Tania Teg |

Tania takes her sword out.
When the door opens, she'll utter words of encouragement to her friends, imbuing their actions with grace.
Inspire Courage in the surprise or first round (+1 morale bonus to hit, damage and save vs charm and fear).
I am leaving Friday for about ten days. I'll be nowhere near a computer. Feel free to NPC me.

DM Wrath |

The door opened with the typical grind of mechanics from behind the walls. This room was dominated by a huge pool of glowing red fluid and steam in the centre. Beyond that, a plinth rose from the floor with a strangely carved throne. It seemed to be build for someone too large to be human, but too narrow for ogres or their giant kin. Great runes and other symbols of power covered most surfaces of the room, though over it all had been painted markings and words of prayer to Lamashtu, the mother of monsters. These symbols seemed relatively fresh, and by all aprearences were created using blood and dung.
Of more pressing concern was the leering visage of another sinspawn, standing near the doorway and dripping with steaming red liquid as if it had arisen from the pool behind it.
Flapping lazily in the air on the far side of the pool was a tiny creature of demonic appearence. Its head sported two curved horns that curled down to frame a rather angry looking face. The clothing the creature wore and the strange makeup it appeared to have spread across its face made it surprisingly obvious that this was in fact a female Quasit, not something one though of commonly.
She pointed her hand at the group and snarled in accented common Tresspassers! How dare you cross my kingdom and destroy my subjects. KILL THEM MY PET!"
This one's important so I'm letting you roll your initiatives. The Quasit got a 19, so if you can beat that then post actions accordingly. The Sinspawn acts at 12. Summon monster starts this round. No surprise as the creature seemed to know you were coming, but they will be flatfooted if you beat their initiatives.

My undersanding is you wanted the thing to appear in the first round of combat. I figure with the door opening and starting combat, your critter will appear on your initiative. You could easily have timed the door to coincide with this. So your creature will appear and you can act as well.
Actually, a few of you had readied actions now that i look back. Tania's inspire courage will be in effect as well
More detailed update later

DM Wrath |

Idrian responded the fastest. Moving with the grace of his elven heritage, he darted into the room and unleashed a shot at the Sisnpawn, drawing its attention to him immediately. The shot struck the creatures tough hide, but not at the right angle to penetrate nor cause harm. The familiar metal scream came from teh beast as its toungue lashed from between splitting jaws.
Tania ignored the beast, rushing instead to the infernal creature at the back of the room. He movements were fast, but she couldn't position herself in time for an attack.
In response to her bold move, the creature flapped crazily backwards, summoning forth the very fear of the immaterium it came from from and directing at the young bard.
(The imp flys 5' back and casts cause fear at Tania. DC 11 will save or suffer from fear. If passed, still shaken for 1 round. The imp is now in the centre of the pool of liquid.
Feldspar and Mikka are up (initiative group 2). I rolledfor Mikka, she got 18 also. Jo'no and Algus go afterthe sinspawn.

Feldspar Flamebeard |

Feldspar moves into the room and swings his warhammer in an overhead blow crushing down on the sinspawn.
"Torag, aid me in removing the filth of this creature from the world!"
Move to V23.
Swift action to Smite Evil: sinspawn.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 - 1 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 2 + 2 = 11

DM Wrath |

Feldspar rushed into the room and struck the creature heavily with his hammer. The thing seemed less tough, almost like it hadn't hardened yet from it's emergence from the pool. It screamed at him in pain, lashing out with its arms and mouth in a rage brought on by the pain of the Paladin's weapon.
Its arms and toungue flailed about in useless ways though, missing the dwarf by wide margins as it clumsily moved limbs it seemed to be getting used to.
From the back of the group, Mikka summoned forth her power of storm and shot forth an orb of raging wind and hail into the demonic creature hovering above the pool. The blast buffeted the thing and tumbled it slightly in the air but it didn't seem overly phased by the attack
Ok, Jo'no to go and I'll do Algus' turn then as well. No time to update map sorry, but my last post should be close. Will do map this arvo after i finish work.
Also, Mikka don't forget to make your ranged touch attack when you do your storm burst thing. I'm rolling it atm but its probably best if you do. Cheers

