What is our final loot share? Port Peril seems like a pretty good place to go shopping before we head off.

I have two on me, one of which I'm giving to Kung right now. I'm mostly interested in replacing that one.

We might want an extra neutralize poison, though that's pricier (375 gp, or 377 as a potion sponge).

Are you sure you want to do that?

I've realized the losing Ghilda, who was doing the loot sheet has screwed up the division of what you've got so far. Up to the last fight in book two it was all split and sorted.

What you got killing the Sahaugin.
Plunder 10 - 4 used to bribe Kerdak Bonefist. - 1 Used for the crews share - 5 points of plunder left when you arrive in Port peril.
Besmaras bones - Ships figurehead - Used on the Unbound drake.
Feather tokens (Fans) 2 - Ditto.
Slippers of spider climbing - Markizio?
Wand of Web (32 charges) - Jane.
Helm of Underwater action - ?
Wand of produce flame - ?
Ring of animal friendship - ?
Zul + 1 Human bane Trident - Marnir.

Gold and gems
Ended up being 4048.25 gp each when added up and split.

So Marnir, Markizio, Kung & Jane add 4048.25 to your gold.

Please let me know which items are being used by one of you, and which are going to be sold?

I'll do another totaling shortly for the battle on the way to Port peril.

Are you sure you want to do that?

The battle with the Bloody ruin
Plunder - 2
Selling the Bloody ruin 5000gp.
Adamantine battleaxe + 1 - Marnir.
Ring of protection + 2 - ?
Belt of Giant strength + 2 - ?
Armored coat + 2 (+ 5 diplomacy)
Club + 1 (Bone, impervious) - ?
Dagger + 1 (Bone, impervious) - ?
Gloves of swimming and climbing - ?
Boots of striding and Springing - ?

So that brings it up to 7 points of plunder to spend or use.

5000gp split 5 ways so another 1000gp each.

Just the magic items to sort out or sell.

Marnir, Markizio, Kung, Jane now have 5048.25 total. Niobe has 1000, but still some coin to come from selling the unwanted magic items.

male

We had already discussed loot distribution. Markizio wanted the ring of prot +2 and offered the ring of prot +1 (Kung?).

Other than that, nothing really interests Markizio.

I'll add the 5,048 gp and ring of prot +2 to his sheet.

From those two lists, Kung has the Belt of Giant Strength. He is interested in the Helm of Underwater Action, Boots of Striding and Springing, and Gloves of Swimming and Climbing, if those aren't claimed yet. He's happy to take a leftover Ring of Protection +1, too.

I'm happy with that as it stands.

I'll sell my +1 battleaxe, which nets me an additional 1155, which takes me to 6203.25, plus anything else from the sale of the unclaimed items.

We should keep the plunder we have, in case we fall on hard times.

Which will leave my remaining gold at

___________
499gp 9sp 9cp.... (does anyone have a copper I could borrow...)

As for loot. Jane has her spell that gives her swimming and climbing, so she needs no silly gloves.

one of the two feather fall tokens would be good, just encase she fails one of her climbing checks. As for the Produce flame wand... I don't think we need it...

Are you sure you want to do that?

One question for Kung. I thought you already had a Belt of giant strength +2?

So if someone else wants that belt everybody gets another 3790gp.

If it goes on sail then everyone gets another 4190gp.

This is the GP from selling the unwanted items.

I thought we could do with a reserve in case we need to pay for ship repairs or bribes or something. Or to pay the crew if we don't manage to score much booty in the near future.

I don't think we have to worry about paying the crew. My understanding is that we pay them 1 unit of plunder each time that we sell plunder. So, if we don't come home with plunder for some reason, they don't get paid either--and that's okay. Pirates understand that sometimes the piracy doesn't go well and nobody gets paid. (Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that's how it works.)

(We're pirates, not LLCs; we don't have employment contracts and 401(k)s. Didn't get paid? Should have fought harder to help us capture that plump ship!)

Are you sure you want to do that?

If you aren't making any improvements it's best to sell off the plunder, it's taking up cargo space in your hold, so you have less room to take in more.

The next post will be with The Unbound Drake sailing again, so spend or save guys. Time for some carnage again.

I can't remember how much a point of plunder is worth.

We could increase our cargo capacity, or get some more smuggling compartments.

While we're shopping, I'd like to spend a few days (and 6000gp) getting the furious property added to my new axe and then 2500gp on a set of eyes of the eagle. Are those things OK GM?

We don't own it so much as occupy it by agreement with the lady who does own it. We probably could store some plunder there, it's relatively hard to assault and there are a few guards.

Male CN Half-Orc Barbarian 12, Rogue 2 | HP: 35+149/150 (20 nl) | AC: 28 (17 Tch, 23 Fl) | DR 2/- | CMD: 37 (32 Fl) | F: +18, R: +18, W: +10 | Init: +5 | Perc: +17, SM +4 | Speed 40ft | Active conditions: see Stats spoiler in posts (other than hp, stats shown here are default stats only)

I'm still of the opinion that storing plunder has little value. 1 unit of plunder is a game mechanic that represents roughly 1000 gp worth of goods. If we want to keep a cash reserve on hand for repairs or other emergencies, that's a good idea, but let's keep it in coin/gems rather than plunder. It's easier to both store and spend.

Are you sure you want to do that?

@Marnir. Port Peril is a metropolis, so no problems with your purchases.

Kung is correct, 1 point of plunder is a 1000gp for game purposes. Easy enough to convert it to a chest of gems for space in the hold while keeping a reserve.

@GM, can you give us a refresher on ship-to-ship combat? Most of what we've done so far has been boarding actions, without too much focus on the seige weapons.

How are we stocked for ammunition right now? Some of the ship-funds from the sale of plunder should go to maxing out our ammo supply.

Yes, that would be good, especially now that we don't want to board.

I also need to learn fireball or some other distance blaster spell. :(

Are you sure you want to do that?

Yeah no. Ship to ship combat can take an hour or two around the table. PBP it would take weeks at best.

If you want to burn the Sea Jackal before it reaches you that's fine. Otherwise it's a boarding battle.

For a random encounter Paizo certainly didn't go out of their way for this one, no ship stats, and the enemy straight from the Gamemastery guide.

So between Marnir's Profession Sailor, and Red Mary's gunnery you can either dance around the Jackal and sink her, or hammer her then board?

I've read the ship combat rules, and heard reports of people that tried to use them - they regretted their decision.

I'm happy to maneouvre round them and let our spell casters and heavy weapons sink them. Don't want to get involved in a boarding action with deranged Lamashtu worshippers.

Are you sure you want to do that?

Probably for the best, as I said there's little or nothing provided for them. So aside from selling the ship the loot is pitiful.

Kind of an awkward setup to start things in this book, go to either of the temples and then have to go to the other.

But don't worry, this is the last of the fluffing around, from here on it's a lot more action.

Pretty much. The info dumps and conversations are easy around a table. In a PBP, especially with a player not able to post, they can slow the game to a stop.

Since I'm still learning to run PBP's I'm trying to work out which parts need to be sped up and which need full player involvement?
