"Oil and water would be a better comparison, since oil makes fire burn longer."
*CHOMP*
*chew*
*swallow*
*repeat*
"Yes, but with oil and water you don't get the fun explosions. With Mom and Soli, you can take bets on how much gets destroyed before the arguments are finished," she joked.

Krays |

Nods to Vakkler
Draconic/Kobold: "Honored Elder."

Ephebe |

"Ms. Sunwake!" someone calls. Ephebe looks up from her food (or...maybe not...) to see Professor Vakkler. Slarrow rests on his shoulder.
The kobold nods. "I thought I'd find you here. I have a...extra-credit assignment for you. Where is your brother? The troublesome one--James, I believe."
She cocked her head for a moment, searching for Jimmy's presence. "It looks like he's in the supplies building right now, Professor," she said politely.

"You'd have to ask Dennis for sure but I'm pretty sure that's what he'd call even odds." :)

Krays |

Grins ear to ear at Vakkler's response...the more things change...the more he stays the same.

Vakkler Relkav |

"Is there a reason you need my niece when you're looking for my nephew?" Keaton asks Vakkler. "We are in the middle of a celebration of sorts after all."
Vakkler frowns at Keaton. "Excuse me. I don't know who you are, but I don't actually owe you an explanation. I am a teacher. That being said, I require her for the same purpose as I require her brother."
I'm thinking Vakkler hasn't met Keaton--and if he has, it's likely only been a brief greeting. Vakkler isn't a fan of undead. :P

"Ummm, Professor Relkav, Uncle Keaton is a teacher here too. He teaches the religion classes."

Krays |

Lets out an awkward giggle at Vakkler's response...and a black scale falls from out of his robe on the table, and expands to normal size...
"Ummm...excuse me!" Krays quickly leaves the table in an embarrassed rush...
He's molting...

"Uncle Kea--"
Vakkler's eyes widen."Ah. M-my apol..." He coughs. "I am apologetic for this misunderstanding. I am appreciative of your time, but I require the two children for, as I explained, an extra-credit project. I am making a trip to town soon, and my slurks need to be looked after. I trust the boy to know how to deal with them, but I do not trust the boy otherwise. The girl has a record for being a predictable and untroublesome girl. I am willing to work with both of them to develop suitable gratification for their assistance. Is this understood?"

Vakkler turns to glare at the departing 'kobold'...and spots the scale. His eyes widen, then narrow.
He snatches and pockets it with amazing speed. The gamekeeper turns back to the others as if nothing had happened. "Is it understood?" he repeats.

Vakkler Relkav |

"Is what understood, Professor Relkav?" Tamrin asks from behind them, having just entered the cafeteria.
"Ah, Professor Sunwake. I was just explaining the matter to your daughter. You can ask her 'uncle'. Now...Ephebe, yes? Are you coming or not? Your help would be appreciated."

Ephebe |

"Daddy!" she exclaims happily and leaps up to give her father a hug.
"How long have you been back? Have you already talked to Mom? Oh...yeah, you look concerned so I'm taking that as a yes. Um, excuse me for just one moment."
"Professor Relkav, I'm so sorry, but I won't be able to assist with this project. Under ordinary circumstances I would be happy to help, but I'm afraid I have some non-school responsibilities that have to come first right now. But I'm sure Jimmy can handle things on his own. He's been much more responsible lately. Something about not wanting to face the wrath of Fieri if he gets any more detentions." ;P

Vakkler glowers. "I see. Very well. Thank you for your time." He departs in a hurry.
But he doesn't go straight to Jiminy. He pauses in the hallway, making sure nobody's looking. Then he creeps over and pulls a latch.
A compartment opens. He reaches into his pocket and procures the large scale.
The kobold pauses, examining the thing. Veeeeery interesting. This'll have a purpose, I think.
He places the scale within. Glancing about once more, he closes the compartment and hurries off.
Vakkler enters the supplies room. He looks about. Where is that demented?...

Jiminy, Prankster of the Future |

"Hey, Professor Relkav," he said, cheerfully, a large stack of lumber swung casually over his shoulder.

