The ruined monastery is exactly one of those places parents warn their children about. I wonder why...

Female Elf Wizard

Aya unleashes another Ray of Frost Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 for a possible Frost Damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4.

Liberty's Edge

Aya:
Ok...she has partial cover...I'm granting flank, here, just because if you didn't move back some, there would be melee interference...and I know nobody but me has a map...it's in my head...anyhow, it also gets rid of her partial cover...

The old woman shreiks in anger as she.gets hit again by the freezing cold...but can't afford to look away from the two swordsmen pressing her hard.

Liberty's Edge

Falcon:
There's definitely something going on here that you can't figure out. Though she's tiny, Manton does exactly as she asks, and they quickly disappear into the back.

You know it's good to see you, but it's never a good sign when you show up...is the last you hear as the door closes.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

Falcon goes outside and tries to find a way to the back of the Giant's Mug. If successful she looks for a window, approaches it and listens.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

Liberty's Edge

Falcon:
Apparently, it's kind of hard to hear when you aren't tall enough to get your ear to the window. ;)

Antonio flips his cape in the womans face. [improved feint; my bluff vs her sense motive to attack her Flat Footed AC]
Bluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Then he tries to punch her with his swept hilt for nonlethal damage.
punch: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 3 - 4 = 5 for a possible 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 nonlethal bludgeoning damage.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

Falcon looks around for anything that he can stand on to get a better position under the window. If successful, moves it into position, climbs up, and listens.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Liberty's Edge

She gets thoroughly baffled by the cloak, but the punch fails to connect, anyhow.

Reiko steps to the side, blocking her escape, and swings the katana in a sweeping arc...

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Liberty's Edge

Even surrounded, the sword deflects off of the stone rather than biting into flesh.

Liberty's Edge

Falcon:
Now that you can hear...

...ogres...be trouble...do you think is going on? Manton's voice.

I've followed this chief...years...not like mosy ogres...cautious, almost wise. You don't understand how dangerous... ...the whole clan. The woman's voice.

Whole clan? ...answer the question... ...they want? Manton again.

...will need food...and you know what ogres eat... ..
hard to say. We need to be ready...anything!
The woman's voice again.

Hey, dwarf, what are you doing? One of the local farmers, coming your way...frowning...

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

I am uh just listening to their conversation what's this about the whole clan thing and ogres about?

"Alive dammit!" Antonio shouts. "Grapple her!"

Liberty's Edge

Falcon:
OGRES? Whut? The man seems dumbfounded...speaking very loudly...a few other nearby folks stop what they're doing and look up.

Liberty's Edge

Antonio, 2nd fort save, please...

Liberty's Edge

Surrounded, wounded, and running out of options, the woman reverses the blade...and plunges it into her lower chest.

No...you won't...take me...*sputter* ...alive.

...as she collapses, a little blood flows from her mouth...

Female Elf Wizard

Search her.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

Falcon steps down and walks back around the building and reenters the bar.

Liberty's Edge

Falcon:
A group of people crowd in with you...all looking for answers...from where they heard it. That means that most turn to the farmer first...who then points at you. He was the one, talkin' 'bout ogres...

Liberty's Edge

The old lady is no longer wearing the cape she had on (it's wedged into rocks on the other mound to draw attention) but she's still wearing her apron...in which are 5 more darts (one half coated with something sticky) and three more...unusual knives. The one in her chest looks very high quality. There are six bottles here as well, three empty...and a small metal flask...also empty.

On her side is a coinpurse.

Female Elf Wizard

Aya casts Detect Magic and concentrates on everything of hers that glows, one at a time.

"What? No! Don't!"
Antonio drops his sword and dives to grapple her. He wrests the blades from her; then tries to put his hands on the wound to prevent her from bleeding out. (To no avail?)
"No! Don't you die on us you pile of crap! You're going to tell us everything you hear me? Everything! YOU'RE GOING TO TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON!" He shouts furiously.

Liberty's Edge

...or rather...he collapses trying to...words slurring as he falls into her...

It was a nice try, but the dice decided otherwise. ;)

Liberty's Edge

Suicide is difficult in Pathfinder, when someone wants you alive. ;)

Saving a little trouble, though the bottles detect as magic, they're simply infusions, useless to anyone but the alchemist that prepared them.

She also has lingering magic running on her.

Liberty's Edge

Falcon:
People follow you in...Ogres? What's this about ogres? OGRES? Did somebody say ogres?

The Giant's Mug gets quite crowded...

Liberty's Edge

Sakuro:
There's a sudden commotion at the little village inn...something is going on!

Cousin Fred:
"Right, now come on this way." she said, actually heading towards the source of the commotion. Better to know what was going on than not know, and if things started looking nasty, well... she still had a few tricks up her sleeves, such as they were. As she went, however, she was carefully pondering the various options she had for spellcasting. One good Color Spray could drop a whole group of problems all at once if she did it right, and outside of that...

