So 3 minutes later when the guard comes you tell them to fan out and look for a tribal guy about this tall? That is a fairly big search radius and the description might get false positives. Also it is not like they have walky talkys.
Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8
lol. Yes. Only with more detail.
Well for whatever reason the guard can't find him.
Male Human Bard 4
But we've been lead out of town by our super tracker right? We're hot on the guys trail.
Yes. And now you are going back into town. arn't I a stinker

Everyone but Rory, but you arn't in combat yet so the others can point it out.
Male Human Bard 4
And i can assume they point it out to me?
Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8
Is the wolf within 140 feet? If so, Riva attempts to blind it. If not, she gives chase and attempts to blind it. If it works, it can only move at half speed, giving us a chance to catch it.

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8
So Adular gets a surprise round action too, right? Then we progress to turn 1, with Mallichatti starting? You never stated what the DC was for those Perception checks, so we don't really know who gets to act in the surprise round.
Round 1 Actions

Surprise round action "Gorum encase me in thy blades," Adular mutters
Quote: Gorum's Armor spell: The targeted suit of armor or shield sprouts thousands of tiny iron spikes like porcupine quills. These do not harm the armor’s wearer (though donning or removing armor under the effects of this spell takes twice as long), but they act as armor spikes or shield spikes (as appropriate). Any creature attacking the wearer with natural weapons takes 1 point of piercing damage for each attack that hits. At 5th level, the spikes gain a +1 enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls; this bonus increases to +2 at 10th level. At 15th level, the spikes also gain the anarchic weapon quality. Round 1 Adular strides forward by riva's side, and when the wolf charges her, he swings his blade.

Male Human Bard 4
since he's a werewolf, does that mean he has an int over 2? since his base form is human, would he still get a bonus to saves against my hideous laughter? Would i even know this tuff?
Normally hideous laughter would work normally against a werewolf. However this a sort of special case. You are free to try it. I'll tell you the ruling afterwards.

In my games, I generally don't let people do it while flat-footed at the start of a fight though (or any other time you are prohibited from taking actions).

Alright we have a few questions of background before we start.
What happened to the Mites?
What is the disposition of the Kobolds? Who is in charge?
What are the terms of the treaty between the Mites and the Kobolds talked about before.
Did you explore all the hexes before taking out the bandits?
Also where do you want to start your new kingdom? (I suggest the stag lords old fort good strategic position that give +1 to all kingdom stats)
What do you want to name the kingdom?
What roles does everyone want in the kingdom?

Powergaming DM wrote: What are the terms of the treaty between the Mites and the Kobolds talked about before. What mites? They're gone. We offered the kobolds citizenship within our burgeoning nation, provided they follow the laws we set forth. To cement this alliance, we offered a council position to their Chief.
Powergaming DM wrote: Did you explore all the hexes before taking out the bandits? Not quite. Nearly all hexes were explored afterwards, since we blundered into their camp early and nearly died.
Powergaming DM wrote: Also where do you want to start your new kingdom? The hex south of the lake where three rivers meet. Since they stream in East, West, and South, the rivers will help a great deal with trade and getting supplies to other hexes. If we build our kingdom between rivers, we can also use them as natural defenses against any neighbors who may decide to attack us.
The broken castle would also make for a nice start. One less river direction, but hey, it's a castle.
Powergaming DM wrote: What do you want to name the kingdom? Bergenhagen
This is what my gaming group did when we played the first module. It does not necessarily have to have any bearing at all on what we decide here as a group.
EDIT: I see you added more questions.
Powergaming DM wrote: What roles does everyone want in the kingdom? I think Riva would be well suited as the kingdom's Magister.

