I'm in central New York, and we've only seen about an inch of snow so far, but it is coming down pretty hard as I write this.
We bought our Christmas tree today, and it was nice to do that while it was snowing!

Ziomarra Callinovo |

On an totally unrelated note: I just bought my Paizocon 2017 4-day pass and preview banquet ticket.
This will be my fist Paizocon... and the first gaming convention I will have atteneded in over 25 years!
Is anyone in this group planning to go to Paizocon this year?

Joanna Whitehall |

Same here. I hope you have fun though. :)

GM Zed |

So, as the fun of the Faire draws to a close, I will wrap it up relatively quickly once a couple of you have posted, I thought it was worth highlighting where we currently are with 'jobs' in Magnimar...
- Delivering Captain Brast's brooch to his wife, along with news of his fate ...Done
- See how Shel is holding up ...Done
- Writing a letter to Brother/Uncle Titus asking if there's a way to turn a ghoul back ...Done but awaiting a response
- Writing a letter to the Korzhas and seeing how they are doing ...Done but awaiting a response
- Finding out if the Golden Key has set sail. She could ask Lady Heidmarch to check on this for her since the less she contacts Mr. Donovan for now, the better ...Unselm asking on Joanna's behalf.
- Laying the people we've found in the Crow to rest, if we haven't done that already ...Note that there were no dead bodies in the Crow - you did bring back some comatose folks and left them at the Arvensoar
- Letting Captain Brast know they've done what they set out to do ...Not Yet Done
- Arranging travel to the Mushfens... ...Unselm arranging.
...so, by my measure, the only tasks where you actively need to do something will be at the Arvensoar (asking about the Derro's victims) and out at the Crow (back to Captain Brast)... neither of these will prove to be particularly long-winded in-depth activities so - with a little bit of GM Magic - I reckon we'll have you on a boat to the Lady's Light very soon!!!

Rowenna's kitten days?
A kitten that someone likely dumped off near my parents' home; a guy my cousin knows is supposed to come pick her up as a Christmas gift for his kid but until then they're keeping her....though I think my mom rather likes her so who knows? Dreamer (her temporary? name) is a doll and super friendly!

Joanna Whitehall |

I'm sorry, I'm sick and feverish. I hope to be better by the week end, but all my (feeble) energy is spend at work...
Oh man, that's not good! Hope you get well soon.

D'awww! That's adorable! I'm sad to hear that someone probably abandoned her, but it's nice that she's going to have a good home. :)
Oh, and I can't wait until Rowenna and Halli meet. Halli is the size of a full grown wolf, but she's still a puppy.

Joanna Whitehall |

No worries. Although Rowenna might have one that's wolf shaped and named Halli.

Joanna Whitehall |

Glad to have ya back, Arsith! :)
Okay, since we need to get supplies, I figured I'd make a list since I don't think it's been done yet.
- 2 Large tents (I know Teldon has a tent for 2, but I figured it'd be good to have tents for the rest of us. We could also store our supplies in one and keep them out of the weather.) Alternatively, we could just nab a pavilion tent, but that might be a little much.
- Bedrolls and blankets for those of us that don't have one.
- 3 weeks of rations for 7 people
- 3 weeks of food for a cat and a wolf
- fishing gear so we can supplement the rations if we need to.
- Cooking kit
- Mess kits
- Chalk
- Rope
- Grappling hook(s)
- Supplies for documenting the Lady's Light
And that's all I can think of. Anyone have any additions?

I had bought 6 cots (and blankets) and 3 two-person tents with our traveling allowance from the consortium... the only thing is, without horses to carry stuff we're going to have trouble transporting provisions- unless we can scrounge up enough money for a bag of holding or a handy haversack we may need to be pretty careful about what all we bring?

Joanna Whitehall |

That actually brings up a good question, what is our budget?

Joanna Whitehall |

Cords of the mule would also work.
Sorry to hear that, Teldon. Hope things work out well for you.

Teldon Moore |

Thanks- its nothing horrific, things are just incredibly busy/stressful right now. I should be back to fairly normal next Tuesday (that goes for Jade Regent and Bloody Jack too).

Ziomarra Callinovo |

Teldon: It is Christmas week, and IIRC you're a minister, so I TOTALLY understand why you might feel a bit under the gun right now!
Everyone: Also questioning what our budget is. Would we be able to procure a bag of holding to carry this stuff?

Joanna Whitehall |

I have no idea how much Joanna has, so I don't know how much I've got to contribute.

Teldon Moore |

I have 150g and I'm willing to throw it in, though it sounds like we don't have enough... maybe we could ask Lady Heidmarch if she has one we could borrow?

Joanna Whitehall |

Total budget: 1133 + 275 + 150 + 240 + 200 = 1998
2 GP short of a handy haversack. :\ my sheet says I have 14 gp 4 sp, but I know that's probably not accurate.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

Oh well. Maybe we shoukd concentrate on the other stuff... at least the stuff we could concievably carry into a swamp.

