Lightning flashes overhead, but the boom of the thunder which soon follows is drowned out by the gale-force winds whipping the ship back and forth. As you attempt to get to the cabins below you momentarily look up at Paracount Dominicus Avranxiwho is still holding desperately onto the ship's wheel, shouting some inaudible order to those by him. You finally reach the door even as you are almost blown right off the side of the ship, only barely catching yourself.
You take a step down the stairs at the very moment another blast of wind rocks the boat, causing you to slip on the floorboards and tumble downwards. As your head slams against wood, the black embrace of sleep consumes you and whisks you away from the troubles of the tangible world around you.
Why was Gozreh so intent on sinking this ship? That is a question perhaps only the other gods could answer.
Hello everyone! I've lurked on this forum for quite some time, and have played many Pathfinder campaigns in the past, having run a few myself, and found that I wanted to run something for you lovely people here!
This game takes place within Golarion, and I'm sure you've noticed by now that I intend it to be on the continent of Arcadia. For the most part, I will be following the canon of Golarion, but I want you to cast about EVERYTHING you may know about Arcadia (which granted, may not be much). I'm going to reinvent it in my own vision. I want you to assume this when building your characters: Arcadia for the rest of Golarion should be as mythical and mysterious as Atlantis in our world. We don't know anything about it, and many people would have doubted its existence altogether.
So, onto character creation!
Obviously the ship never did make it to Varisia.
I am fine with any race/class combination if and only if any 'strange' choices can be logically explained within your background. For example, I might raise an eyebrow if you decided to play a drow ranger specializing in two-weapon fighting... but if your story is awesome, I'll allow it.
I'm fine with any alignment except for Neutral Evil, and Chaotic Evil, but I do have the rule of not screwing the party.
One thing to note. This game will have a good little mix of exploration/adventure and town building/social situations.
Right on, let's see if we can't get some interest! I'll be taking 4-6 people depending on what looks like a good party.

CampinCarl9127 |

Dotting for interest. I've never seen a campaign idea in Arcadia, could be very interesting.
I'm thinking of bringing my strix fighter on board for this one. It's a concept I've been trying to get off the ground for a while (ha!) and I think a more exotic campaign would fit him.
I do have two questions though. Do you plan on using maps for combat?
Also, I see you are very new to the boards. There's no problem with that, but a lot of new people soon discover that their daily lives get in the way of posting. What kind of posting rate should be expected/required of you and your players?

Molly Narr |

Oh, no need to worry about my posting rate ^_^. I'm new to the board as far as signing up goes, but have been lurking for some three years now. You'll expect me to post at the very least once per day but in truth, I'm on the boards a lot more frequently than that (always good to look at different discussions on different play styles). I expect at least that from my players. One post per day, though I would certainly be pleased if someone could put more time into that.
As for maps, for the most part, I will not be using them. Perhaps if there is a lot going on at once such as a multitude of enemies, or weird terrain effects... but I trust my players enough to trust that nothing crazy will happen by going off of a grid.

CampinCarl9127 |

That's very good to hear. I'll start working on a concept now.
I think I'm going to shy away from my strix fighter if there aren't going to be maps. A flying reach build that's focused on positioning doesn't do well without in-depth tactics.
Are there any sort of story elements we should be expecting? I know it starts off on a boat, is there going to be a lot of naval time? Or perhaps working with a resistance group? Or is it all a mystery? Just trying to get a better feel for things.

Molly Narr |

I can say that there is certainly going to be some naval time in the beginning and depending on how you wish to explore (land or sea) Arcadia, it might show up later as well. There certainly is an overarcing plot that I have in mind, though have the game setup so that you could approach it at your own pace.
I can say for certain that the most common types of creatures you'll be meeting are animals (at least at first), monsterous humanoids, and aberrations.
Edit:
Yes we are going to be starting at level one.