Male Human Bard 4
1. Exposed they were pawns, told them they can go about their business so long as they swear fealty to the group and not single out the Sootscales like they've been. Most decided to fight than live under these rules and were dealt with.
2. Tartuk is dead having exposed his actions in driving the war between the Sootscales and Mites. Chief Sootscale is in charge of his kobolds but they must answer to the group. They agree and dub me Scalefriend as I strove hard for peace between the two bodies.
3. More or less to keep out of each others affairs. The Mites are to not single out the Sootscales for their "pranks" and the Kobolds are to avoid the Old Sycamore.
4. About half of the swamps were cleared as well as the mite/kobold war before taking on the bandits, much of the rest was explored afterwards.
5. It seems practical to build on top of what the Stag Lord had. It just seems wasteful to let it go to waste.
6. No idea. How about since this area is technically part of The River Kingdoms, why not Caerulus? It's latin for river... Sometime's I'm lazy with names...

Male Elf Paladin-3
All of the below just my view and I'm happy to compromise on just about anything :)
Powergaming DM wrote: Alright we have a few questions of background before we start.
What happened to the Mites?
PURGED like the vermin they are!
Quote:
What is the disposition of the Kobolds? Who is in charge?
With Tartuk's death, Sootscale leads as Chief once more, but having seen our power, he has agreed to be 'an ally' even going so far as to allow Kobolds to worship Gorum if they wish to. The party are also allowed to wander through kobold lands freely. The kobolds may even agree to be citizens of the new nation if given at least as much right as your average halfling :)
Quote:
What are the terms of the treaty between the Mites and the Kobolds talked about before.
The few surviving mites are probably in no condition to treat with anyone.
Quote:
Did you explore all the hexes before taking out the bandits?
Maybe not all, but at least 80% of it...the Temple of Erastil, the fae grove, and other locations were definitely uncovered.
Quote:
Also where do you want to start your new kingdom? (I suggest the stag lords old fort good strategic position that give +1 to all kingdom stats)
The Stag Lord's fort is defensible, and what's more 'the victor's spoils'. So that would be fine. Adular will be happy to help set up some siege engines to protect it.
Quote:
What do you want to name the kingdom?
Adular votes for Gor-dwell, to honor his god! However, he will easily back down on the name especially if he gets input on symbols for the kingdom or can at least use the name for a future town/city in it.
:)
Quote:
What roles does everyone want in the kingdom?
Adular would want to be High Priest, and while he does not seek a theocracy, he would definitely push for Gorum to be top god, or barring that, one of the favored that is heavily promoted among the populace.
If denied High Priest position, Adular might be tempted by General though stat wise he'd make a better Marshall
I should add that I have no interest in actual rulership for Adular and am happy to assume that whoever does end up as our ruler has earned his respect
One more question.
There are other roles for running a Kingdom which NPC's would you nominate for them?

Male Human
I had a very similar experience with the mites. We discovered that they were making torturous implements and we pretty much burned down their tree. We brought the statue to Chief Sootscale, and killed the kobold shaman who was using the statue to control the tribe; the shaman's journal revealed that the curse was a lie, and that the shaman himself was a reincarnated gnome. We left Sootscale in charge, and actually managed to convince them to be a distraction when we assaulted the smaller bandit camp held by the bandit woman (don't recall her name).
We explored most of the eastern area, and pushed out west just a little past the Thorn River (as far as the temple of Erastil with the cursed bear).
Eldric would likely suggest that we start the kingdom at the Stag Lord's base. The fact that it is so close to water, and has a tactically sound position due to the lake to the south, makes it a strong choice for a base. There's also wood for building a short bit away.
Kingdom name: Stalor, a sort of corruption of the name Stag Lord. Maybe it'll make bandits think twice before attacking.
Although Eldric will probably ask for the position of Treasurer (a bad idea, as anyone who has known him for more than a day will know), he'd be best suited for Marshal, Royal Enforcer, or Spymaster. Of the three, I'd personally prefer Spymaster.