Joanna Whitehall |

The Muleback Cords, however, are only 1000 gp, and give you a +8 to your strength when determining carrying capacity. Joanna would benefit the most from using them, given how carrying capacity scales. She could carry a little over 300lbs and still be at a light load. She could carry over 900 lbs. before being overloaded.

Briana Kaddren |
Honestly if we had the money I'd say we should just get a Bag of Holding over the Handy Haversack but since even the smallest BoH is still 2500gp we might be better off just getting the Muleback Cords for Joanna for now and budgeting for a BoH in the future - assuming we don't happen to find one first.
Otherwise we'll just have to be mindful of what we're willing to take with us and what we're willing to try doing without. Briana and Teldon also have decent ranks in Survival so doing some foraging for food along the way might be an option as well.
*edit* Adding this here since it overlaps with like half of my PbP games but due to holiday stuff and odd work schedules and trying to keep up on my sleep my posting might be erratic until after New Year's.

No dramas... happy for you folks to say that's what you're buying and we'll just zero the communal funds... I'm sure that with all of your inestimable charms, you can find a store willing to sell you a mildly discounted Handy Haversack!!!!

GM Zed |

So, as yuletide approaches, I shall take my opportunity to crawl out from behind the GM's screen and wish you all a Happy Christmas (or other non-denominational greetings of the season)... it's been great to finally say farewell to Shards of Sin... and move into Book 2!!! Whilst I am sure things will slow down a little over the holidays, I am looking forward to your adventures out at the Lady's Light!!!

Joanna Whitehall |

Same here. Hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and get to enjoy some time with your families.
I can't wait to dive into the Lady's Light and I am looking forward to whatever module you have lined up for us this time. :D

...ahhh, I think we're doing a pure Lady's Light so no blended in module this time around... after that though...
...as to getting you folks into Book 2 proper, look out for a mega post to get you on the boat to the Lady's Light (once you've wrapped up with Brast... Happy for that to be single posts really) some time over the next couple of days...

GM Zed |

The curtain lowers for an Intermission...
So, as this festive season settles down across the land, the question that you should ask yourself is 'Have I been good this year?' ...and if the answer is 'Yes' then turn away now for GM Zed needs someone with evil running cold and hard in their veins, to uphold the rule of law in the face of the bleating flock of the populace, to swear fealty to the very denizens of hell... in short, GM Zed needs a Hellknight!!!
One of my Emerald Spire games is going to drop from five players to four shortly - our stout-hearted warrior has IRL decided to build a tribe of little folk and is therefore needing to step away from the game. We are on the cusp of Level 11 in the superdungeon and will be character level 9 in the near future... and, as to why the adventurers might have a Hellknight travel with them? Well they are somewhat bound by the will of the commander of the nearby Hellknight Garrison and, I think, it should make for a pretty exciting dynamic given the backgrounds of the current players!!!
So, before I put this out on any kind of wider recruitment thread, I thought I'd see if there was any interest within my current players... anyone fancy a seat at the table? Post here or PM me... BTW, it's a really good group and we've got a great posting rate / dynamic going on... hopefully I'm offering a fun game to someone here :)

Joanna Whitehall |

Yep. :) Thank you for that.

Ziomarra Callinovo |

I am SO tempted...
Is there a particular order that this character should be from?
[EDIT:] I actually have a couple of Hellknight ideas... Would you PM me with more details of the campaign, character design specs, etc?

Joanna Whitehall |

Oh, I have an idea! What if Zee's character and mine were a "good cop, bad cop" team. Which is which is a matter of intense debate. :D

Teldon Moore |

While we're on the topic of recruitment... I know several of you are already in the divine RotRL game I'm running but (for those who aren't) I'm going to start up another Runelords game in the new year. This one will have some similarities to the divine version but also some substantial differences (all the characters will be orphans raised together at Turandarock's, all will have had anger issues as a child that culminated in a serious freak out just before the late unpleasantness, and all will gain some free bloodrager powers on top of their normal abilities). If anyone's interested or curious let me know and I'll link the recruitment thread once I post it.

'fraid I can really only take one player without seriously distorting the game... it's a superdungeon but is still gets mighty crowded in some of those room - especially if I have to start bumping numbers of enemies!!!

Bit tight for time this side of Christmas so, if you do want to push things onwards with respect to thinking about concepts maybe just take a look at the Gameplay Thread... the campaign is linked in my first post about needing a player... and think about what might fit. With respect to Orders, the important ones here are Order of the Pike (in charge at Fort Inevitable), the Order of the Nail (a small but politically growing faction) and the Order of the Gate... it isn't likely that other orders would be active here.
There is no massive rush to get a character together... the party are currently trying to salvage a dragon's hoard... so this is more of a New Year thing. Given that there's a couple of folks interested, I'll suggest getting no more than a concept together and then posting here or PM'ing me...

Joanna Whitehall |

Okay, well, there goes that idea. :P
I'll have a basic idea PMd to you in a little while.