"Okay. Umm, well, we were just having a bit of a celebration just now since Uncle Keaton is back to being human. care to join us?" she said, turning her attention back to her dad.
He gives her as big of a hug as he can before she talks to Professor Relkav, and waits until she finishes and he leaves.
"To answer your questions - I just got back about half an hour ago, and yes your mom has given me the telepathic 'upload' of what's been going on while I've been gone," as he rubs his temple slightly for comedic effect.
"And as I was about to ask my baby girl if she would do me the honor of having dinner with her old man, I'd love to. Though you may need to catch me up on the whole 'Keaton being human' thing - congrats on that by the way, brother" as he gives him a quick handshake before he sits down across from his pile of plates. :)
And the RL game calls. I've got to slam some templates on some beasties STAT if I want them to have a chance in hell of surviving contact with my players tonight. Hooray for high-level end of campaign battles! Happy weekend all ;P

Asch Redgrave |

Asch steps out of the shadows near the entrance of the cafeteria…and then notices his master. "Ah…errr welcome home Boss…how was the trip…" -"He just got backhe can't know about the attack yet…right?"- Asch thinks to himself as he contemplates slipping back into the shadows…

…stupid telepaths…though 'I' know he knows Asch doesn't which is why it's so fun…though of course Dale has to go and do the who 'rl' thing. Feh who needs real life?

Somewhere within the school, a lone figure stands in an empty room. Body covered in runes and sigil, the figure's arms raise and stays still as a circle burns it's way into existence on the floor. The runs and sigils on the figure's skin burst into colorful flames that only grow brighter as more power is gathered, amplified, and held in place by the circle. Slowly, achingly, the circle is lifted and wraps around the figure, adding another layer of symbols to the bare skin. Gasping, the figure falls to ground as all visible signs of the ritual vanish.
Someone else enters the room now, and goes to pick up the collapsed ritualist and take them both from the room.
"Is it done?"
"Yes..."

Amada |

Amada’s eyes pop wide open. She sits up so fast that her hair flings over her horns. Gently she tucks onyx locks back and looks around.
“I feel like hell” she thought. Suddenly a horrid smell caught her nose. “IS THAT AWFUL SMELL COMING FROM ME!” She stuck her nose under her arm and then tugged her shirt up to her nose for a closer sniff. “Shower”, she thought with panic. “If Asch see’s me looking or smelling like this I don’t know what I’ll…” Her thoughts trail off as her stomach growled menacingly from beneath her black shirt. As gentle as a summer breeze, the aroma of freshly baked rolls came wafting in. Like a shark in water sprinkled with blood, her eyes turned black and her little fangs became exposed. “I don’t care if I look like dumpster-diving troll, I AM GOING TO EAT!”. She tossed one foot out of bed feeling around for a slipper or shoe that she can quickly put on. She found her shoes and quickly darted out of the room. Her feet wobbled beneath her yet she paid them no mind. “Rolls! Those blasted rolls! Where are they!”. Before she continued running to the cafeteria she decided to take a detour and head towards her room. As she bursts through her door she slams it behind her, yanks a drawer open. Gently she fumbles through some clothes and plucks some out. After a shower she wiggles her way into her outfit, combs her hair and finishes up some makeup. She takes a look around the room, still wondering where Asch could be. She wondered about Ephebe too. She couldn't help but count herself lucky to have such a good friend and significant other in her life. Her freshly rouged lips curled into a smile as she thought to herself how much she couldn't wait to see them again. One last look around to make sure she was not forgetting anything and it was off to the cafeteria! She snatches up her bag and locks the door behind her. Her legs shake for just a moment. “I wonder where Asch could be? I could use his support right now, I can barely stand!” Being so hungry she almost forgot how weak she still was.

Enre |

Enre looks at the buildings that make up the school he had heard so much about. He wonders to himself "Can they really help me here? I think a better question is can this place stand up to me if I should lose myself here while training." he than pushes those thoughts aside he had to control himself so he could face Arlanna and Ileana again. He walks into the building. To all who see him, he is a bit of an odd sight he is a massive man in a dark cloak. As he moves he seems oddly graceful for his size.
Enre starts to look around the school making a note of places and being amazed at all the sights of this new place. He understands from his searching around how this place could indeed help him. After walking for some time Enre thinks to himself "I should go find the Headmaster so he could tell me all I need to know." With that thought he goes off to try to find the headmaster's office or find a teacher to tell him the way.
Idea is to have him walk around looking lost until someone feel nice enough to help him. I also had him just get to the school I hope that is alright.