Liberty's Edge

Sakuro:
There's a crowd of folks surrounding a dwarf, asking about...ogres...

Liberty's Edge

Sakuro:
Your cousin Fred joins in...[b]Ogres?!? What's this about OGRES?

Inn:
Sakuro looked at her Cousin again. "I'm sure they'll repeat it at some point if we really need to. That said..." she looked her cousin up and down. "I don't mean this in a bad way, but I think you should stay a long ways away from any ogre." He... didn't really strike her as monster-slaying material. She wasn't, either, of course... but that was neither here nor there. What he really needed was somebody to look after him properly.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

Sheriff, Anyone know where the sheriff is?

Female Elf Wizard

Aya concentrates on the lingering magic.

Liberty's Edge

Aya:
Transmutation, weak...oddly, two very similar auras.

Liberty's Edge

Inn:
The back door opens, and Manton steps into the room...for a moment, voices go quiet. The small young woman steps out and around him. The contrast between the two is almost startling...Manton is a bear of a man, with short cut hair...and a rather well kept appearance. She is small, almost tiny, next to him...with wild, untrimmed hair...her clothes are ragged leathers, stained here and there.

Manton looks hard at the crowd now staring at him...So...what's all this ruckus about?

...the silence lingers for a moment...then...

Tania? My god...you don't age.

The new speaker is a tall man, but inches below Manton...dark, with a thick moustasche and a collection of worry lines on his face.

Sherrif. The young woman speaks acknowledgement...nothing more?

What's this about OGRES? We gotta right to know! The farmer speaks, and the crowd finds their voices again, echoing his concern.

Female Elf Wizard

Aya continues her concentration trying to identify the auras.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

Falcon moves to the sheriff and says in a low voice:
I have been looking for you. I would like to talk to you when you get a moment.

Liberty's Edge

Aya:
One aura seems to be Cat's Grace...the other is very strange...you'd almost swear it was the same aura...but it is somehow...different.

Liberty's Edge

Inn:
The sherrif all but brushes Falcon aside with a dismissive gesture as he clears his throat. Tania? I'm thinkin' you know somethin' 'bout this?

The young woman looks around through the crowd, then rolls her eyes.

Yeah. A clan of ogres came down the mountain...and are ambushing wagons on the road. Yeah...THAT clan.

Female Elf Wizard

I believe she is an alchemist. Remember the alchemy lab we found underground?

Female Elf Wizard

So, are we going to heal her and try to get information from her about the cult and the summoning? I am sure she is the cult leader. Or we could do a fairly quick search of the underground area and the farm, house and barn. Then take her back to Lakeroot and the Sheriff.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

Falcon steps into the crowd, waits, listens, and watches.

Inn:
A murmur passes through the crowd...then, just as voices are rising...QUIET! Back room, you two...an'...you, dwarf...you kin fight? Anybody else got any experience with...ah...handlin' monsters? I know alla ya farmers an' such is good folk...an' it's best if ya got spears an' such ta keep 'em with ya...but stay away, if they come to the village. One whallop from an ogre's club, an' I'm moppin' up a grease stain that useta be you. Where are those darn adventurers? I figgered they'd be back from the farm, by now...sure could use 'em.

The sherrif is obviously anxious...nobody has heard this much from him...all at once...in quite a while. He ushers Manton and Tania into the back room...and looks at everyone else expectantly.

Male Dwarf Fighter/2

Falcon steps into the back room with the Sheriff.

Liberty's Edge

After gathering the rest of the easy loot...the main part of whitch is a book found in the second upstairs bedroom, filled with all sorts of strange scribblings...which after a while, Aya identifies as a formulary...it's dinnertime. Everybody is hungry, to some degree...

There is food in the kitchen and cellar, if anyone wants to cook...but you can't help but remember the platters Manton served up at lunchtime...when most of you didn't have too much of an appetite. Of course...you did bring some...

Liberty's Edge

If needed, I'll make a list of the reasonably easily marketable items...there's a farmhouse full of little stuff...the big items are the formulary, the alchemy lab, the alchemical goods...and that greataxe Doran was carrying...though Lunk wore a breastplate worth a bit, that would be next in line. Of course, there are the sacks of coinage...when you finally count it, including what you find in the bedrooms, there's 337 gold and 518 silver.

Female Elf Wizard

Gather up the coin and take the Formulary. Did we find any horses, oxen or other beasts of burden? Did we find a wagon or a cart? If yes to both, load our unconscious folks, both enemy and party members, in the cart/wagon and head for town with them. If no cart/wagon but pack animal, tie the unconscious folks, both enemy and party members, on and head for town. If neither, carry unconscious folks, both enemy and party members, to town.