Demon Lurking |

Ok, you caught my interest. Let's roll the dice and see what I can shake out of the chargen tree.
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 4) = 13 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 2) = 18 16
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 6, 1) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 2, 5) = 11 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 1) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 6) = 18 15
Ok, so the equivalent of 15 point buy. I'll see what I can do with that.

Ashling_Frost-wing |

Going to use Magus, i have an idea floating around in my head the gear be turning and all.
gonna take a bit to finish the mechanics but here's the backstory
I wasn't always like this you know... I used to have a family...A mom, dad, and older brother. My parents were killed in front of me...by my brother. I don't know why, he just went insane. It was then that i just stopped caring about everything.
Emotions are confusing, he's my older brother i should love him but he's a murderer so i should hate him. it was all too confusing. I was alone, my brother disappeared. I spent most of my time alone, I was bored. i felt barely anything no matter what i did. I became a
killer for hire, the problem with the job is normally emotional struggle, people being unable to cope with stress of murder...not me i couldn't feel or at the very least i didn't care anymore.
Hatred...It's one of the few emotions i still feel. I did my research, I found big brother went back to drinking blood... he was addicted, it was the magic in the blood. He hated demons so much, he resorted to it to make himself stronger. I blamed them, if they didn't exist my life would never have changed.
I've been called reckless by some of the few team's I've worked with before...I would run into combat without fear...I know it's stupid but sometimes i hope that if i keep doing it, eventually i will start feeling fear. Hoping to feel scared,It's odd.
Morality has always been an interesting subject when it comes up, law and chaos, well i hate them both. Chaos represents destruction and their forces but their are other things just as evil. Good and evil are simple, i prefer good. They are easy to predict, the money is clean, and well not to sound like a broken record but I get to kill monster. Evil is messy, to close to things I don't like to think about so unless the benefit is up to my standards i stay away.
"I put up a front so the world will see how vulnerable i'm not, it scares people to see someone with no emotional weaknesses...everyone else, they can connect with other humans beings easily...for me it's the hardest thing in the world. I'm not like you people, the rush doesn't happen for me normally. To get even the slightest rush i have to take chances, what you call recklessness I call trying to find a reason for my existence." The joyful facade i had gotten used to disappeared, replace with one hollow and sad. I watched as she turned away from me, she grabbed a cloth and wiped the blood from her kill off the blade.
Ashling is a reckless emotionally stunted thrill seeker. The trauma of seeing her brother go insane and her parents murdered in front of her drove her to be detached and emotionally distant. She constantly seeks and performs insane acrobatic stunts to alleviate the boredom. Working as a legal assassin for hire mercenary type. She carries a blade, it's ice blue and her main weapon she calls Crystal thorn.
she also carries an abundance of knives storing some hidden away.
White hair, violet Eyes, pale skin, wears a dark purple hooded cloak and black studded leather armor, 5'6 relatively skinny. Small and graceful, her eyes and hair color are genetic traits.

Molly Narr |

How long. That's certainly a hard one to predict. Honest answer: I have no idea. I will be granting experience to the party through combat and certain goals but as I have mentioned, the idea of this is that the campaign would be freeform to an extent. You can choose what to do given the options.
And now... anyone who rolls below a 15 point buy can instead USE a 15 point buy. Just so we can avoid people feeling useless.
EDIT: You can pick two traits. A drawback for a third is acceptable.
And you can use either summoner you want.

CampinCarl9127 |

Well that's all my questions for now. I'm going to get to the drawing board!
Stat: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 6) - 1 = 12
Stat: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 3) - 2 = 12
Stat: 4d6 - 2 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 3) - 2 = 12
Stat: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 5, 1, 6) - 1 = 15
Stat: 4d6 - 1 ⇒ (4, 1, 2, 5) - 1 = 11
16, 12, 12, 12, 15, 11
Hmm, quite a bit to work with there. I'll be back later with my idea.

CampinCarl9127 |

Oh I know exactly who I want to play. A half-elf (drow-descended) brawler with a dark past and a pessimistic view of life. Trying to escape this world to start again is absolutely perfect for him. I'll get his stats adjusted to the character creation rules, but his background will only require some tweaking. I'm excited to have a chance to bring Kienyach to the table again!

