Doran intended on going to help where the voices screaming for the monsters to stay back. I was assuming that I was headed in the direction with antonio and reiko to save the merchant but if not doran is more than willing to help another civilian.

Reiko Arashi
Reiko moves so that he is in between the opening of the tent and the most creatures.
Master Hortense, are you alright? I think we have beaten most of them back, but stay in the tent just in case. This mist makes it hard to see, and I don't want you taken by a wild swing.
From what I understand, Aya and Antonio are with me, and the others are helping other groups of people? Or all we all together?
Reiko Arashi
Reiko stands his position, cutting down any mist creatures that attempt to get at Hortense.

Reiko Arashi
Doran, wow, you really did make dice gods mad. We better look into getting someone to cast atonement for you
Reiko Arashi
Well, there WAS mention of titans. ;)
Reiko Arashi
That's rough. Maybe next time the dice will fall your way.

Upon seeing the mist clear, and hearing the sounds from inside the tent, Reiko slides inside and takes a look. If Hortense is under attack, he attacks the attacker viciously with sword and spell.

Master Hortense, my apologies, I heard the noises, and thought you may be under attack. I believe we have beaten the creatures for now, but you may want to stay with Antonio and myself until we are sure.
He peeks back outside, ready to attack if there is anything near him.
Feval Hortense
Master Hortense stops for a moment...thoughtful...
Say...your little...bunch...seem pretty competent. I'll give each one of you...twenty gold...if you see me safely to the Roost. Twenty gold for each that accompanies me.
Antonio Nedraid
Antonio looks (and listens) for anyone else screaming or calling for help.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
"Well, assuming no one else needs help, I'll do it." Replied Antonio.

aye sir! permitted the sheriff is agreeable, ill aid you on your journey to "The Roost" Doran's rage begins to dissipate as he stands on guard with no visible threats nearby. He grasps his forehead for a few moments before shaking his head a couple times and blinking profusely. Ugh, every time without fail, one of these days i need to get this checked out.
Once he is confident that no more enemies are in the area and the fog seems to be lessening he will enter the tent and properly introduce himself to the would be employer. Doran will explain to the merchant that he was just hired by the sheriff the day prior but will help in any way he can.
Feval Hortense
Well, good. It's a two day trip by wagon. I hope to be leaving within...two hours. TWO HOURS, AM I HEARD?
After such a soft, educated voice, Master Hortense belts out the last like a barbarian chieftain... and gets almost instant answers. All around the immediate area, lesser merchants and their assistants snap into motion. Hortense turns toward those of you there...
Speak to those others you work with...and make ready. I'll pay you all, should you all accompany me there. I am a man of my word.

Description:
Hortense is a short, pudgy man, likely into his 50s. He wears the latest fashions in silk and satin. It might be tempting to discount him, if it wasn't for his light blue eyes that seem to take in everything, and the astounding presence he exudes when he decides to. Wealth is everywhere in the tent, and yet you can't help but sense that he's 'roughing it'.
His bodyguard comes in, looking more than anything like a dwarf that's grown too tall...though he has only a short beard, and no gut to speak of. He wears a very elaborate breastplate, and carries a shield large enough to hide behind, and the largest one-handed sword you've seen in the village. He drops sword and Shield on a rack and starts carrying large, heavy chests to the main wagon, with minimal direction.
Reiko Arashi
Reiko looks around, and his eyes seem to be seeing something very far away for a second. Almost immediately, they snap back to the present and he looks at Hortense.
We were going to check out the ruins not far from here, as it may have something to do with all that's gone on. The Roost may be a good place to go as well, I hear the library there is likely to have more information we need. I'm not sure what we should do, now...
He looks around at the party members in the tent, awaiting their opinions.

I don't know the best coarse of action, I'm concerned that without proper knowledge of the enemy at hand we may get in over our heads leaving for the roost could be a good of place as any to do research. But I fear if we leave the town unattended the fog might return with more foes. It's hard to say. I'll go get Sheriff Perton maybe he'll have some recommendations. Doran heads back to the Giant's Mug looking for the sheriff and asking for him to accompany him to Hortense' tent.
Antonio Nedraid
Antonio tips his hat back thoughtfully.
"Well, if things are settled here now, there's no reason not to escort Master Hortense and go on to the ruins from there. We were going to have to leave here anyway to find anything useful."
Cauis Garnillus
Once Cauis sees the fog dissipate, he checks the area for victims, making sure there isn't anyone in need of first aid before rejoining the group. If anyone needs aid, he makes sure to bring them to someone who can provide it.
Once informed of the idea of bringing Hortense to the Roost, he scoffs "So you think it's a good idea to leave the village for several days, with all of these attacks going on? Whatever is going on, it is happening here, not in Hortense's village. I won't abandon these people for a few paltry gold coins."

There are a number of victims... some few beyond even magical healing. One of the young deputies lays on the ground, mute testimony to how bad it could have been...his throat is torn out. More than one merchant won't be going home by their own volition.
Several are simply injured...to pretty vastly differing degrees...even Hortense has a nasty scratch... but he's bandaged it himself. The same is true of his bodyguard.
Liandoli
Liandoli hurriedly clears a large area, then orders anybody still alive to bring the wounded to her. She begins treating the masses to the best of her ability, trusting the party and the others to help organize the effort. "I need anybody who has skills in healing here, now!"
Liandoli will take 10 for a 17 on heal. She'll spend all day here to help the villagers.