This is how it went down in our game:
Crestle (Warden)
Jhod Kavken (High Priest)
Kesten Gares (General)
Oleg Leveton (Treasurer)
Svetlana Leveton (Councilor)
Tartuk the Kobold (Magister)

Anwsers I seem to have gotten.
What happened to the Mites?
There are not mites anymore
What is the disposition of the Kobolds? Who is in charge?
Chief Sootscale is in charge by beholden to the PC's
What are the terms of the treaty between the Mites and the Kobolds talked about before?
What treaty I told there are no mites.
Did you explore all the hexes before taking out the bandits?
We explored it all, but after the bandits
Also where do you want to start your new kingdom?
Stag lord's old fort
What do you want to name the kingdom?
No two votes alike which ever two of you can agree first gets the name
What roles does everyone want in the kingdom?
Riva Magister, Adular High Priest, Eldric Lorren Spy Master
There are other roles for running a Kingdom which NPC's would you nominate for them?
Oleg Leveton was named for treasurer, but he does not want to leave his outpost and Svetlana Leveton wont leave her husband. The others might work besides Tartuk because he's dead. Chief Sootscale is going to want a position. In fact he demands one!
Male Human Bard 4
Didn't notice the extra question. Rory wants to be king to prove to his father he is not a stain on his family's name but will settle for any of the more diplomatic roles like Councilor or Grand Diplomat.
As for what NPCs I nominate for which role, the suggest bit seems to be fine for me.
Male Human
I think that Akiros would make for a good Warden (he's a barbarian, iirc), although he might be well-suited for General as well, seeing as how he used to be a paladin. It might be interesting to try to get him back on the straight-and-narrow.
Oleg would work well for a Treasurer, and Svetlana for a Councilor.
Do we trust Sootscale enough to put him in a position of power? At the very least, he might make a decent Marshal in order to secure the area around the kingdom, and we can always replace him at a later date if need be.
Male Human Bard 4
I second Marshal for Sootscale. The tribe refer to me as Scalefriend and will work well with us, especially if I'm appointed to a high position in the kingdom. Giving Sootscale a position in the kingdom will help cement a peace between us and the Kobolds and lessen any chance of trouble between the groups.

Here's what I have down so far. Let me know if there are any other NPCs that should be in there (since Oleg and Svetlana refused, they are not listed), or if I should shuffle them around somehow. Jhod could potentially work as Treasurer, for example, given that he is a cleric and likely has high Wisdom. Then again, I'm not sure how much sense it makes to put a cleric of Erastil in a position that doesn't really follow the "simple life" aspect of the deity.
EDIT: Obviously, Consort, Heir and Viceroy won't be necessary for a while yet. That is, unless Rory has been extremely good at hiding his personal affairs.
No Jhod would not like to become treasurer. He plans to work at renovating the temple to Erastil.
Also Oleg and Svetlana are gaining quite a following among the trappers in the North. Business is booming.
Male Human Bard 4
yeah, i think that's really it for now. I think we meet some more NPCs that can fill some of those roles in pt. 2 of Kingmaker but we haven't met them yet.

@ Eldric - Not yet. Rory's still young though he is a bit of a flirt. This new found responsibility of running a kingdom with you guys might sober him up a bit though.
@ DM - Can't we let Oleg run his own town then centered on his trading post? I think i remember that being an option. That may be the best option for them.

I'm perfectly cool with Rory being Ruler and Adular might be as well... despite the guy being a bastard where Adular is a trueborn (Garess family) ;)
As for NPCs, I'm not sure. Technically I gave Adular quite a few siblings that could be expanded on if they were invited, but that would require DM approval and I can see others being shy of it for fear of a 'Garess takeover' :)
Male Human Bard 4
The only family that Rory has that he knows about is his father who's pretty much disowned him now and his sister... who were both in love with each other before finding out they were related. Needless to say, Rory doesn't exactly have the best of family to turn to for help filling roles.
Male Human
I'd be fine with Caerulus for the city name.
Adular, if you get Powergamer's permission, I wouldn't mind a few more Garesses. That said, if there are indeed other suitable NPCs in the 2nd book, it may be just as well to wait it out.
It's quicker to call me DM and frankly an honor.

Just in case that does not work, here's Eldric's.
Some problems Jhod Kavken does not believe that he would make a good Councilor. Or that he is worthy to represent the people. He will need a DC 14 diplomacy check to convince him.
I know but getting people to accept power is always a fairly easy sell
Kesten is a bit harder sell on making general because he is not that friendly with the PC's. Also he would rather be Warden.
DC 17 diplomacy to convince him
Akiros does not feel worth of being Warden and would rather be general were he can stay away from the stag lords old fort. Too many bad memories.
DC 19 diplomacy to convince him
Sootscale would much rather be Spy master or King.

