"True seeing reveals your natural appearance overlaid with that your aspect, recognizing both as part of your true self."
Pasted from threefold aspect that I plan on using.
Doesn't show gender change, just the age change.
He would see through the magic that caused the gender change.

icehawk333 |

True seeing sees through everything-
You confer on the subject the ability to see all things as they actually are. The subject sees through normal and magical darkness, notices secret doors hidden by magic, sees the exact locations of creatures or objects under blur or displacement effects, sees invisible creatures or objects normally, sees through illusions, and sees the true form of polymorphed, changed, or transmuted things. Further, the subject can focus its vision to see into the Ethereal Plane (but not into extra-dimensional spaces). The range of true seeing conferred is 120 feet.

That isn't to say gender swapping your true form is impossible....

Tybalt Baneko |

Because it would be creepy for all involved for Dave and age 15 Tybalt body to shack up...

Tybalt Baneko |

Age is his main goal for this because he's tired of looking like a kid.
Gender swap is added on because 1 why not and 2 it makes liking a guy easier for Tybs to deal with psychologically.

Tybalt Baneko |

Like I said, the age is more for Tybs than Dave. He doesn't want to look like a little kid anymore.

"Ace" |

I get Tybs' personal feelings, but its not like the age or gender "issue" has actually come up much in game, that I've seen.
I think if nothing else, Tybalt is perhaps emotionally and mentally immature. Not saying he is or isn't, but I could see that being likely.
Before you go through such a change, perhaps Tybs should talk to Ace, whose been both guy n girl a fair amount. He does identify with being a male however, moreso at least.

Ghalen Kiln |

Hey Royston, just so you're aware...your background and all...
The young man standing in the headmaster's doorway is dressed in Imperial Inquisitor regalia.
I didn't realize you were still in there...
Dunno how much he'd know about Dragon Knights, though...but if he could recognize one, Ghalen does have the silver irises that are a dead give away...

If I've forgot your action, please let me know and I'll reclarify. Obviously anyone can see the tracks described under Anahita, but not necessarily all the details I provided her (High Survival check and all).

Ya. The age is a personal thing for him. Also happens to be why Johnny dumped him, but Tybs doesn't know that.
Tybs is actually a little more mature than a normal catfolk of his age. There's a reason why they have -2 to wisdom racially. But, as always, age, mental age, and physical age are a hard thing to describe for Tybs.
It really isn't a "change" per say. He adds the spell to his item and he can actually be male or female now. Both have benefits and after he gets used to it, both will feel as natural as the other. He's already almost androgynous, this isn't that big of a step.
And if it were a change, he probably wouldn't go to you about something related to Dave. Not to mention the severe trust issues with you...

Well I'm back now, after a long and tedious battle with an enemy known throughout the land by the vile name of paperwork, and it appears I've missed out on a few things.
Oh, lyn, I might not have gotten that reply about my teacher from a while back, I haven't seen it although my laptop is acting a little weird at the campus ever since I got into college so that might be the reason. Could you send the last reply you gave me again?

lynora |

Yeah, I see no reason why Tybs can't be genderfluid if he wants to be. Especially after his relationship with Johnny who was so extremely genderfluid we had to create a new pronoun for s/he. I think this was something that attracted Tybs to Johnny and I can see why this would be a quality Tybs might want to emulate.

The chances of my finding it are not high. I don't even remember what the concept was you were looking at.

I was doing a runaway assassin teacher, a mute, running from his former organization if I remember correctly.

lynora |

Dami, here you go.
Elements of Style: Avalon version.
::this:: means telepathy.
*this* is often used to denote a sound such as a familiar's squeaking or a door creaking. It adds emphasis for dramatic effect when a long description does the opposite of what you want. Can also be used for actions such as *pounce*.
Italics is used for narration and internal thoughts.
Speech does not have to be bolded, but there is no negative consequence of doing so. However, if any character run by the GM is using bolded text for speech it's because they're yelling. (Yes, the scene where Taron got his middle name is an excellent example.)
>>this<< is currently under debate as some folks use it for internal thoughts and some folks use it for radio communications. I would like to hear from the group at large which one they want to use it for, if either.

lynora |

New pronoun? Hardly. Hi and shi and the like have been around for years to my knowledge.
And those weren't really working. Many alternate pronouns didn't work in the context of a written game. Ended up with s/he. Not ideal. Can't pronounce it. But it was more clearly understood. I'm not saying alternate pronouns are a novel concept. I'm saying they tend to be a bit clunky which is why people keep making more.

