Good luck everyone! May your eidolons serve you well in the fight against (what the rune lords? I still haven't figured out the timeline to this game... I have tried to piece it together from the wiki but it just doesn't help without playing the AP's in order...)

I wish everyone the best of luck. Those of our number who make it will have a wonderful game ahead of them.

Lantern Lodge

I, Hu Xian, hereby submit myself to the College of Shadows under the sign of The Rabbit Prince.

Pending the personality section, I'll get that up tonight before midnight unless life intervenes.

I've added the following paragraph about Taeo's attitude toward death to the Personality section in his profile.

On death wrote:
Growing up as he did, Taeo feels like an outsider with both the fey and humanoid races. At present he identifies more with the fey. One clear division between him and the native First Worlders though was the realities of death: His fey caretakers, playmates, and tormentors couldn’t die permanently in the First World; they’d simply reform. Taeo on the other hand has the humanoid frailty normal to the material plane. This was driven home early on when some malicious gremlins tried to get him to dive off a cliff onto ragged rocks with them, “for the experience of it”. They shoved a pugwampi off and showed Taeo how it simply reformed. He was nervously ready to go along with them and barely saved in time by a faun who "spoiled the joke" and let him know that the trick wouldn’t work for him. Since then he knows that he can die -- permanently, assuming no great magical intervention -- and he thinks of it as a weakness of his, a defect of his humanoid ancestry.

I'm excited that the recruitment is drawing to a close. Robert, you really have your work cut out for you! Best of luck to all, and I look forward to seeing tomorrow who the final group will be.

You can do it!

I, Gobgob, hereby submit myself to the College of Shadows under the sign of The Idiot.

Good Job on making it!

I, Tivan Longacre, hereby submit myself to the College of Shadows under the sign of the Eclipse.

I think that's it. Good luck to everyone who submitted their characters - I don't envy the position of having to whittle this crop of applicants down to six. Here's hoping for the best and trying not to be too disappointed if I don't make the cut.

Dark Archive

I, Voranathel Aerenathin, hereby submit myself to the College of Shadows under the sign of The Foreign Trader.

My character

Sorry, I am new to the boards, but long time lurker. This sounds like a great game, and I couldn't quite get my alias created/selected correctly so a link is included above. And I'm down to the wire.

Indeed. Best of luck to everyone.

Crusty, glad you made it in under the wire. Gobgob would make an interesting classmate. ;0)

Ah, well. Kinda sucks I got too focused elsewhere the last week to expand my background or talk about my eidolan like I wanted, but so it goes! Best of luck to everyone. I look forward to seeing who gets picked.

Good luck all

And Jelani, you missed me on the list

I didn't add the last minute entries because they are all right there and should be easy to find. Last time I compiled your background wasn't done yet.

Yeah I had to do a ton of last minute writing (The entirity of his background, personality, and description were done in about an hour), though luckily I had done plenty of thinking on the goblin before-hand.

I look forward to making the seven personalities of his Eidolons.. each of them are going to be based around a different type of Sin - one for each of the spellbooks he consumed. Likely, his first one will be Gluttony.. then Greed. Hah! Its going to be Full Metal Alchemist all over again..

But with pyschotic midgets.

@Gobgob: Why do the little things from the Darkness comics come to mind when I think about all your little eidolons running around? Probably because your avatar reminds me of one of those things on the cover of the comic, but I can't help making the connection.

@Zanithane: Can't say I've read that comic.. sounds interesting though!

@Gobgob: I used to have a poster of this a couple of years back.

Ditto for Veshka. I *think* she had been finished, although draco hasn't posted to confirm that.

This is DM Mith'aj - Though my character was submitted above before the 11:59pm deadline, I just wanted to post with the alias I finally chose correctly for that character. Good luck to all.

Have to admit, I'm really looking forward to seeing this start, in or no. Best of luck to everyone.

Agreed, I'll be following the adventure, regardless.

Hey all, just checking in! I hate you all on fire for making so many amazing characters and making this decision so bloody hard. I've almost got a final list picked out, and you should see the final roster tonight, at which point I'll get the gameplay and discussion threads up.

Seriously, these characters. I'm really impressed and overwhelmed by the turnout!

Well this is a very obscure game and we wanted to bring our best work to get into it. Good luck to all who make it and I'm with Voranathel on this one. It looks very interesting and I wish to watch it grow.

