"Stop. I think someone's here." Sakuro hissed quietly, putting a hand on her cousin's shoulder before slowly turning around. Yeah, that sense of being watched wasn't going away, and considering what he was carrying... the girl focused her attention on the world around her, looking for anything that was out of place. If it was a thief or something, well, she'd just have to help deal with it somehow...

Ready Action: Cast Color Spray (if feeling too threatened).
Though there are people about, nobody seems to be paying you any attention. (I've assumed that you're somewhere nominally private...a copse of trees near the festival grounds...)
The first one was too sudden...but the second one...you could see that it came from atop a nearby mound. Someone is extremely well hidden there behind the stones atop the mound. There's not a lot of space there...so you can guess where pretty easily, though you still haven't seen anybody.
Aya points at a nearby mound and yells,
I saw the dart that just hit Varuk come from atop that nearby mound. There must be someone extremely well hidden there behind the stones atop the mound.
"Come on, time to go back." Sakuro said, grabbing her cousin's hand and moving towards the festival again. "I keep getting the feeling we're being watched, and I've learned to trust my instincts. We should be safer within a good crowd of people." she didn't really like what was going on, but unlike some, she had no intention of simply waiting for things to happen when she could do something about it.

Varuk moves back to escape a line of fire. Taking cover behind one of the grave markers. Looking to his sword he says, "Great war-king, bolster me that I may destroy this enemy of yours. So that I may cleave her head from her body and give up her battered carcass in offering to you."

Antonio nods at Aya. Ditching his torch he takes his cape in his left hand and makes a careful stealthy approach to the mound.
Stealth:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Just so the situation is well understood...you guys followed the trail around the mound you came out of...and up it, where she apparently climbed the mound. There are stones atop every crypt-mound...some of which Varuk is hiding behind at the moment. You'd seen her robe behind these stones...from the back...and it's there, and can be seen more easily for those of you still making an approach. Varuk was the first one up, and hit as soon as he got on top. It's a ridiculously easy climb, so I didn't call for rolls.
Hopefully, everyone understands the basics at this point.
Now, Antonio, who hadn't made it up top yet...is approaching the mound Aya says she saw the dart come from...not 10' from the main one.
Aya moves to the side of the mound where she is hiding and to where she can see the old lady. Then she unleashes a ray of frost.

As you stand there talking, a small human woman strides into the tavern. Manton, easily a foot taller, takes a step back and grimaces. So...what brings you here?
The little lady crosses her arms, and matches his look...Back room.
She takes off, heading behind the bar. She dresses a bit oddly...rough leathers...and carries weapons...most prominent, a bow that seems longer than she is tall...
Falcon studies the woman. Sense Motive:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
He then moves as close as he can without causing alarm and listens to them. Perception:1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Cauis, I'm assuming you've been in the area...enough to have been at the festival before. I'd like to see backstory from everyone... I DO make the game somewhat custom, based on backstories... if you're even a little bit known and trusted, it'll matter.
I'll pen mine down soon, but Reiko is a wandering warrior from Tian Xia. He is looking for some sort of weapon or power that will give his clan more strength to defend itself against clan wars and and political struggle.
Guys, if you know anyone who might like to play a caster, I'd like to have one in the game before we start rolling... it looks like my friend will have to be added later...
Also, http://invisiblecastle.com/stats/grid/ appears to be offline since last night... In the absence of this site, should I just make the tic-tac-toe grid and place my rolls in order as I roll them?

I'll work on posting a backstory tomorrow under Cauis' homepage, but basically Cauis is a woodsman/lumberjack and has been to the festival before (probably does a bit of trade with the merchants and farmers: wood for sheep:P