Arr then this could be fun, he most defiantly spot you as a Dragon Knight, if so you would then recognize Royston in an instant, he's Dragon empire Top Ten most wanted, and has been for a number of years, the bounty on his head the same as a very well known terrorist here,
It would be like seeing Osarma-Ben-larden in the he masters office at Etten collage.
Thing is He will look at you and say nothing but you can tell he noted you,
For you it may be hard to link this quiet unassuming man with his most wanted perp sheet that Lists as his crimes
Multiple well known Acts of Terrorism
Sedition linked to a number of rebel groups
Mass Murder,
war crimes.
Aiding the Enemy
Etc
The warrant for his capture and execution had the personal signature of the Empiror himself
This is a guy the empire really really wants to get its hands on.
As he seems not to have reacted its, over to you, may be fun to find him and have a chat.
:)

As an element of style - radio has typically been used as normal speech (because you are speaking into the radio), but Vai's radio communications are actually source in her brain. Hence I use the telepathy markers ::this:: when Vai communicates via radio.
Just an interesting note.
Personally, I think we should continue to use "this" for radio, and just remember to narrate for clarity that you are using radio.

I vaguely remember...there were problems with it I remember. Heck, I don't even know which class he was supposed to be teaching. I thought it was a student character actually...but midterms are making my brain fuzzy.
Working on the last midterm now. I really hate take-home essay midterms. I would much rather just take a test. >.<

Fate-seer |

Yeah, there were problems with the background, I think I covered the prestige class I was using before in a different PM so that should be taken care of. We never really decided if he was going to be a student or a teacher, I remember saying if a position for medicine or poison, if not assassination, came up as a class then I would make him a teacher.

It denotes frustration. I was using it to indicate my exasperation with my long and rather difficult midterm.
No, it's just funny that it was broken up like it was. That's all.

I'm with FCD.
Radio is talking, or it's nearly telepathic, so use the ::message:: bit, unless it's actual verbalized speech, then continue to use quotes.
Thus, we can do away with >> words << all together.
There's my vote on the >> words << thing.
I'll drop any internal monologue hence forth, so that only mind reading or sense motive checks will display it when asked for. I kind of dislike monologging as a rule (didn't like it the various times I did), feels very much like revealing things as if telepaths were present.
I also heartily request we /not/ be lazy about descriptions. Doesn't take much to add in whether or not your speaking into a radio or not. Never hurts to add descriptive text to storytelling, ever. Plus, why not practice our English skills, being lazy about communicating is a /bad/ idea in life.
My three cents! Raising the ante.

lynora |

So if I've counted right that's two votes for using >>this<< for radio and two votes for not using it.
And I'm probably not going to completely do away with internal monologue ever myself. It's part of my writing style and helps the reading experience be closer to reading a book. But that's a stylistic choice and is certainly not required.
As far as description goes I am probably never going to have enough to make you happy Dami. I'm better at writing conversations. And too much description tends to feel repetitive to me. But occasional reminders that others cannot read my mind so some description is necessary is certainly fair. For all of us. It can be easy to think that what is obvious to oneself should be obvious to everyone. :)

Heh, be prepared for questions and Sense Motive checks!

Not so much emulate. Tybs liked Johnny because he thought it would be like having a girlfriend and a Bro at the same time. Didn't really work out that way. Johnny is the reason that Tybs is beginning to be attracted to the same gender. As he was both, he kind of broke down the wall between sexuallity for him. He was totally straight before.
Now that he is attracted to Dave, having the option of being a girl helps him rationalize his feelings. "I act like a girl, so I might as well be able to be one."
♣♠Magic♦♥ |

Remember that gender issues can be a pretty big deal to people Tybalt. Not saying you haven't thought of that, but it can be pretty defining.
I hope I'm not offending anyone with this. I'm straight and nothing but IRL, so I'm a little in the dark about what this is actually like...
