I don't mind at all. If we were at a F2F table, of course I'd want to roll for myself, but in PbP I'm a big believer in efficiency.

Lubella Heathertoes |

The question will be if the charisma damage can be repaired, if I can't get the teeth back, or if the loss is permanent (since the damage seems to be related to the tooth loss). You can't rest and regrow teeth overnight! :(

Aldren Halfblood |

Between the demonic tooth fairies, a toothless halfling, and our collective inability to hit a darned thing, I think we're in good running for a Pathfinder Comedic Mis-Adventure.

GM Aarvid |

FYI - I will be driving today and tomorrow, so will have limited posts. My mother is in the hospital in Florida and they are moving her to another facility over the weekend. I should be online Saturday but maybe not again until after Easter.

Lubella Heathertoes |

I hope you mother gets better soon.
My mother came home from the hospital a week ago, after a stay of 8 weeks.

Aldren Halfblood |

Aarvid, sounds like your mom has been having a lot of health issues. I'm sorry to hear it. I hope there is a positive prognosis on the horizon. My father had an extended period of illness and it was rough. All of which is to say, completely understand and am wishing you, your mom and all the very best. Safe travels.

GM Aarvid |

Much appreciated. Thanks.
I am planning on being there 2+ weeks until she is released and back home safe.
I am fortunate my work is flexible and I can work remotely.
Leaving my wife and 3 kids to fend for themselves that long is not easy though.

Aldren Halfblood |

LOL. My husband left town for five days take help his mother recover from hip surgery, leaving me with one toddler, and I could not wait for him to get back. You're good to recognize it. But that's what families are for, too.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Out of town family health emergencies are always difficult to deal with. I ultimately moved back from Toronto to Vancouver seven years ago, partly for that reason (my parents are quite elderly).

Lubella Heathertoes |

Lubella favors consulting the local Tiefling community before moving the remains. Hopefully we can find the (presumably) murdered child's next of kin.
She doesn't have her bedroll with her (carrying capacity problems), so camping out isn't her favorite option. However, she recognizes that others aren't as stealthy as she is, so going back to the Owl Bakery might not work out so well. Talvek might be able to come up with another option, depending on where his contacts live.
She's uneasy about taking the 250 GP gold tooth as treasure, given that it's part of a murder victim's remains.

Aldren Halfblood |

My only OOC concern about it only being the fey is the presence of Aklo script. I don't think fey generally speak Aklo. but, Aldren would have no clue IC. He also doesn't know about the tooth, so. But I completely understand why Lubella wants to leave it.
(He'd totally take it.)

Lubella Heathertoes |

Lubella is going to want to return to the Long Roads Coffeehouse, to update Laria and Rexus. After that, she will probably work on locating a buyer for the textiles (she would really like to do some shopping). She might also check out the War Cage (Y1), to determine the availability of a small mithril scimitar. At some later date, she will want to visit Olmer’s Smithy (O9), to inquire about a small mithril chain shirt.
@GM Aarvid: Did we get enough rest to recover spells?

Lubella Heathertoes |

@GM Aarvid: How bulky are the textiles in the warehouse? I'm trying to get an idea of how much there is to carry, when it's time to take them to a buyer.

GM Aarvid |

I seem to recall pretty bulky and heavy- like might need a cart. I will check when I get home. Certainly more than you can carry without a haversack or something
.
You can have someone try kn:local for you or even ask Rexus. You may recall a few shop names too from yesterday

Aldren Halfblood |

One of the downsides of clerics is the really poor # of skill points. I'm investing in knowledge skills as I can but don't have local yet. That said, if you need to know the way around a brothel, I'm your man.

Aldren Halfblood |

Aarvid, do you need anything mechanics-wise from us on the would-be rebels in the Wasp's Nest, or at the moment is it a purely RP thing/

GM Aarvid |

Mechanics-wise would depend on what you plan to do in or with the Wasp Nest.
Aldren resolved to keep a close eye on folks to see if there were any potential turncoats or Thrune informants.
What specifically? There are 6 members of your first team. Sense motive or casting spells? Following them etc?
Hmm. And maybe I'll ask if anyone knows anything of masonry to seal up that hole in the wall and drain the shrine.
You can hire a masonry trades-person. Possibly one of your 6 members is, but unlikely.
If you are clearing stuff out, moving items, clearing the shrine, consecrating the area, etc, you can roll play that. Generally no rolls needed.

Aldren Halfblood |

For now, just sense motive. Happy to let you handle that behind the screen if it's ever appropriate. If something seemed odd, then maybe follow-up with spells. Aldren is as stealthy as an iron golem, so he wouldn't be following them.

Julessa Emberlain |

I'm really sorry, guys - I've had a bunch of stuff pick up on me lately, and I don't think I have the mental capacity to keep up with this game. It's really a wrench; I was excited about it, but it's unfortunately not going to work out. I hope the rest of you have great success, though! Aarvid, would you like me to write myself out or will you handle it?

Aldren Halfblood |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Oh no! :-( I was worried when I hadn't seen your posts for a while. I was having quite a lot of fun playing Aldren off of Julessa's earnestness. But life happens. Good luck with everything.