Howdy y'all. I am the female elf wizard Eldon mentioned. I am his father in real life. We have been playing together off and on for many, many years. Glad to be onboard. :)
Hey hey! My father and I have played dnd since I was about seven, lol. Good to meet a couple of people with the same background! I am glad to be involved in this, I was really looking forward to playing alongside EldonG in another pbp, but the GM didn't pick him for some crazy reason. I even voted for him. Good to meet you!
OK...just so it's stated...post once a day if you can...2—3 times...or more, when appropriate, is preferred... if the group is in an encounter and I don't get a post from anyone in that day, I'll assume they're attending to something minor that seems important, and move on. Don't worry about initiative order unless it really matters for you...I can adjust. If you miss more than 2—3 days without notifying me, I'll assume you're dropping out, and consider a replacement... so let me know in advance if you can. If you need a long hiatus, I can make arrangements for that.
That being said, there may be times that the game goes on hiatus...it's a long campaign, and life happens. I may have problems, or folks may just need time. I want to see this to the end,so if we take a break, I'll try to keep in touch. Hopefully it'll be pre-planned.
Hello everybody, EldonG recruited me in another thread to fill the role of your divine caster. I'm trying out the ACG shaman class, one that is a hybrid of the witch and druid. Liandoli right now is a caster with decent combat abilities, but as the game progresses she will focus all of her abilities on her spellcasting.
I don't have the background completely done yet, but here's the short version: She's a half-elf bastard who was abandoned by her mother and shunned by her father so she fled into the wilderness.
Much more detail to come on that later, don't worry. Looking forward to getting started!

so ironically enough i built Doran with the titan mauler archetype without reading the description for the game. Hopefully we fight tons of big baddies. I want him to wield the weapons of his TITANIC FOES!
My friend hasn't been answering messages for a couple of days...I'll insert him when I can, if I ever get the chance. In the meantime, I'm moving into the meat of it...
When this encounter is over, I'd like any thoughts on the game so far...likes, dislikes, things you think might make the game better...I do this at every tabletop session I run, and I'm new at PBP. I have definite limitations... right now, I'm working with a sad little android tablet... but I'm hoping to get something better ASAP.
I'll have access to a real computer over the weekend and hope to do a couple of rather important maps...the village.. the valley...maybe some more of importance... The Giant's Mug would be simple, but nice. I'm open to suggestions... but I won't have access to the world map. Sorry 'bout that.
I am brutally honest when people ask for constructive criticism. So know here that I'm pulling no punches.
The only thing I didn't like was the lack of a map, which is something you are already working on fixing. As a fellow DM who puts a lot of details into the storyline, I like how you gave us a feel for the characters, like the Sheriff's little habits. Good job!
So 483 apiece? And the only thing that would make it better is a map, though your npc's and story are top notch. I really enjoy the depth of the npc's and story so far.

Yea I think the map looks really good. Especially being a home grown, I hope see maps for combat being play by post loses alot of fluidity compared to f2f. Maps help to make the descriptions easier to understand.
Ok...I have something I'd like to put out there for everyone - I have some home-designed critters that don't follow normal rules...and I have special rules for them.
This is nothing new...but I don't want to start into something and have folks freaking out on me...not all of them are playetested, either...but I've been doing this stuff for decades. You can expect that I might push the party a bit, but I won't overwhelm you.
Just bear with me if you have an encounter that seems a bit off...and trust that I've thought it through.

no problem it's a fantasy setting. I imagine a lot of the creatures in the bestiary aren't uber balanced. My house game i'm playing a dwarfling (halfling raised by dwarves) barbarian. Our group killed a mob of 15 goblins plus their boss. with little damage taken. We then later ran through a stagnate stream and a water strider swarm did 5 damage to each of us and 2 points of str damage. the wizard was in negative hit points. my point is make it fun and people won;t care. Doran will swing his axe until the baddies or himself is dead.

this is a really cool story so far. by far the best RP content from a homegrown ive seen in a pbp setting. kudos
Yeah, this is great. I now wish I had made a more fun character. I feel kind of locked in with the whole honorable warrior thing now. Perhaps I'll have all of this carnage and death affect his mind some and have him change up a bit.

Reiko just a heads up, when I do pbps I usually have my characters bond extra close with a character and rival another one to bring more dynamic to the group. Hopefully doran isnt trolling you but reiko's affinity for pageantry is kinda the complete opposite of the axe swinging beat stick im playing my half orc as
Ah no, it's all good. Character interaction is a great thing, whether it's friendship or rivalry. I just want to round him out a bit more. I like my characters to have a lot of personality, and role play potential.
