I don't think we are worries about the Dottari more the Hell knights. You can charge on the Angle as well but you don't get the full 60' as it gets used up a lot faster because of the ruling.

Correct me if I missed the new hp totals. I think the reposte is moot since the parry was a nat-1, correct?

The parry result has to be higher than the attack roll to be successful; the riposte only happens on a successful parry. So no riposte in this case.

I think Fhingle took 15 damage from Life Links by the end of the dottari's turn (2 rounds for Talvek and one round for Lubella), so he's at -24.

HP 43 l AC 19 (T 13, FF17) l 3/3/5 (+2 vs Fear) l Init +2 l Perc +8 *Cover Name - Ba*

I am yes from what you said and I went to confirm. I have to get away to drink a potion to heal up so I can not die :)

AKA "Kyda" Halfling Dawnflower Dervish 4 | HP: 25/39 AC:19 T:15 F:15 | Saves F:6 R:10 W:5 | Init: 6 | Per: 8 | CMB:1 CMD:15 | Speed 60ft | Active: Expeditious Retreat

Lubella will try to cast her readied spell defensively. Her concentration check will be at +7 (lvl+cha bonus), with a target of 17 (15 + 2 x spell level).

Next level, her concentration checks will get substantially better: at 5th lvl, her Spinning Spellcaster class feature will add +4 to concentration checks to cast defensively.

GM Aarvid:
Does the fact that Lubella knows the smoke is an illusion affect the miss chance?

Magnimar Lodge

Lubella:

I would say that she knows it was an illusion spell, but she would still have to save against it in order to ignore it (she would get the usual +4 bonus knowing that it was cast as an illusion).
So basically if she makes her save, she can ignore the figment outline that remains...and would hit. Otherwise, it is a 20% miss.

AKA "Kyda" Halfling Dawnflower Dervish 4 | HP: 25/39 AC:19 T:15 F:15 | Saves F:6 R:10 W:5 | Init: 6 | Per: 8 | CMB:1 CMD:15 | Speed 60ft | Active: Expeditious Retreat

We should all be withdrawing now. Hopefully Sidius' summons will delay the dottari for a round. We want to get to straight roads, where Fhingle can run 4x speed (60 ft) — that way the dottari won't be able to close the gap by double moving. Lubella has one Grease spell left to slow them down.

For reference, the doghousing platform is at J5 on the city map. We want to avoid the Kintargo Opera House (J3) — that's Barzillai Thrune's residence, so there will be more guards there.

FWIW, I suppose someone could carry Fhingle piggyback, and run at 3x speed with a heavy load (60ft). That way Fhingle could channel while we retreat.

HP 43 l AC 19 (T 13, FF17) l 3/3/5 (+2 vs Fear) l Init +2 l Perc +8 *Cover Name - Ba*

Haha that is true and would be rather funny. I should get a pony and name it Ride a Channel

AKA "Kyda" Halfling Dawnflower Dervish 4 | HP: 25/39 AC:19 T:15 F:15 | Saves F:6 R:10 W:5 | Init: 6 | Per: 8 | CMB:1 CMD:15 | Speed 60ft | Active: Expeditious Retreat

@Fhingle: I think you posted your action without checking the map. There's a dottari standing right next to you at the start of your turn — you need to use the Withdraw action if you want to get away.

Please note that a single crit from one of the dottari will kill any one of us — 3d10+42 by the looks of it (average 58.5 damage). We can't keep letting them attack us!

Magnimar Lodge

These are definitely power-attacking brutes. Talvek is in single digit hp I believe (maybe slightly better after the channel, but not good)

I will take suggestions for Arcos as I played the silent image card last round to stall the pursuit (not super effective but worked for a few)

Not sure what else sounds good, otherwise he can withdraw.

AKA "Kyda" Halfling Dawnflower Dervish 4 | HP: 25/39 AC:19 T:15 F:15 | Saves F:6 R:10 W:5 | Init: 6 | Per: 8 | CMB:1 CMD:15 | Speed 60ft | Active: Expeditious Retreat

The best I can think of for Arcos is to cast Invisibility, and then start using Ghost Sound to confuse the dottari. Hopefully that might slow their pursuit.

HP 43 l AC 19 (T 13, FF17) l 3/3/5 (+2 vs Fear) l Init +2 l Perc +8 *Cover Name - Ba*

It is kinda the way the Hell Knights aren't centred so I thought I would be ok. I can Withdraw sure but then I cannot channel.

AKA "Kyda" Halfling Dawnflower Dervish 4 | HP: 25/39 AC:19 T:15 F:15 | Saves F:6 R:10 W:5 | Init: 6 | Per: 8 | CMB:1 CMD:15 | Speed 60ft | Active: Expeditious Retreat

That's OK. Sidius will be competing his summoning spell, so I'm hoping that will tie the dottari up for a round. Our best bet is to move away as much as we can, so we don't get attacked.

AKA "Kyda" Halfling Dawnflower Dervish 4 | HP: 25/39 AC:19 T:15 F:15 | Saves F:6 R:10 W:5 | Init: 6 | Per: 8 | CMB:1 CMD:15 | Speed 60ft | Active: Expeditious Retreat

Don't forget that celestial eagles can smite evil 1/day (+1 damage against evil foe).

That's true. Wasn't sure if the target was evil or neutral, so I didn't think to ask - but given that a level 1 summon is a glass cannon, it would be logical to go for the smite, even if it doesn't work.

Also, the fact that I've failed 3 different hexes with DC 17 vs. folk with poor will saves is.... annoying, to say the least. At this point, Sidius is going to think they've all got Hex Ward items.

Magnimar Lodge

Yes, the smite would make sense and would allow, but in this case is moot, as the guards are not actually evil.

The uber hex saves with their poor will is definitely more of an anomaly.

Sidius needs to take lessons from Vendalfek. :)

One of the Hellknights saved against Lubella's Grease spell as well, and I doubt they have great Reflex saves.

We should keep an Ant Haul for future escapes.

Magnimar Lodge

Late company tonight. Will post in morning.

HP 43 l AC 19 (T 13, FF17) l 3/3/5 (+2 vs Fear) l Init +2 l Perc +8 *Cover Name - Ba*

Fhingle weighs 62.6 lbs with all his gear on

Magnimar Lodge

Yep, I feared that may be the case. Even if Talvek was carrying nothing else, that would be close to a heavy load for him. So he would be no faster than Fhingle is already moving. I will assume he just moves ahead.

Tiefling Investigator (empiricist) 3/Swashbuckler (inspired blade) 1 | HP 9/40 | AC 20 Tch. 14, Ff. 16 | Fort +7. Ref +12, Will +3 | Resist cold/electricity/fire: 5 | Init +3 | Perception +11; darkvision 60 ft.

Even at medium load, carrying Fhingle would allow him to channel with less risk of falling behind and getting mobbed.

Magnimar Lodge

That is true...so you can still do it. At heavy load unless you increase Talvek's strength.

AKA "Kyda" Halfling Dawnflower Dervish 4 | HP: 25/39 AC:19 T:15 F:15 | Saves F:6 R:10 W:5 | Init: 6 | Per: 8 | CMB:1 CMD:15 | Speed 60ft | Active: Expeditious Retreat

I was almost certain that we were going to lose someone there for a while! We were lucky that none of the dottari rolled a 20 — a confirmed critical would have meant a dead PC. We dodged a bullet this time.

Definitely a warning that not all encounters are beatable! (In combat anyways.)

Magnimar Lodge

Definitely a good lesson that not all of the missions will be solved by direct conflict, as you are vastly out-numbered by superior forces.