Knowledge Planes: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
A look of concern shows on Jo'no's face as he completes his summoning and realizes that his foe is a demon. Fearing that his summoned celestial eagle is going to be of limited benefit against the defences of a demon, he commands it to try to grapple the hellish minion so they will fall to the ground.
Eagle's Grapple Check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
Jo'no then follows up with launching a steaking missile of light from his wand.
Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

DM Wrath |

Jo'No
He remembered his mother mentioning a number of stories of evil mages taking these creatures as familiars as well. The pact was usually tricky, but the benefits to the mage was often worth the risk.
A few things about your summoned eagle sorry. Technically it cannot perform the grapple, it can only attack on your round. In order to make it try to grapple you need to be able to communicate with it. This would mean being able to speak with animals, since the celestial template doesn't give the eagle any language ability.
I checked the eagle, and it doesn't have grapple as a normal ability (no grab, or pounce or grapple etc in attack options), so this attack option falls under the category of other actions in the summon monster spell description.
However, it can make full attacks using smite according to the celestial template. Since its good alignment will overcome the DR of the Quasit, it also has a good chance to damage it if it hits. This will cause the Quasit to make a fly check or drop ten feet according to the flight rules, which will put it into the pool if your eagle succeeds at this.
Sorry to come down on your plan like that, but I've had players in my home game try all sorts of interesting tricks with summoned creatures which makes me follow their rules very closely. If I've missed something that you can do to allow this attack option, let me know and both eagle and quasit will definitely take a dip since your grapple roll was quite good. Cheers

Jo'no Screaminghawk |

Jo'no conjures forth a celestial eagle which appears right next to the quasit. The eagle immediately strikes out at the quasit with a vicious celestially enhanced attack.
Eagle Smites the Quasit

Fly check to remain in flight 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Anxiously scanning around the room, Jo'no shouts out, "That's probably a wizard's familiar!"

DM Wrath |

With a flash of light and the smell of sunbathed fields, a glowing eagle appeared next to the surprised demon. With a high pitched scream, the eagle attacked the evil quasit, scoring a scratch with one of its claws. Almost immediately after, the quasit was struck with a bolt of force from the wand Jo'no carried. Its wings beat frantically as it fought to maintian altitude after the strikes, but it seemed to manage without much difficulty.
Seeing the flying creature was out of range of most of his companions, Algus moved into the room, hurling one of his volatile vials at the quasit as well. For once, his strange brew landed exactly where he wanted it and the the creature was bathed in flame when the vial exploded. It certainly looked impressive, but nearly everyone looked dismayed when the flames dripped from the Quasit with no visible effect. The summoned eagle was also licked by the explosion, though it was only mild damge it took (2 splash damage to celestial eagle)
Idrian took careful aim at the Sinspawn, but had to move his shot at the last moment as Feldspar stepped in front of his line of attack. He drew another arrow though, determined to see the thing dropped.
Over to Tania, then the quasit goes. The quasit's actions will draw an aoo from the eagle and possibly Tania depending on the weapon she has available(reach), so include that too please.

DM Wrath |

With a shout that bordered a little on fear, the Quasit flapped harder, taking itself higher into the air and further back from the Tania and the celestial eagle. Both the bard and the eagle desperately tried to strike the demon, but it avoided them as it moved. It vanished from sight with a suddeness that left the onlookers somewhat confused as to what might have happened Quasit goes invisible and moves away
Feldspar and Mikka to act for this part of round 2. Idrian, the shot you posted above will need to wait for round 3, as you already took a shot this round. That one hit at least though :)

Mikka |

Mikka strides forward coming to just enter the room as she witnesses the quasit vanish. She begins a brief chant calling upon the air's moisture to conjure a heavy mist in the area of the quasit's dissappearance in order to make the flapping of her wings evident by the mists displacement.