I'm really impressed with the premise and setup! :D
Looking forward to seeing the roster. Looking at your options, it will be a fantastic crew!

Wow, that is dark Rob. Dark...

Rob, Dark? Nonsense!

Heh.. except that one time where he blew up a prisoner with a hidden keg of gunpowder, showering chunks of meat everywhere in the snow. Good times.. good times..

Totally joking, of course. Heck, all of Ruins of Pathfinder is a dark setting :P Which is why its so awesome!

Okay, this was murder to decide but I have chosen sixeight characters. I had to expand out a little, I just couldn't pick only six!

To those who made it in, you made my job very hard! Head over to the discussion thread and take a look at the information there.

To those who didn't make it, you also made my job very hard. I was impressed by all of you and struggled on picking the final sixeight. Hopefully in the future when I recruit for new campaigns I'll see you there!

Grats to those who got in!

I honestly didn't think Gobgob was going to make it, so I'm in no way surprised.. he's just a little too insane, even for my usual insanity-driven characters. All is well, though, considering I'm already in two of Rob's campaigns, not to mention my own Ruins of Pathfinder campaign.

That being said.. I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on this one, see how it goes.

Congratulations to the chosen. That was quite stiff competition. I will be stalking the game play thread with quite some interest.

Awww, bummer. Ah well I guess I was being a bit greedy. Have fun guys

Well I started having doubts after Shen Hua was made and my suspicions were correct... Didn't want my negative feelings to be shown though as things like that haven't worked for me in the past.

Congrats to everybody who made it in, have a good adventure!

Congrats to those who made it. I'm a little sad Cassie didn't make it but there was some extremely tough competition. I still made a character I love. I plan to keep an eye on this campaign as it unfolds.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if I'm an example for something.

I'm sorry for everyone that didn't make it. All of our characters have a little bit of us in them and it's always difficult to keep it impersonal.

Best of luck in the games you are playing. 8)

This is Rob's third campaign he's got up.. I'm sure he'll make more! :D

That.. or perhaps I shall.. muahahahaha

Congratulations to the new students!
Have fun all

Not your fault, it was just that when you applied there were so many people who had signed up and I started feeling that my submission was on the weak side. Just like my parents told me when I was getting angry at League of Legends: "Its their job to win just as much as it is for you."

I have since left the game because it pisses me off too much because I'm unskilled and am always on the losing team.

Congratulations to everyone that made it in - I suspected I wasn't going to make it with the quality and quantity of submissions, but I enjoyed the exercise.

Thanks for considering me!

@Shenhua: You did absolutely nothing wrong. I've seen a great number of character submissions for a great number of online games. Never have I seen anyone go to the lengths you did to develop your character pamphlet (because calling it a sheet would be as great a disservice as calling a trip circumnavigating the globe "a short voyage"). If you didn't get in, I would be calling shenanigans.

You know.. even though I didn't get in this particular campaign.. its still fun thinking of the interconnected world that Ruins of Pathfinder is. Somewhere in this world.. Marcellano is grumbling about the cold weather, Dr. Logem is experimenting on someone, and all of the other players of The Quest for Arcadia and Reign of Winter are doing their thing.

Those in Road to Damnation, meanwhile.. who knows, considering the events of that campaign are happening at least year and a half, possibly two years, before this, and I don't yet have a definite timeline set up.

Four Campaigns set in Ruins of Pathfinder... four groups of people, all interconnected. Perhaps the events of one campaign will end up being heard in the others. Well, one definitely will, as those Reign of Winter are the ones who will impact the setting the most, should we fail or succeed.

"Failure's not an option soldier!"

let's hope, right?

There is only one way to become skilled at something and that is to fail repeatedly. Talent is when someone is good at something in the beginning, and it rarely takes them very far. After that, you practice, but you don't really learn much from winning. Eventually, you reach a point where you hit your best effort and that's where you sit. If you want to get better after that point, you have to go back, unlearn your mistakes, and start building again.

Tiger Woods did it a few years ago when he started losing golf tournaments. He was changing the way he played golf because he'd stagnated. I'm sure he'll play better than ever once he finishes building the new skill set.

My packets take less time to make than the writing in them and if the writing were bad, I would not get accepted. I have been writing in one form or another for thirty years, about twenty of them in advertising. I failed to achieve my goals many times, and learned from each.

Don't quit LOL if you enjoy it and simply lose. Rather, ask yourself, why do I dislike losing so much that I don't learn from my mistakes and get better?
