Shards of the Titanswar

Game Master EldonG

The ruined monastery is exactly one of those places parents warn their children about. I wonder why...

Male Human Brawler

Damn! Cauis retches at the sight of the carnage. He coughs, chokes, and sputters, gathering himself back together. He moves for the back door. He draws a javelin as he moves.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21 Perception check to see the cause of carnage.

Liberty's Edge

Cauis and Liandoli:

Off in the distance, beyond the fields is a subtle green glow amongst a copse of trees. The trail of blood stretches that general direction.

Farmer Gotson sees the trail of blood...and people looking that way...and grabs an oil lamp and stout club, and bursts out the back, growling and double timing...

Female Half Elf Shaman

Wordlessly Liandoli follows after him, leaving her hawk high in the air to scout.

Male Human Brawler

Cauis heads towards the green glow, his longer, younger legs easily keeping pace with the farmer.

Doran not taking time to investigate the scene follows Antonio with Great axe in hand. He whispers to the swashbuckler:Whoever would slaughter innocent women and children can't be taken prisoner...understand me? the half orc stares at the human to make sure his intentions are understood.

Female Elf Wizard

Aya follows the group keeping an open eye to the sides for anything unusual.

Liberty's Edge

Anybody going toward the trees :
As you all approach the trees, you first hear the wailing cries of a young woman...then the chanting. In the fading light, you can see the stone...the strange runes on it glowing green... enough to illuminate the cloaked, hooded figures, even through the trees...then you see the one standing over them...animal skull-headed, and taller by a head...it holds a cruel ceremonial dagger in bony hands.

When it sees the approaching light, it howls...Interlopers! SLAY THEM!

"Look! There's a green glow in the treeline! A blood trail from the house leads towards it!" Antonio shouts when he spots the evidence. He hustles along the trail towards the glow (but not fast enough to lose his companions.)

Doran wrote:
Whoever would slaughter innocent women and children can't be taken prisoner...understand me?

Antonio grips his crossbow tightly.

"Y' won't get much arguement from me." He replied grimly. "Still. I want to know why. Think I might like t' make whoever it was did that to say why."
He looked at Doran meaningfully.
"An' maybe whoever won't want to talk."

Stumbling over the scene in the clearing, Antonio is momentarily astounded.
"There's a bunch of 'em!" He shouts before snap shooting his crossbow at the leader. Whatever it was he was doing he wanted to stop.
Crossbow attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 for a possible 1d8 ⇒ 3 piercing damage.
Then he cast it aside and drew his sword with anticipation...

Female Elf Wizard

Aya casts sleep spell into the center of the hooded figures, but so that none of the party are included in its range. will save DC 16 to negate. (Initiave?)

Female Elf Wizard

If I have to move to get within range, I will before casting.

YOU'LL FIND MORE FIGHT FROM ME COWARDS!!! Doran charges the closet hooded figure and swings his axe with tremendous force

Doran will go into a Rage and use a power attack on his charge.
attack roll+rage+charge-PA: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 + 2 - 1 = 17

Doran will suffer -4 AC until his next round

Male Human Brawler

Cauis launches his javelin from his meaty fist towards the leader, then moves forward, drawing another javelin in case he doesn't get far enough. Jackals! Murderers! Leave her alone! his face is flush with righteous anger and his limbs tremble with adrenaline.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 in the unlikely event that hits, it does 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 damage.

Liberty's Edge

Yes, initiative...

Farmer Gotson: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Cultists: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Leader: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

There is enough light for no penalties as long as you stay close to the lantern or the sickly green glow. There is rough terrain everywhere except for about a ten foot strip between the fields and the trees...which offer cover to the cultists as long as they stay behind them. Starting range is 120 feet. Rough terrain in the fields will not slow movement along the rows...the way you're going.

Perception, DC 10:
The young lady tied to the stone is terrified, but appears uninjured.

Liberty's Edge

OK...so...results as you close...Antonio hits the leader with a bolt, at 120'. It howls in pain, but is reacting quickly. I'll need everyone's initiative before I can give more results.

Female Elf Wizard

Aya's initiative 8+3=11

Female Elf Wizard

On her initiative Aya moves 30 ft. toward the hooded figures and casts the Sleep spell.

Liandoli narrows her eyes at the hooded figures, then begins chanting a spell.

Casting sleep, which is a full round action. Won't come into effect until the beginning of my next turn.

Also, everybody remember you have guidance on you. Don't forget to use the +1 bonus at some point.

It's Sleep. Go fig. Counterspell, anyone?

Doran is next, at 18...moves to 60'.
Reiko and the farmer move to 60' on 11
Aya moves to 90' and casts.
Cauis on 9 moves to 60.
Liandoli stops at 120' and begins casting on 7.
The cultists turn and move to the edge of the woods (30') on 1...drawing daggers.

I'll pass on the counterspell. I'm immune to sleep effects and if everybody in the area except for me is knocked out that is TOTALLY fine. Do we have a map? How many of them could I hit with my sleep spell?

On Reiko's turn, he charges the leader.

Liberty's Edge

Don't forget, there's rough terrain between you all and the leader...you can't charge through it. You can now charge a cultist, though.

Liandoli, you have your pick of basically any 4 grouped cultists...they're all basically at the tree line... of course, the leader casts first...

Liberty's Edge

(Assuming the spell isn't countered) I need saves from Doran, Cauis, and Gotson...

Gotson: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Female Half Elf Shaman

Sorry guys, not to be selfish but countering spells is messy unless you're good at it so there's every chance I would lose my own spell without negating his.

Well I'll just hit any 4 that I can, preferably catching their leader as one of them.

Liberty's Edge

It can be...and in no way am I suggesting you should... or that anybody should... I just saw 3 prepared to go off, and figured I'd throw it out there. By that time, Aya has yet to cast also, so I left the option open. That's all. :)

Liberty's Edge

The leader is a distance away from the others, so...Saves: 4d20 ⇒ (18, 16, 2, 8) = 44

2 collapse to the ground, snoring.

Regardless of other results, the leader turns and steps toward the girl, growling his discontent...

Male Human Brawler

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Cauis takes a nap.

Female Elf Wizard

Spellcraft 18+6=24
Since I did not have a readied action for a counterspell, it is not my initiave yet, casting a sleep spell is a full round action for both me and the leader and since I am at 120 ft from the leader (right?) (spell range is 110 ft for me) I am really unsure of my options in this regard. Sorrry.

Female Elf Wizard

Did the leader take a five ft. step before casting? Remember casting sleep is a full round action?

Liberty's Edge

Apologies, you're right. I took a closer look at counterspell. It won't work after all.

Liberty's Edge

The leader, growling in anger stabs at the young woman...

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Hitting only because she's tied down...she howls in pain...

Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Female Elf Wizard

Eldon, I am waiting on your decision on the counterspell, distances etc.

Female Elf Wizard

Eldon and I have conferred by phone and decided the 'counterspell' will not work in this case. It must be prepared as a readied action before the enemy casts the spell to be countered. Therefore in the last round Aya moved forward and cast Mage Armor on herself. This round she will cast Magic Missile on the leader. 1d41+1 = 2+1+1 = 4

Liberty's Edge

Not if you actually go with Antonio... the one there used his AoO. You're clear. Now, this is difficult terrain, so you make it 15’ into the woods...still across a clearing to the leader, the stone, and the girl...
