with tears streaming down his face, closes the door on that memory, violently. Miss Jones can sense quite a few emotions in that one: happiness, wonder, well-being... and something new. Shame.
With his small amount of psychic talent, Djalos clears a space for himself amidst the psychic storm and sits there, crying. There are some amazing memories in there, but at the same time, there are so many cruel, callous things he's done. Understandably, he's wrecked.
On the outside, Djalos' face gradually turns ashen, and in an instant, he hunches over and begins sobbing violently.

I think it will be up to us two, also, I suggest you look again, at my work, you will find that there are in fact all dimensions you need, however, due to something going on, 4 are masked. I went ahead and worked out the details over here.

This connection point seems like a good place to start, somewhere that he can at least begin to find pieces that went together.
In that way he cannot entirely explain, Phaezeriel moves through the chaos that is, in a very real sense, all that is left of Ginni. It seems that the only stable points are the involuntary connections she forms to others, and of those, only one seems a viable place to start.
Phaezeriel spends some time looking at the memory fragments that are nearest to this stable point. Three of them stand out amongst the others. They are not memories that fit together, and there is no way he could explain why they stood out, but they are the starting point. Somehow.
After a while, Phaezeriel collects the three memory fragments and holds them in place near the most stable point. shifting them this way and that until he has them in what seems like a chronological order. He exerts his will to tether them to the anchor nearby, and to hold them in the correct order. The small child huddled in the ally first, the girl being bullied in the orphanage second, and the memory of hurrying to a performance last. Phaezeriel imposes some distance between them to allow space for the missing memories, and watches to see if they will stay or if they will fly apart.

"I most definitely don't want that either. Where outside of campus is good to have him meet us? Town wouldn't be good. Too many people to get in the way. Maybe we can go and you could open a portal to that plane somewhere so he'd still be out of our plane at least if anything happens? Where would be a good place outside school to set that, if that's what you want to do. I'm afraid I don't get out of the lab much. Outside is... outside..."He absent-mindedly straightens the things on Vare's desk as he speaks, organizing pens by color and straightening papers.
Vare's concerns furrow his brow and his mouth twists into a tight-lipped grimace. He's quiet for a long few moments, staring at the sigils and glyphs that he had been preparing on the floor.
"There's no ideal place on this plane which I know of, and a Gate to the Plane of Dreams is not something we want to be open for any amount of time. It is... a chaotic place, and who knows what may spill out during that time."
Vare idly rubbed his chin, and the frown remained. "Alright, do we have a way of relaying our position to the one doing the retrieving? We are going to teleport to a remote area of Agartha and attempt to contain him there and remove the possession."

Excellent.
Fei just barely caught a quick motion and a subvocalized incantation as the other Vai cast a spell. The spell was Quickened Mislead. Fei also knows that quickening such a powerful spell is beyond most mortals, even the naturally magically inclined Dragons. 10th level spell slot.
Given that the Vai he is facing is likely an illusion, and that the other is once again invisible, Fei quickly taps into the lab's advanced sensor suite - a piece of precision equipment used for many different experiments. Fei is able to use the sensor suite to find localized disruptions in air currents which tells him that his real opponent has moved opposite to the illusory double, putting distance between herself and him, obviously intending to strike from the safety of range.
Fei has not yet taken an action. Darth Vai has total concealment, though Fei can pinpoint her square without having to roll against her Stealth thanks to the sensors available to him.
