...
Now I wonder if the Ravens are any different than the Thrune I thought we were trying to overthrow. I promise I will not betray anything.
I just want to leave Kintargo and never come back to this city.
Then you won't have to worry about me stopping your plans. He seems to be telling the truth from your sense motives.
OMG the "chaotic neutral" in me is going schizo. The vengeful Calistrian wants to kill him, yet I also believe him... but just can't be sure... so I want to kill him... but then...
:-O Aaaaaugh!

Lubella Heathertoes |

Lubella's in a very difficult situation here. Killing Morgar without proof of his guilt would be a betrayal of her principles; letting him go, with no way of stopping him from going straight to the dottari again, this time with more explicit information, would also be a betrayal of her principles. That's why she's trying to come up with another option.

Aldren Halfblood |

I imagined as much. It's partly why I had Aldren offer to "solve" the problem with everyone occupied elsewhere, but am not surprised Lubella didn't take him up on the offer.
Maybe a lot of diplomacy and good food, nice treatment, etc., while we have him wait just a day or two.
But I do fear we're going to risk "radicalizing" him against us if we detain him. If he wasn't already against us, he might be by the time he is released unless we handle it with kid gloves. Which, again, is IC why Aldren is just in favor of killing him, but I totally get why all you goody two-shoes, Dudley Do-Rights want to protect his right to due process and whatnot. ;-)

GM Aarvid |

Yes, when you have one CN encounter another CN, it is interesting to see how it goes.
At least this way I don't have to calculate the impact to the team(s) if you "disappeared" him. :-)

Lubella Heathertoes |

Given that there's only one way out of the Wasp's Nest (other than the sewers), we don't necessarily need to lock Morgar up (he would be pretty obvious if he tried to leave through the trap door from the basement). We can assign him to tidy up the warehouse, clean the floors, etc.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Does anyone have read magic memorized? We've still got the scrolls from the Silver Star to ID.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Lubella isn't even bothering with normal crossbow bolts: cold iron bolts are only 2 GP for 10, and she won't be shooting them very often.

Aldren Halfblood |

In that case, if we can find a merchant who sells them, I think then I'm going to buy some cold iron bolts and silvered bolts as well. Not being able to get through that bleeper's DR was harsh, and silvered ammo isn't that expensive, either.
And sorry, I don't have read magic memorized for today. I'm terribly short on skill points per level and have basically decided spellcraft and knowing about "magic" isn't going to be Aldren's thing.
I'd be surprised if Rexus didn't, though.
And, if push comes to shove, I can memorize it for the following day.

Lubella Heathertoes |

The War Cage sells cold iron bolts and silvered bolts.
Lubella is going to learn Read Magic when she levels up to 3rd.

Lubella Heathertoes |

When do we want to go after the Red Jills? I'm thinking that a night-time assault isn't the best idea, given that our opponents can see in the dark, and most of us can't.
It would be nice to know when Scarplume normally sleeps, but I don't think we have any idea.
Would it make sense to wait until morning?

Aldren Halfblood |

I’d be fine with morning. I’ll get my last Dex point back and the spell I blew on Morgar the Mundane.

Aldren Halfblood |

Bleagh. Just realized the "+2 gold for alchemical silver ammunition" was per piece of ammo. Oh well. Still bought some and adjusted my wealth in the Loot sheet. Wound up spending 44 gold between the ammo and Aldren's share towards the ioun torch.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Lubella will buy one alchemical silver crossbow bolt, and contribute 18.75 gp towards the ioun torch.
If carrying rope presents a problem with carrying capacity, we could all chip in towards silk rope (Costs 10 gp, but only weighs 5 lbs instead of 10 for hemp rope).
Who wants to carry the ioun torch (it could be carried in a pocket, and brought out as necessary)?

GM Aarvid |

Hey, I am going on a retreat this weekend and may not get to post from Friday night until Sunday afternoon. Then I fly out for business on Monday.
To give you something constructive to do, go ahead and level up to 3rd level this weekend. Congratulations! We will start the finale next week.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Does that mean that we will apply the level up after the fight with Scarplume, or before?

Lubella Heathertoes |

I forgot to mention that Lubella now has the Inspire Competence performance.

GM Aarvid |

Arcos ready?
I am going to start queuing up the fight with Jills since it is easier from home than on the road at a hotel.

Talvek Drassed |

I am quite swamped at work and do not have the headspace for anything else at the moment, please bot me as needed.

GM Aarvid |

No worries. I am posting from my phone at the hotel. So probably more discussion than intense combat at least the next couple days.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Lubella's plan is to get just close enough to the church/orphanage to see where the entrances are, and determine the best direction to approach from.