![]() |

Interested. Gotta see my rolls to figure out what kinds of ideas might work.
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 5) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 5, 6) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 3) = 9
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 5) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 2) = 17
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 1) = 14
13, 15, 8, 11, 15, 13
Yes, my first thought will probably work. Am thinking about a wanabe Hellknight Signifier who ended up in the service of the Paracount instead. This probably means either a Magus, or a less optimized character that multiclasses between wizard and fighter.

Molly Narr |

A question was asked concerning the Paracount, so here is a bit of information on him:
He is also the cousin of the Lord-Mayor in Westcrown and has made it well known he is leaving because of his disagreements with his policies or associations with fiends.
I will be starting lets say... January 4th, shall we? I will be opening up the discussion thread at some point to get a bit of light roleplaying going beforehand
EDIT: GASP! I changed my messageboard name! I don't mind being called GM, but I do prefer Molly.

Robert Henry |

dotting, very curious, thinking melee or skilled, Molly are you ok with us working Paracount into our back story, family acquaintance or served with him? Or just may be part of the crew, I will think on it, lets see how the rolls go.
ability scores: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 3) = 13 12
ability scores: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 2) = 12 11
ability scores: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 5) = 13 12
ability scores: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 4) = 15 13
ability scores: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 6) = 14 12
ability scores: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 5) = 14 13
well a 13 point buy or a 15, yuck, let me see what I can come up with.
edit: any possibilities we can use Character Backgrounds to add a little fluff?

CampinCarl9127 |

I have returned with Kienyach completed and ready for review. I always appreciate feedback!

Green Smashomancer |

I have returned with Kienyach completed and ready for review. I always appreciate feedback!
I think Keinyach will hate my Summoner Akkad in the best possible way, Akkad being a well-off half elf with a superiority complex. Also, Kein seems to have reversed the letters in his name at random, going from "Zov" to "Voz."
I like him though, I can see a gritty fantasy boxing movie being made about him.
I'll need to write up Akkad soon.

Lost 33 |

If it's not too late, I'm interested. Not to sure on a concept yet, but gonna roll and try to have one spun up later today.
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2, 5) = 15 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 2) = 11 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 5) = 18 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 2) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 5) = 17 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 2, 2) = 7 5 (ouch)
Well, since it seems to be theme in the rolls, I'll bump that 5 up to a 9 to make it a 15 pt buy.
16, 14, 13, 9, 9, 9 (15 pt buy)

Ashling_Frost-wing |

Why am i here ? I had to ask myself as I arrived in Westcrown. Was it The rumors i had heard of a series of murders going on in a nearby town? People, drained of their blood, dead. I thought it could be him, big brother Tristan. I stayed in town for a few days investigating, when i was visited by a man claiming to work for the lord mayor. I was told they had a job for me, in exchange i would receive payment in the form of assistance in capturing the murderer i was looking for. I was to do away with a man by the name of Dominicus Avranxi. I was a job like any other, even if he was a good man, regardless i had my own missions. I followed him, did my research. That lead me on board a boat, he was leaving and I followed. Keeping myself an unknown, to everyone there i was just a quiet little girl.
Small addition to the backstory, connection Ashling to the campaign.

Dragonflyer1243 |

4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 3) = 1513
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 5) = 1714
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3, 4) = 1613
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 5) = 1413
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 5) = 1614
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 3) = 76
This is a bit below 15 points, so I'll take the point buy so that I don't have to build a character who's crippled in one aspect or another. Regardless, I'm very interested!

Molly Narr |

Hah. I'm amazed so many rolled under the point buy option. Looks lime since most people are usimg a 15 point buy, it would be pretty balanced when I end up choosing.
Sorry for the lack of updates today. It is Christmas and all. I'll compile a list a bit later organizing everyone... and perhaps also open up the discussion tab.

