Manny sees that it appears to be a perfectly ordinary wooden mannequin.

Female Eladrin Wizard 9

"None taken." Shae replies to Manny with a chuckle, then floats over to the Maul. "This sounds interesting." she says. Hopping off her disc, she kneels next to the the maul, reaches out to touch it, and tries to divine if any magical power rests within.

Trying to identify if it's magical. If Arcana is needed: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (3) + 17 = 20

Manny squints at the wooden mannequin.

"Kind of a fancy suit for a tree stump, isn't it?" He muses, scratching at his whiskers.

Arcana check on the suit: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

"This is a product of vileness."

Manny feels the same sense of unease that Akahale felt. Study of the armour reveals the following to them both:

Deathcut Leather Armor
Level 10 Uncommon
Crafted from the hides of creatures slain by necromantic magic, this armor radiates unease and offers protection against similar magic.
Price: 5,000 gp
Armor: Leather, Hide
Enhancement: +2 AC
Property: Resist 5 necrotic.
Property: Resist 5 poison.
Power (Daily • Necrotic): Immediate Reaction. You can use this power when an enemy hits you with a melee attack. Deal 1d10 + Charisma modifier necrotic damage to that enemy.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

"Unquestionably constructed for a vile purpose, but nonetheless imbued with potent magic."

Who can wear it and fancies some +2 anti-necro, anti-poison leather?

Shaeryyn reaches out and touches the weapon...

Dreamstone Weapon
Level 12+
This hammer has a brutal head made of black stone veined with dimly glowing light. As you heft it you hear susurrus that you find disturbing despite being unable to discern any meaning.
Weapon: Hammer
Enhancement: +3 Attack rolls and damage rolls
Critical: +1d6 radiant damage per plus
Power (Daily): Free Action. Use this power when you attack with the weapon. Attack Will instead of the defense the attack normally targets.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Let me rephrase. Who apart from Akahale can wear it? He already has +2 leather ideally enchanted to help him terrify and curse, but we can always take it and either sell it or transfer the enchantment to someone else.

Male Eladrin Paladin 10

I don't have a desire to wear leather... though transferring the enchant to some nice plate down the road would be appealing, but as is - I pass. I'm also not that interested in the hammer...

Unfortunately, Deathcut enchantment can only be used on Leather and Hide.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

I maybe interested in the hammer. I am not sure about proficiency with a hammer, My axe is a +2 proficiency and a +2 to hit. Let wait to hear from Otto on the Hammer.

"Well, Idon't want it!" Manny says, pointing at the leather armor.

"It gives me the creeps. And Leather chafes me something awful."

"You can take it. That thing gives me the creeps anyway..."

Just to be clear, the hammer is a Maul:
(Military two-handed melee weapon
Cost: 30 gp
Damage: 2d6
Proficient: +2
Weight: 12 lb.
Group:
Hammer

Male Eladrin Paladin 10

It's a nice damage dealer... but I need the extra hand for my shield. So, again I'll pass on the maul. It's too bad about that leather enchantment. Ah well.

Back to the room. We still have some doors to check out (the ones flanking the central statue on the western wall).

After the door INTO this place...
Are they trapped? Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

Seperate perception check for each door, please Hadarai, so you'll need to roll another one.

Male Eladrin Paladin 10

oops, sorry about that.
Okay going "Top to Bottom" then. The first roll would be for the northern door.
And looking over the southern door:
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Akahale thoughfully stows the leather armour for future consideration. He is disinclined to strip in the presence of his comrades. Manny's sensibilities are always a consideration.

You can't stow leather armour - it's bulky heavy stuff... unless you haev a bag of holding. It's going to be way too bulky to put in a backpack or even to carry with it.

Hadarai examines both doors but neither seems to be trapped. They are both, however, locked.

For some reason I thought we had one, but if not, he'll leave the armour where it is for now to be collected on the way back.

Perhaps another party member can enlighten us.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Meanwhile, Akahale looks carefully to see if he has missed anything. The conflicting arcane auras distress him immensely.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 - Perception. Looking at the mannequin.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 - Perception. Moving across to check the maul stand.

Akahale sees nothing more than has already been seen.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

With those rolls it's a miracle if he can see much more than his own feet.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

can I stow the Maul? I may consider it.

Perception trap on the Maul - 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

Grafire picks up the maul and slings it ion his back with the aid of a strap on the handle.

Grafire

Spoiler:
As you pick up the hammer, you hear continual whispered speech, of which you understand nothing. Ph'ngluiaemglw'naphwah'naghjCaiphonfhtagnaphk'yarnakkadishtunilgh'ri

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

"What were you all saying?? I thought I heard something. Hmm, must be from the Maul."

Grafire turns to his egg brother, "Akahale I must let you know about this. If these voices do not stop I may be in danger. But I feel there maybe a greater use of this weapon and it may come at a time against its creator. Its just a hunch though."

What now, friends?

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

"Rest assured, egg brother. Should you fall to abomination, I will excise it with a firm hand."

Akahale moves to the door to the right of the central statue.

"Let us proceed."

Akahale finds that the door is locked.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 - thievery.

Akahale tinkers fruitlessly.

"Hm. Looks like THIS calls for another application of "Mandrake's Magnificent Multi-Use Knock Spell'. The elderly mage says with a gleeful chortle, rolling up his sleeves. He lowers his staff and orb at the doorway that dares to impede their progress, obviously planning on unleashing another volley of mystic bolts into it,...

Unless someone stops him? :)

Half-Elf Ardent 9

"We're not blasting this door down too. Out of the damn question." Otto once again attempts to pick the lock.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

Under his bushy beard, it's hard to tell if Manny is irritated, or amused by the sudden appearance of Otto's back in his firing zone,...

But he lowers his weapons of mass destruction with only a muffled grumble.

Otto needs an Aid Another to succeed (DC 14) - friendly local DM tip.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 - Thievery, aid another

Unable to open the lock by himself, Akahale's earlier experience is at least useful to Otto.

"Ah, Mr Samir. I do believe there is a small insert to the left that you have missed."

DC 24 Lock.

And with that, the door is unlocked.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

"Now let us proceed."

Akahale opens the door and peers through.

The room contains three large stone chests decorated with images of eyes and tentacles. Nothing else can be seen.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Pointing triumphantly at the tentacle flavoured chests, Akahale scans the room for threats before advancing any further.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 - Perception. He's looking at the room rather than the chests in particular,

The dragonborn espies nought but the chests.

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

Grafire is on guard near the door.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

Determined to end the threat of tentacles wherever they may be, Akahale attempts to prod open the lid of the nearest chest with his rod.

Prodding open the chest, Akahale finds it to contain heaps of coins and gems. There is potentially a great deal of wealth here.

male Dragonborn Warlock 10 (Dark pact)

"These are the wages of abomination!" Akahale's eyes whirl and he backs away - possibly for fear of contamination.

LOL! I luv that one Akahale!

"What IS that lizard blabbering about this time?" Manny grumbles, edging his way in for a better look.

"And people say that I'M easily distract,... Oooo, shiny,..."

M Dragonborn Warlord / LVL 8

"I agree, my egg brother. A nice full chest of loot....hmmm kinda suspecious. Better check for traps. Although look at this place. Rather lavish for the likes of a demon."

Male Eladrin Paladin 10

Hearing that we may need someone to spot for traps, Hadarai will come in and investigate the chests for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

"Someone may want to check for any arcane trickery here, too. Beyond that, Shay may have to make some room on her floating disk, if we're going to reclaim some of this wealth." And by reclaim, I mean buy daddy a new suit of plate mail!

Hadarai finds no traps on any of the chests.