Feldspar Flamebeard |

Feldspar takes a step to the side to clear the way for Idrian's attacks and swings his warhammer again, with teeth gritted.

Damage: 1d8 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 + 2 = 10
"With Torag's hammer I cleanse thee!"

DM Wrath |

Feldspar continued to press the attack on his opponent, noting something growing within his weapon as he did so. The hammer was beginning to glow, a faint blue light emanating from the head as he swung it in Torag's name.
The weapon struck with a meaty blow, crushing the sinspawns face and caving half its head in. The creature fell to the ground, twitching and convulsing from the headwound. Even so, its flesh was already knitting back together.
Feldspar
Mikka stepped in and watched the place where the quasit had vanished. She summoned forth the powers of nature, again dropping her brewing storm on the place where the quasit had vanished. While she was unsure whether she had hit the demon or not, the burst of stormy weather at least marked the creatures location while it lasted
GM call on Mikka's spell explained in spoiler
Jo'no and his eagle are up. They know the sqaure teh Quasit is in, but it can't be directly targeted by spells such as magic missile, since you can't actally see it. Make other attacks as normal, but each attack has a 50% miss chance as per concealment rules. Roll these as well please, rolling more that 50 means you miss regardless of the d20 roll. Algus goes after you, and has a tricky plan depending on what your eagle does.

Jo'no Screaminghawk |

The celestial eagle frantically scratches seemingly at the air:

The eagle then dematerializes.
Jo'no continues scanning the room, "Keep your eyes open, there's probably a wizard around here somwhere."
Jo'no delays his turn until there is another target he can see.

DM Wrath |

The golden eagle flew upwards, screaming as it did so and seemingly found something to sink its claws into. As it attacked, Algus threw another of his bombs, aiming for the bird in the hopes of splashing the Quasit as well. Again his aim was true, burning the eagle even as it dossolved away to return to its home plane. Fire washed across the demon, illuminating its presence momentarily while the flames bathed it.
Idrian used this to mark his attack, unleashing his arrow into the centre of the burning mass. The shot struck something in there, but failed to penetrate or stick to the quazit, for it tumbled into the red swirling pool below the spot.
Tania is away, so I'll NPC her action
Tania realised that if the invisible demon moved now, they may never get a chance to track it down again. She dropped her spear and unshouldered her shortbow, taking quick aim and unleashing an arrow. Her shot was as good as Idrians, but again it appeared as if it didn't draw blood on the creature.
Everyone's eys darted about the room, looking for some sign to see where the creature was again. The slight flap of a leathery wing told them it had moved, then and then the sound of chanting could be heard in the arcane tongue.
knowledge arcana DC22
Ok, back to Mikka and Feldspar. Jo'no could also use his readied action, though no other caster seems to have appeared. The Quasit has moved and begun to cast a spell that seems to be taking some time. I have indicated the area where you can hear it coming from. There are 4 squares though. If you wish to target the actual square the Quasit is in, you must make a DC20 perception check as well. If not, I can randomly assign squares for you, or you could give me co-ordinates if you'd like.

DM Wrath |

Feldspar drove his hsmmer deep into the felled Sinspawns body, further crushing the skull and watching as brain matter oozed blackly upon the white floor. Jo'no aided the ending of the evil creatures life by balsting it with acid, and both men sighed in satisfaction as they noted its flesh stopped reknitting itself.
Mikka meanwhile summoned forth her storm spell again, brinin it to bear in the area where she felt the creature was casting. The spell summoned forth its usual cloud of hail and winds, though none could tell whether she had hit the Quasit or not. Certianly its chanting coninued as if uninterupted.
Over to Idrian and Tania. Jo'No as well I believe, sinne the acid spray was a held over readied action.
Durik
This one was more vivid though, and he felt a burning anger deep inside that he had not felt before when this dream came. Searing pain drenched his body as the liquid flame once aain licked against him. The scars erupted with life as the nerves again sang of the agony he had felt that night. Worse was the agony in his heart, watching what had once been his sister as she wrought destruction on those around him.
She turned to him at the end, malice in her eyes and flames burning from the ruin of her hair. When she spoke, her voice was that of Maree "Why would you destroy this gift?" she asked, even as the flames lept from her hands to consume him......
He woke sweating in the night, his hand clutching the dagger he kept below his pillow and the scars on his body itching with false pain and remembered feeling. Around him the church slept, but somewhere an evil stirred and laughed at his anguish.

