Joanna Whitehall |

Cool! And thanks for playing out those scenes with me. I've enjoyed it and I hope to be able to do the same with Briana soon. :)

Joanna Whitehall |

Rowenna sniffs disdainfully as Halli engages in her usual puppy shenanigans and licks a paw.
Canines...capable when they want to be but no class or dignity at all...
This is probably my favorite post for Rowenna so far.
I've been trying to play Halli as a trickster. She's mischievous, and will do things because she finds them funny. Things have been a bit on the heavy side, so she hasn't really shown that off a lot though I've tried to throw things in when Joanna's been down or looks like she needs a pick up.

Briana Kaddren |
Thanks! Rowenna does care about Briana of course, but she'd generally rather show it in a more one-on-one setting (bedtime/early morning) than in front of everyone. The group hug earlier was a bit of an exception, of course :)
I enjoy the personality contrasts between Halli and Rowenna. Now we just need Teldon to get a cat (when/if he returns), Shadlah her badger, and some sort of fuzzy critter each for Zee and Arsith....and then we'll have succeeded in making poor Zed lose his mind with all the potential bodies on the battlefield :3

Joanna Whitehall |

I vote an awakened Hamster and a daschund for Zee and Arsith respectively. Then we can really make him lose it with not one, but two knights riding canines. :D
Of course, the Hamster will need to insist on being referred to by his full courtly title.
It could be worse, he could be having to deal with a snarky thrush, though I think Haladir, Zee's player, rather enjoys using Fluff to take shots at Gwyn. :P
I also like the contrast between Rowenna and Halli. I'm looking forward to them starting to collaborate. It should be a blast.

Joanna Whitehall |

True, but you can't tell me that it's not fun poking fun at a PC with their own familiar. :)

Joanna Whitehall |

Yes, thank you very much for your patience. One of the best things about this game is the characters and character interactions.

Shadlah Broken-Earth |

I've been at a convention all weekend and the fatigue/con-flu is still kicking my butt on Wednesday. I haven't even checked gameplay, but I assume some shenanigans went down.

Joanna Whitehall |

Sorry to hear about that. Get well soon Ronnie!
On another note, I lost it when I read Rowenna's post. I can just picture it now. :D

Joanna Whitehall |

By the way, is this one of the ones that induce some psychosis if you fail the Will save five times in a row?

Joanna Whitehall |

Oh goody. With the way I've been rolling lately, I better get ready to add a little madness to Jo and Halli. :P

Joanna Whitehall |

So, Briana and I are in another game together that's GM'd by Nate. We heard from him through a friend that knows him in real life and he said he should be back within two weeks. I don't know if it's a full return or just to that game, but I figured I'd let you guys know as well.

Joanna Whitehall |

I did, didn't I.
Oops.
Sorry about that. I am a bit scatterbrained. :P

Joanna Whitehall |

Oh, I failed those a long time ago! Joanna on the other hand...

Ziomarra Callinovo |

I have to say... there are a number of us that are in other games together.
Speaking for myself...
Escharid and I are in Justin Warren's Carrion Crown game.
Zed and Justin (and formerly Lady Ladile) are in my Castle Ravenloft game. [BTW: Celowyn is still alive, if you want to reconsider returning!]
Adam and Ronnie are in my Runelords game.
Nate and I are in Zed's The Blight: Bloody Jack game.
And I'm in one of Zed's Legendary Planet games.

Briana Kaddren |
^Yeah, there's quite a bit of overlap between my remaining games and the folks here :)
Zed, Adam, Shadlah/Ronnie, and I are in Nate's Divine RotRL game...
Nate and I are in Adam's Jade Regent game...
Ronnie and I are in a Kingmaker game together...
Nate and I are in a *different* Kingmaker game together...
Adam and I were in Zed's The Blight: Crucible game together (until I needed to bow out)...
Arsith played in the PFS scenario that I just finished running and we also were briefly in a homebrew zombie apocalypse game together...
And I'm in Zed's *other* Legendary Planet game!
______
I'm torn. On the one hand, it's good to be willing to make space for people you've not played with before or who are new to PF/PbP because hey, maybe you'll make another cool friend! On the other, there's something to be said for finding a loose circle of people whose playstyles you dig and who have similar posting habits, given the nature of PbPs to wither and die more often than not.

Joanna Whitehall |

Funny thing about the Jade Regent game, all of the players are people I've played with before.
Arsith and I are in Zed's Emerald spire together. (Welcome back, by the way. I hope you had fun!)
I've got another few games where there's some overlap. There's a homebrew where a couple of the players are also in a Rise of the Runelords game I'm in. One of the player's from the RotRL game is playing in an Iron Legion game I'm in as well.

Joanna Whitehall |

So, there's a rerecruitment going on for a game I'm in. The characters are great, the GM is good, and the only complaint I have is that it moves a little slowly. If you're looking for another game, check out the thread and see if you can think of something that tickles your fancy.
Recruitment thread
Gameplay thread
We are in dire need of a healer. Just something to keep in mind.

GM Zed |

the zombie game is still my favorite game...
Wow, way to make your GM feel great ;-)
...and yeah, on the topic of the same players appearing in everyone's games, I've kinda got to the point where I tend to start with recruitment by invitation rather than open - case in point, I ran From Shore to Sea via Open Recruitment and, by the end, I was down to two players (from six at the start) actively posting... and one of those was from my other games!!! Having said that, open invitations do allow you to play with new folks who can then turn out to be long term players / friends so I suppose there are swings and roundabouts!!!
My next recruitment will be for the Blight campaign when that is available (probably after my two one-shots in the Blight wrap up) and, almost certainly, that will be by invitation only...