Enre |

Enre looks down at the man who bumped into him, he guesses from how he yelled detention that this is a teacher. He goes into his cloak and pulls out a paper and hands it to the man than says in a deep voice that had an odd musical quality to it "I am Enre. I just arrived here. This letter is to show I am new here. I was looking for the head masters office so I could get my classes." He than watches and waits for the teacher answer.

Jiminy, Prankster of the Future |

Jiminy, Prankster of the Future wrote:"Hey, Professor Relkav," he said, cheerfully, a large stack of lumber swung casually over his shoulder."Hello, Mr. Sunwake." Vakkler quickly explains the job.
"Yeah, sure, no problem. After all these detentions I know almost as much about the care and feeding of slurks as you do," he joked.
Assume this happened earlier. Not wanting to disturb the flow of the current conversation. :)

Vakkler examines the paper. "I see." From the way he says it, most would assume he'd learned of a death in the family.
He sighs and hands the paper back. "Follow me. Don't touch anything. Don't talk in the hallways. Follow my footsteps exactly."The kobold leads the massive student through the hallways. If Enre didn't know better (and perhaps he does)he'd think the professor was taking the complicated route on purpose.
They arrive at a large door. Vakkler nods. "This is the headmaster's lair. Don't talk back to him, don't make eye contact and do not by any means get him angry. Farewell."
The kobold departs, rather hurriedly.
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31

Enre |

Enre shakes his head as professor leaves thinking on his words "So do not make him angry? That is a bit funny." Enre than walks into the room saying "I am Enre. I am a new student here." He than pulls the papers out once again "Here are my papers." He puts the papers on the desk before him.
I am assuming there is a desk."

Enre |

Enre thinks for a moment before answering "I think first we should find out what I am. Other than my brother and his men I have never seen anyone look like I do. That may help gauge how bad I will get once I get older. Second I think I need to practice doing things without my seal on. Other than that I really do not know what to do." He shrugs after speaking than waits for the Headmaster to answer him.

Tamrin looks up from the table and his family, his demeanor changing as he sees Asch. And Asch is...well, let's just say he is a bit uncomfortable being under his master's gaze right now.... (o.O)
After a few seconds he just says, "I will speak to you later - do not leave Avalon until that happens," in a tone that brooks no question and no back-talk from his apprentice.

Ephebe |

She shoots Asch a sympathetic glance.
"Uncle Keaton, I don't think the human stomach is physically capable of winning in an eating contest against one of us," she said, laughing, hastily downing the last of her lunch.
"Dad...I'm guessing Mom already asked you to have a talk with me. I have something I need to go and do pretty soon, but honestly I'm fine. So if you have other things," she said, slightly nodding towards Asch, "that are more urgent, well, we can talk later."
"Also, the whole Uncle Keaton being human again thing kinda ties into the thing with Asch as well."

Keme Tokala |

"Stop bugging me already, gramps. I'm going. Do what you want, it's not like I care," he said with a nonchalant shrug.
A brief flash can be seen in the hallway of Avalon. A young man looks around.
"Interesting."
This would be Hope, yeah, don't say I didn't warn you that he was a jerk. :)

Genosuke |

Anohter brief flash, and an older robed figure appears.
"Fortunately for you, what you care about is irelevant. If I 'bug' you, as you say, find comfort that your apathy is not a family trait." He concentrates for a second. "Come, pup. The center of power here looks to be this way," he says indicating a direction and that he is to go first.

Keme Tokala |

"Whatever. I can get 'enrolled' and assigned classes and all that jazz so that I know what to ignore," the boy said with a cocky grin.

Genosuke |

"You've more tails than sense, pup. Hopefully they will even out here.
Heavens forbid you should actually see the forrest for the trees, and what you can gain from tutelage here."

"There is nothing more urgent to me right now than you," he replies with a warm smile, giving her hand a gentle squeeze. "And your mom isn't much of a worrywart normally, so when she's concerned - there is something going on that honestly isn't 'fine'."

Ephebe |

She smiled in spite of herself. "Thanks, Dad. It...hasn't been the easiest couple of months. You...you know right? That I''m not in the same body now that I left in when I started the time loop...and about the alterations?"