Idrian loosed another arrow, which flew directly to the centre of where he thought the quasit may have been. The arrow snapped as it flew through the area and struck the hard stone of the wall behind it.
The chanting continued for a few more seconds, ending with a sickening tearing noise and the smell of brimstone filling the air. Two hellish looking dogs stepped through small tears in the fabric of the air itself. Their fur was tinged with red and smoked slightly with the remnant ais of whatever hell they had been summoned from. One of them appeared at Tania's feet and the other at Idrian's. Apparently the Quasit didn't enjoy being targeted by the archers.
And for good reason, the moment the spell had completed, and just before the slavering hounds attacked, Tania unleashed her shot at the Quasit. The arrow flew straight and the oung bard was rewarded by a yelp of pain as her shot actually hit the invisible target. The arrow vanished the moment it struck the quasit, which meant it had finally sunk into the creature and hadn't fallen harmlessly to the ground.
However, with her shot completed the dogs attacked. Both animals went for the archers with their slavering mouths wide and hungry. (Tania's hits AC 18, for 2 damage. Idrian's hits AC 21 for 4 damage)
Ok, back to Everyone else. The dogs go on the same initiative as the Quasit. I rolled random squares for both shots since your perceptions were'nt high enough to spot the thing for sure. Idrian's was the wrong square but Tania's wasn't.
The Quasit has stopped chanting but may not be in the same location as it was when Tania hit it now. It had a move action left to it after completing teh summoning.

Tania Teg |

Tania's hard put as her sword and lonspear lay on the floor. She doesn't want to open herself to another of the hound's bite.
She rolls and ducks to move away from the hound's attack then prepares to fire at the fiend should he reappear. "By Calistria's sinful stepchild! Could use a hand here!"

DM Wrath |

Feldspar swung with the weapon that now glowed in his hands. The hammer went wide of the target though, leaving the fiendish dog to menace Idrian.
Mikka ignored that threat, figuring both the half elf and dwarf were more than a match for such a creature. She moved forward to help support Tania.
Jo'no also went to his friends aid, summoning forth a magical bolt from his wand and smashing into the hounds side. The creature yepled in pain but failed to dematerilise.
Algus raised his crossbow, unwilling to through another bomb since hey had proved so innefective to date. Th weapon twanged as the tension was released, sending the bolt into the dogs chest and causing it fade away in a swirl of red mist and sulphur.
Idrian dropped his weapon, taking his greatswod instead and cleaving it through the dog that assaulted him. His single blow with the heavy weapon was more than enough to destroy the magics that had brought it here, and it too vanished.
A scream of frustration came from somehwere above the raised plinth at the back of the room and again the sound of chanting could be heard. This time it was much more focused and short, the spell completing in a bare few moments rather than the extended spell from previously. Again the quasit failed to materialise.
Tania dodged backwads a little, drawing her bow and trustin in her luck to find the target for she could find no true sign of the invisble foe. Again it paid off, the arrow thumping heavily into the Quasit and again causing it to curse.
Knowledge Arcane. DC21
Tania, you must have the luck of the dice gods with you in this fight. Yet another random roll that hit exactly. Note that the creature is taking far less damage than you are rolling though, since it has some formidable DR. Also, the dog was destroyed before you needed to make a tumble check.
Ok, everyone can post again. Feldspar, JoNo and Mikka are still to have this rounds actions. Tania and Idrian can post for next round.