GM Aarvid |

Yep, take care of yourself first, Julessa :)
This is just a side distraction. You will definitely be missed. Since you are swamped I will write you out. If you think you could come back in the future I can hold the spot. I won't plan any recruiting yet. If others are also feeling pinched then We can go back to our recruiting pool and see if any are still interested. AP games are definitely more involved- and this one possibly more so. Don't feel pressured to be as verbose as others,if you only can post a sentence or two each day that is fine. :)

Talvek Drassed |

Sorry to hear that you're leaving Julessa, yours was a great character and I enjoyed having you in the game. But games are meant to entertain us, not give us anxiety, so I completely understand.
I'm struggling a little to keep up the pace since a bunch of work stuff has picked up for me as well (ok, I did it to myself by starting a special interest group at work, but it's for a really good cause!). This game seems to kick the trend of PbP games losing steam after a few weeks, which is great!

Lubella Heathertoes |

We'll miss you, Julessa. Lubella really enjoyed the baked goods. :)

Lubella Heathertoes |

My intention is for Lubella's scouting of the Silver Star to be brief. I don't want to slow things down for Aldren.

Aldren Halfblood |

Don't worry about me (but thank you for the consideration). I think I'm just shopping for RP purposes. Going to need to rest to get spells and whatnot, then on the next day we can prioritize Silver Star, Clenchjaws, whathaveyou. I'm very leery about us splitting up the party in the context of anything that could turn into a fight.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Yes, I'm trying to avoid getting into a fight while scouting the Silver Star. I just hope I don't run into an innocent in distress scenario, where Lubella would feel compelled to intervene.

Lubella Heathertoes |

I've been thinking about how to transport the cloth across the bridge. We've got something like 130 lbs to carry, presumably in our backpacks. I'm thinking that Aldren could memorize one or more castings of Ant Haul. If we're not encumbered, hopefully it would be less obvious that we're carrying something interesting.
The next question is what to do if the dottari wanted to search us. The best I've come up with, is for Lubella to disguise herself as a clearly different halfling; as we're approaching the checkpoint, she could surreptitiously cast Expeditious Retreat. If it looks like we're going to be stopped (Sense Motive, perhaps), she could make a run for it, hopefully distracting the guards so everyone else could pass through.
Hopefully all this won't be necessary, but I like to think of what could go wrong. I'm certainly open to suggestions.

Aldren Halfblood |

Might be a dead end but something I think we should do regardless...check the sewers. Isn't that how the textiles arrived here? Might also be good for us to find another way in and out of the Wasps Nest and reduce the visibility of Longroads
But I can definItaly memorize an ant haul. Maybe also charm a lone dottari and have him escort us across? Blow through a lot of my spells for the day, but maybe worth it?

Talvek Drassed |

Or we should invest in an alternate method of crossing the river, like a boat?

Lubella Heathertoes |

@GM Aarvid: Are we aware of any official restrictions on boat traffic?

GM Aarvid |

There would be the normal tariffs if you tried to dock on the other side (as if you were from another city). However, there is one item about shipping you may have forgotten....
Proclamation the Eighth
All nonnative ships’ captains must remain on board
their ships and are barred from setting foot on land
within Kintargo’s city limits—their crew and agents are
free to come and go, but their actions are directly the
responsibility of their captains, and any crew caught
breaking Kintargan law shall have its punishment visited
upon the crew members as well as their captain. Any
captain caught setting foot in Kintargo is to be punished
by squassation.
It may limit some of your choices but there are possible designs which would fit within the law.

Lubella Heathertoes |

Do there seem to be some smaller craft that can come and go freely (eg. rowboats, canoes), or are those being inspected? I realize that Lubella might not understand the fine points of the regulations.

Lubella Heathertoes |

GM Aarvid: I'm confused about whether the Eighth Proclamation applies to small boats or not. Do we have any idea about the likelihood of a small boat being stopped and searched?

Aldren Halfblood |

Switching a bit back to here as it may just be more efficient.
Why are we worried about an inspection? Are the textiles illegal somehow? Even if embroidered, we're not wearing them. I'm a little confused about the need for skullduggery here. Sorry if I'm being dense.

Lubella Heathertoes |

The previous GM hinted (see knowledge local spoiler) that there might be difficulty selling the varisian garments. I'm worried that the dottari might detain on suspicion of somehow breaking the Forth Proclamation. Hetty also warned us to be careful on the bridge.

Aldren Halfblood |

Aaaaaah. Got it. Thanks.
Then how about this... We rent or buy a boat, take it across without the textiles, see how things go. If there's no problem and we're able to find a place to land on the other side, we do it again with the textiles. First time is nice and legal, no risk. Second time, if we're stopped, we can resort to bluffs and diplomacy. (Eg., "Why, yes, officer, they are rather fine textiles. Beautiful, even. And while they're not specifically embroidered, I can see why they have caught your discerning eye. We are taking them to a tailor who will craft them into fine clothes for servitors of House Thrune. All hail Asmodeus (ye slimy bootlicker).")
And I can just lie and say I'm the captain. Bastard I may be, but I'm native born.

GM Aarvid |

the proclamation is deliberately vague as to what size of boat and who qualifies as a captain. Lubella is not native born, but the others are.
The textiles would be a problem for normal buyers, but apparently Hetamon, with his reputation as a tailor, knows the law and figures he can still move the merchandise, or he does not appeared to be worried about the consequences.

Lubella Heathertoes |

I'm thinking two people (Lubella + one more) on the boat and two (+ hired laborers) bringing the textiles to the loading point (Aldren + one more).

Talvek Drassed |

Off on holiday to Meowrocco from April 20th to May 6th. Posting will be slow, please bot as needed.

GM Aarvid |

My mom back in hospital so I am probably going to be a bit light on posting for the next few days.

Lubella Heathertoes |

I hope your mother gets better soon. Family health issues are always difficult; take care of yourself.
