Sehskinari was born into a life of wealth and privelege. Her mother, Resavaati rules one of the 25 territories of Nagajor. Her position there is unique, in that she was not born into the Lunar Naga form she now posseses, but ascended to that state through devotion to Nalinivata, and pursuit of the mysteries of an ancient Nagaji Druidic sect.
Sehskinari was the first to hatch from Resavaati's first clutch, which--combined with her striking appearance and having inherited some of her mother's abilities--has earned her a position of honor, and her mother's ambition that she will one day follow in her footsteps.
For the young Nagaji however that has always seemed a long way off. She has reveled in her position of power over the nagaji who serve her mother, and her siblings in particular—Resavaati has certainly had no shortage of willing mates—have been subjected to the selfish princesses' domineering personality. One in particular seems to have resolved himself to his fate, seeking her favour more ardently—or so Sehskinari has assumed; she remains distant from her admiring brother, knowing only that he is more swiftly obedient and helpful—and she has mercilessly exploited his subservience whenever the opportunity presents itself, taking much pleasure in setting impossible tasks and watching him fail.
That is not to say that Sehskinari is completely immoral, simply deeply self centred. The only person besides her mother she seems to care about is one of her uncles, Iltame a wandering priest of Desna whose travels have carried him even accross the crown of the world to distant Avistan. It is he who can reduce the arrogant princess into just another little girl with the stories of the lands he has visited, the people he has met, and the things he has seen. Whenever he returns to the lands of his birth he is instantly set upon by his enthusiastic niece until he agrees to share his latest tales and recount her favourite stories. She even deigns to allow him to share his stories with her siblings and other curious members of his sister's serpentine court.
It is from these stories—wondrous as her uncle makes them seem—that her discontent began to grow. As she progressed towards adolesence, and her mother's attempts to groom her into a future naga matriach became more onerous she grew discontent with her life of luxury and idleness. It was as the dark weight of responsibility started to settle more heavily upon her that a strange woman appeared in their territory. Stories around court said that she was looking for students with the spark of arcane potential to study at her distant school. Her mother had the woman brought before her and asked her to assess her children, curious as to the woman's abilities, and always eager for signs of arcane gifts amongst her numerous offspring. Surprisingly it was Sehskinari that the woman called for, and the audacity of the woman shocked the girl into obediently participating in her examinations. Resavaati was thrilled when Hokuto Ichihara announced that Sehskinari had the potential of a great summoner; of course she would not allow her precious heir to travel to the other side of the world, but she entertained the woman for several days trying to extract more information from her about how to unlock her daughter's potential. Despite lavish gifts she learned little, but it did give Seshkinari the chance she needed to begin her own preparations. When her mother finally allowed Hokuto to leave Seshkinari did likewise, slipping out to follow after and catch up with the woman.