Howdy Molly!
Going to apply with Nicholas "Nick" Hassel, paladin of Erastil.
Stats!: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4, 1) = 134d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 6) = 224d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 6, 3) = 154d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 5) = 134d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 4) = 184d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 2) = 16
Son of a family of merchants, Nicholas Hassel was going to be the next to run his father's hunting bussiness. But Nicholas heard the calling.
Distressed by his future, Nicholas tried to find comfort in the teachings of the local priest to no avail. One day a humble but intriguing man came to town looking to sell skins from his hunting.
Nicholas found something about him awe inspiring, and stroke a convertation with the man.
Reynolds, as he liked to be called, told Nicholas about the way of Erastil, about the comfort of living a simpler life, about the peace of mind from helping his community. About the ways of Old Deadeye.
Reynolds went back to his home, but what he told Nicholas left a deep scar in his mind.
For the next few weeks he couldn't think about anything other than the humble man and his peace of mind. Until one day he told his parents that he was leaving to look for his place in the world, to find his community.
At first they were sad and angered by Nick's decission but finally they understood that if he stayed there, he never would be anything other than a carcass, a man without a goal.
And so they let him leave with a parting gift and wishing for his safety.
But how ended Nicholas in a ship with the Paracount wading through the waves to the greatest adventure of his live? Well, that's a a story for another time and another place, let's just say that a Paladin can know another. When the Paramount heard what Nicholas' calling was he understood that he could do a lot of good in Arcadia.
Name: Nicholas "Nick" Hassel
Race: Male, Human

Here is my submission for the game. I will make an alias if accepted into the game.
Favarius Wardroxan, Fighter, aspiring Eldritch Knight (or Hellknight Signifier).
Favarius Wardroxan is born and raised in Westcrown, the son of a priestess of Abadar and a retired Hellknight. He's a proud Chelaxian, although in recent years he's started to question whether the infernal alliance that Cheliax has made is really a good idea. He's always idolized the Hellknights, seeing them as heroes who help to preserve order in the face of dangerous criminal elements, and from childhood he wanted to be come a Hellknight like his father.
Favarius started practicing with a sword and armor when he was an adolescent, again hoping that he would one day be accepted into the Hellknights. However, he also discovered that he had a keen mind and was attracted to magic. Because of this, he aspired to one day become a Hellknight Signifier, accepted into one of the ranks of the Hellknights, and eventually using magic to help them promote their mission of order.
As an adult, trained as a journeyman fighter, capable of using a bastard sword to good effect, Favarius joined the retinue of Paracount Dominicus Avranxi. Serving as a household guard to the former Hellknight (who parted, he is lead to understand, on good terms), he thought he might earn a recommendation that would one day help him join one of the Hellknight orders. However, now Paracount Avranxi has decided to leave Westcrown. And, with the questioning of Cheliax's Infernal alliance that Favarius has found himself doing, he's not so sure he regrets leaving Westcrown. (He finds Westcrown, with its abandoned sectors, depressing anyway; it's clearly a city in decline!) This may mean that he will never have the opportunity to become a Hellknight, and he feels great regret at this. Still, he's looking forward to the adventure that traveling with Paracount Avranxi will bring.
Or, at least he was, until he found himself blacking out in a shipwreck....
Favarius looks the part of the Chelaxian warrior. He dresses in black, and wears a red cloak. His face is pale and narrow, as is the case with many of his countrymen. Hewears his black hair shoulder length.
Favarius always wanted to be a Hellknight Signifier...but know he knows that may not be in the cards. Still, he greatly values order and civilization, and wherever he goes he will want to either find a place where law is strong, or help build such a place.
Mechanically, you can find his plans on the "Level Plan" of the full character sheet, linked from the top of this post. If the game goes for a long time, he'd do three levels of Fighter, followed by five levels of Wizard (assuming that the story makes sense for him to be able to start studying magic), followed by either Eldritch Knight or Hellknight Signifier, depending on whether or not there's even the opportunity for the latter. (In this game, I'm guessing probably not.)