Briana Kaddren |
@Zee - Whoops, missed your note earlier about Celowyn! It's really tempting, but I'd better not. Things will be ramping up at the end of August with PbP Game day VI *plus* I might be working more as we're going to be short-handed at work for at least a couple of months. Thank you though, I do appreciate the invite!
@Zed - Let me know when you decide to start a Blight campaign? I can't guarantee that I'll have the free time to play but I dig the horror stuff and so if I do have time then I'd like to apply for it! Also (and this is relevant to Haladir's game too) I might find it easier to form attachment to a character starting at 1st level as opposed to higher; I suspect that was part of my issue with Castle Ravenloft and The Crucible, in addition to the aforementioned time constraints.

Joanna Whitehall |

You know, I thought I hated pugwampis.
And I do,
But I never realized that you could loathe a monster.
Seugathi, they're pure evil. man. That confusion aura has caused us to do more damage to ourselves than it has done to us. At least it hasn't used the wand on us yet.

GM Zed |

Yeah... the Seugathi is an absolute nightmare!!! Least you are only facing one of them - the Emerald Spire (as Joanna / Arsith's players know) chucks three of them at a party in one go...
Hmmm, Use the wand on you? That's a good idea... I like that... (Very tenuous Reservoir Dogs / Mr Blonde reference... no way I was linking the scene though!!! Surprised you can even find it on Youtube tbh)

Shadlah Broken-Earth |

I'm going to try posting now. Sorry, got caught up in other s!~$, and all my games are suffering. Doesn't help that I have no idea what to do with Shadlah at all.

Briana Kaddren |
Do you mean in combat or in general, Shadlah? I know next to nothing about the mechanical aspects of kineticists but if it's a character issue then maybe bouncing ideas around here in Discussion would be helpful to you. We just recently did a bit of that in Jo's Jade Regent game for my paladin and another player's alchemist and it seems to have helped!

Shadlah Broken-Earth |

In general. I don't know where I want to take her build (just part of kineticists being so modular), how I want to explore her, or even how to fit her into the group.

Joanna Whitehall |

Well, let's try to fix that. I'm going to use the guide here to work through what little I know of Shadlah. I'm going off what I can recall, because I haven't gotten very far past where Shadlah was introduced in my current re-read of the game thread. Apologies if this rambles, I'm doing this really late and honestly should be asleep.
Primary Motivator: This one I think could be argued a few different ways, but I'm going with Discovery/Adventure due to what Shadlah said when she first joined us.
Emotional Disposition: Melancholy
Moodiness: Phlegmatic, I've yet to see Shadlah have a strong display of emotion.
Outlook: I'd say neither, though she's more Optimistic than Pessimistic.
Integrity: Conscientious
Impulsiveness:Controlled
Boldness: Intrepid
Agreeableness: Agreeable
Interactivity: Reserved
Conformity: Orthodox (very down to earth)
So, Shadlah is a very even-keeled person who, while reserved, melancholic, and thoughtful, is very down to earth and approachable once you get past the initial impression. She is decisive and wants to explore.
That's what I've gotten from her, anyway.
As for her build, she's the party's hardest hitter. Briana is a battlefield controller, while Zee is a good buffer and debuffer. Arsith and Joanna are the tanks with Teldon filling out skills and providing support. I think Shadlah has a good niche in being the hammer tor the anvil that is Arsith and Joanna. I would say focus on making it easier for you to hit things and hitting them harder, but I have never looked at the Kineticist class. So just give me a sec.
...
Okay, I'm back. I think that perhaps focusing on talents that modify what you can do with your blast might be the best way to go.
And with that, I am out. I hope this helps.

Joanna Whitehall |

"very down to earth"
You couldn't have said better about Shadlah.^^
That may or may need t have been intentional. :P

Joanna Whitehall |

Grrr. Stupid phone and its touch keyboard.
That was supposed to be "may or may not"
Anyway, that's five in a row for Halli I believe. Poor pup, she's not having a good day.

GM Zed |

Yeah... and we don't have to go with full on rolling for Confusion every six seconds until Halli either kills herself or someone else... we can just RP her state of mind and, in the event of combat, only roll for confusion when she gets hit or suchlike... I think Joanna is going to need to take good care of her from here on in...
Shadlah, on the other hand, is also one failed save away from Insanity... time to break out the Hero Points I think!!!!

Shadlah Broken-Earth |

Thanks, Jo. That really helped me nail everything down. I appreciate it :)
And peeps... speaking of appreciating, I know we're in tight spaces, but when possible, could we try to leave me open firing lanes? As it is, there's no space I can stand in without either a) shooting through allies (granting the enemy +4 to AC from cover), or b) provoking an attack of opportunity when I fire.

GM Zed |

Ooooooh, exciting!!! Apparently the main book for the Blight is going to be sent out this weekend (in PDF format at least)... For sure, it'll take me a good while to digest it all but I would imagine that sometime around the time that my Bloody Jack / Crucible games reach their denouement, I will be looking to run a recruitment for the Blight AP.
Watch this space.

Briana Kaddren |
Hey folks, one of my games recently lost a couple of players so I thought I'd mention it here in case anyone is interested. It's Second Darkness, early Book 3. The game has been on the slow side but I'm hoping with some new faces we can pick up the pace a bit! Let me know if you're interested :)

Joanna Whitehall |

Hmm. I am interested, but I don't know if I'd be spreading myself too much thin. I'm gonna be thinking on this.