Aldren Halfblood |

FYI, we're going on a small trip for a long weekend and my access will likely be limited to just my phone. So, my updates will likely be (mercifully?) brief, but I will aim to post at least once a day. :-)

Lubella Heathertoes |

Lubella could potentially help other PCs with their disguises. The disguise skill description isn't clear about how this would be handled.

Lubella Heathertoes |

No doubt Lubella could sneak up without being seen from the gang headquarters; her concern is about being noticed sneaking by passersby or people in other buildings.

GM Aarvid |

Sorry - had late night last night with work trip
Will see if I can get a post up tonight or before my flight home tomorrow

Lubella Heathertoes |

@GM Aarvid: I don't think you posted the scrolls before. No-one had read magic prepared/available before now.
Are the walls of the church all intact, or are there gaps?
EDIT: Also, how much pedestrian traffic is there in the area?

Lubella Heathertoes |

@GM Aarvid: Just so I understand, does it look like there's a possibility that the doors might be locked from the inside right now? Or, does it look like an invisible person could easily gain entrance without attracting notice?

Lubella Heathertoes |

Aldren is the only one who can use the scroll of remove blindness/deafness, and a scroll of remove disease. Either Aldren or Lubella could use the scroll of cure moderate wounds, and either Aldren, Arcos or Lubella could use the scroll of Daylight.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Lubella would like to avoid having a running battle on the street; I would think that would draw more attention from the authorities than having a fight inside the buildings.
On possibility would be to have Aldren turn invisible and move up, while everyone else sneaks up as close as we can without moving into the open. Then when Aldren opens the door to the church, we could run inside and attack the leader (assuming she's in there right now).
It's possible there could be a trap on the door; we could alternately send Talvek up first, but that would leave Aldren to run in from further away.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Lubella will have Message up and running so we can coordinate actions (she will need to be within 130 ft of everyone). Here's my updated proposal:
1. Aldren Casts Invisibility on himself.
2. Talvek starts his diversion.
2. Aldren moves up to the door and opens it. If the guards are sufficiently distracted, Lubella and Arcos, sneak across as at the same time, otherwise they wait until the door is already open.
3. Talvek abandons his bluff and hurries to the door and inside.
Hopefully, the lookouts will have a hard time hearing Aldren: the DC to hear a person walking is 10, +5 for distraction, and +1 for every 10 ft distance.
Edit: We need to sort out who has what equipment. How about Aldren carries the continual light stone in his pocket? Did he end up getting rope (let me know if we need to put money towards silk rope)?
Who's carrying the scroll of Daylight? This person should to be close to the continual light stone. Lubella might not be the best choice, since she might zip ahead to engage an enemy.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Just to reiterate, we're looking to get into the ground floor of the church. Then, hopefully, up the ladder to Scarplume.

GM Aarvid |

Oddly, there was not a door on the map for the church. So I added one (a pair) to the north side closest the party.
Also, the ladder on the map actually spans between the roof of the orphanage and the church (10' up to 20' above). It is not accessible from the ground floor. There may be stairs or such inside either building, but you cannot see those from outside.

Lubella Heathertoes |

I've made some preliminary PC placements (subject to adjustments by the players in question, naturally). Aldren, Arcos and Lubella are meant to be as close to the church as they can get, without being seen (I'm presuming there might be a street or alley in that direction).
Talvek is meant to be approaching towards what appears to be the front entrance, where he can ask about joining the Red Jills.
Please correct me if my assumptions are off.

Aldren Halfblood |

Sorry for the delay on my post. Was traveling over the weekend and am now caught covering payroll as the usual person is out of the office.

This all works for me. I did get rope; just forgot to update my sheet. I'm flexible on the Daylight spell; I've got other things I can be casting if we think we need it for this.
My one question/concern is: what do we do if the doors are locked?

Lubella Heathertoes |

I'm hoping that the doors are flimsy enough Aldren could force one open; either that or create enough of a gap that people can slip inside. They look like they're in bad shape.

Lubella Heathertoes |

@GM Arvid: FYI, I think the Initiative modifier for Talvek in your cut and paste section is incorrect ; it should be +3. I don't think it made any difference in this case.

GM Aarvid |

Thanks - probably due to level up or something. I tried to edit it just now (thrice) but get the dreaded Paizo Golem Error. I will try to update tomorrow.

Lubella Heathertoes |

@Arcos: have you leveled up to 3 yet? Your alias still has your level 2 stats.
@GM Aarvid: I'll need some description of what Lubella sees at the top of the ladder, before I decide on her next action. She's going to have to make a split-second decision about what to do, with potentially life or death consequences. I'm presuming that she may now be 5 ft below a trap door, but I'm purely guessing.

GM Aarvid |

You are guessing correctly on the trap door - currently closed. So no visibility to the roof yet.

Lubella Heathertoes |

It seems that Lubella was rather unlucky in her choice of a hiding spot! She has no was of knowing that she's on the very edge of the darkness.