Adular, if you get Powergamer's permission, I wouldn't mind a few more Garesses. That said, if there are indeed other suitable NPCs in the 2nd book, it may be just as well to wait it out.
In that case, let me ask...
DM? Do you want to use Adular's siblings as NPCs for this kingdom? He's got two brothers and three sisters.

I like Caerulus.

GM, you should know that, that Excel sheet is somewhat dated. If you are using the new and improved Kingdom rules from Ultimate Campaign, it may be ill suited--that is, unless you know how to edit the inputs, calculations, and other "behind the scenes" type stuff.

I'll take care of the roles to convince the people.
I try to convince Jhod, explaining that the kingdom is nothing more than a large family and that no one better a cleric of Councilor can represent our new family. (Would i get a circumstance bonus for also being a follower of Erastil?)
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
As for Kesten and Akiros, I'm ok with switching them, but that still leaves something for Sootscale. Though I'll explain to him that I, his Scalefriend, was the one chosen to lead this new nation. (this check is for explaining to Sootscale that he can't be king)
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30

As far as the Excell stuff, if you could add 'Garess' onto Adular's name there, I'd appreciate it. I tend to avoid last names in the profiles so I can recycle them but he does have one :)
I would rather his brothers and sisters come later after they hear of his success.
Sootscale is finally convince that being king is the boring work and that is more like being the PR guy. Sootscale decides he would much rather be spymaster and be sneaky.

I think it would be cool for Rory's sister to come as an emissary or something once Caerulus becomes more renowned. I think that would be a fun bit of awkward roleplaying for him. hint hint nudge nudge.

Rory, what are your skill ranks? (I ask 'cause I'm putting a nice neat little sheet together for you and I don't care to reverse engineer everything.)

I don't. I remember someone said they had made an Ultimate campaign spread sheet I wonder if I can find it.

Guess you missed the link, it's alright. Here's my stats in all my skills that are above base ability.
Diplomacy +10, Intimidate +10, Knowledge (Local, Nobility, Geography) +9, Knowledge (History) +3, Linguistics +9, Perform (Oratory) +13, Spellcraft +9, Stealth +10, Use Magical Device +10
I also have Versatile Performance in Sing, which lets me substitute my Perform check for Bluff and Sense Motive.
Edit: Also there's my bardic knowledge which, along with a trait, gives me a +3 to all knowledge checks on top of all those. So i guess really it's +12 for local, nobility, geography; +6 for history; +5 for the rest.

That makes sense.

well I found the spread sheet just can't find how to copy it and make it visable to you all.

oh, sorry, misunderstood you. I put 4 ranks into all my trained skills and i get 10 a level for being a human bard with skilled learner. Anything else, and sorry again for being a smart ass.
What are you doing with the 10th skill point? I only count 9 skills.
Male Human Bard 4
lemme double check...Diplomacy, Intimidate, 3 knowledges, Linguistics, Perform, Spellcraft, Stealth, Use Magical Device. Did i forget to put one on my google doc?
Now I get eleven. Maybe my counter is not working.
Male Human Bard 4
1. Diplomacy
2. Intimidate
3. Knowledge Local
4. Knowledge Nobility
5. Knowledge Geography
6. Linguistics
7. Perform Oratory
8. Spellcraft
9. Stealth
10. Use Magical Device.
They all have 4 ranks each and will continue to get ranks. I dunno how they'll be affected if/when I take Noble Scion.

I think that Historian trait is a v3.5 trait, as it is referencing "bardic knowledge checks" which no longer exist. I'll just assume +1 to your knowledge: history for now.
Anyways, here's the sheet for Rory Ward. Hope you like it. If you have a different picture in mind, I'll be happy to switch it out. Let me know if anything looks amiss.
I'm happy to do other sheets for the other characters as well if you'll give me complete stats to work with.
Male Human Bard 4
I pulled it from d20pfsrd and thought it was legal. If DM wants me to grab a different trait instead I'll switch it out.
