Not really. The worth doesn't change because they keep destroying them to use as spell components rather than buying and selling them keeping the relative rarity and value of diamonds roughly the same. There was a small amount of inflation at first, but they've got it pretty steady now.

He would at least consider how Tybs would feel about it, knowing that he is interested in him in that way.
And I don't know of anyone in the school right now that would be a better fit for Dave.

and although dave is Bi, Kryzbyn brings up a good point, one of the possible paths available is for Dave to guilt himself into dating Tybs and it ends horribly

After getting rejected, he won't ask again. If he does, it will be a really long time from now.
If Dave comes back it would be because he wants to.
I'm not saying that Tybs' reaction to being rejected won't make him feel guilty at all. Reacting in character is important and looking at what he's like after not getting an answer is pretty bad. He's going to be wrecked pretty bad after actually getting a no.
I just don't want to rule out the chance that he could eventually say yes and it turn out well out of character before we actually react and change in character.

Also, before he left the school Wyrd brought a very large number of rough diamonds to the school. He did crush many of them, but there are likely quite a few left.

What, exactly, makes Tybs the "best fit for David" right now?
Sure, they get along really well, and sure, they are both cold(elementally), and enjoy being around one another, but beyond that, they seem very, very different.
Now, one can always quote "opposites attract", which in many ways is very true. However, without getting into personal specifics, I can also tell you that such attraction does not always equal a long, lasting relationship aka, breakup/divorce even after years of being together.
Also, as I pointed out before, Tybalt seems more obsessed with David than anything else, which is definitely not a good basis for a normal relationship. He's reaction to David teleporting away, but not saying anything really was almost utter despondence.
Is Tybalt going to break down every time David does something that isn't inline with Tyb's perfect, worship worthy image of Dave?

about your power used in gameplay however, I see no implication it senses past teleportation effects and it is a 1st lvl power so it is understandably limited

It's not "opposites attract" they aren't really opposites, or that they are similar either. Neither of those make a good relationship.
It's more that they are similar in some areas and alike in others.
Tybs does like Dave more than Dave likes him. I'll admit that.
Dave has a dominant personality and likes to be in charge.
Tybalt is attracted to the dominant type and fills that part well. He supports what Dave wants to do and generally let's him be his Alpha.
He gets very attached to people and so does Dave. He thought that the alpha omega relation they had was the same that a mating pair should have.
This isn't his reaction any time that Dave doesn't agree with him. Most of the time he differs to the Alpha. This was different. More complicated than just a disagreement.
Tybs also isn't totally passive. He does have things he wants to do and isn't going to obsessively go along with anything Dave would want to do in a relationship. Dave also isn't totally and completely manipulative. I don't think he would be happy with an extension of his own will as the second part of a relationship.
It's not even that they are totally perfect for each other. No one is. I just think that he works better with Dave than any of the other available PCs. (Which is somewhat few.)

Uh, True Sight, etc? Lots of ways to sense polymorphed beings not in their true form. Plus you are RPing a teacher, in a game where the focus, I thought, was primarily the student characters, so... What does it matter when facing another 'teacher' character?
