Riva Sarjenka |
Riva marches out of the water with as much dignity as she can muster, dragging the capsized vessels behind her. Thoroughly soaked and furious, Riva glances at her friends before declaring in a tired, deadpan voice, "Let's rest here through the night. The beach here is a relaxing enough place now that something isn't trying to eat us. Besides, I'm getting hungry. In the morning, we will continue exploring."
Riva eyes the tortoise remains with a near hysterical gaze. After a moment of silence, she removes her life vest, and changes it into a tent.
"Start a fire."
Riva is low on spells and has no desire to put herself in further harm's way.
Rory Ward |
A fair starts up in the wood that Rory had arranged. "Way ahead of you," He says with a grin. "And now," he started and snapped his fingers and his clothes dried. He snapped his fingers a few more times until each of their clothes were dry. The more finer points of their armor would have to dry the old fashioned way.
Using presto to dry their clothes. Either by cleaning them or removing water from the fabrics one pound at a time.
Riva Sarjenka |
"That looks pretty grisly, Rory," says Riva, who appears to have suffered no injuries herself and looking nothing less like a poised tulip, dressed and ready to go to a formal ball.
"Tell me Abbott, do your faith's healers leave behind battle scars? I've heard some martial faiths do that as a form of honor or trophy hunting."
Rory may have some explaining to do should Selene see it.
Knowledge (religion) to guess the answer in advance: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Before turning in for the night, Riva cites an ancient Elvish poem in a voice magically enhanced to sound not unlike music:
"Vi dýr ennui nu Anor
Ned echuir lyth eriar
I yrn ethuiwar, nin nurar
Ar aew verin linnar."
"Ennas dû alfanui
A ferin 'irith gerir
I elenath, viriath fain,
Vi finnel gelfib dîn."
"Sí na veth bâden im derel
Vi dúath dofn tummen.
Atham meraid velig a tynd
Athan eryd bain beraidh"
"Or 'waith bain nura Anor
A panlû elin cuinar
Ú-pedithon 'i-aur gwann'
Egor nai îl 'namarië'."
Good night my friends.
In western lands beneath the Sun
In spring, flowers rise,
The trees bud, waters run,
And the merry little birds sing.
There it is cloudless night
And shuddering beeches hold
The starry host, the white jewels,
On their branching hair.
Here at my path's end I am lingering
In deep darkness buried.
Beyond towers strong and high
Beyond all mountains steep
Above all shadows rides the Sun
And stars always dwell.
I will not say 'The day is done'
Or to the stars 'farewell'.

I assume you are keeping watches. However nothing happens that night.
Next day exploring G39.
As you are traveling along you are set apon by wolfs lead by a Worg. The Worg howls "How dare you trespass on Howl-of-the-north-Wind territory"

I was operating under the assumption that no one was keeping watch.
The following morning, Riva turns the tent back into it's original any-tool form and helps to pack up the rest of the camp, including several Crackjaw steaks. She ties the boats to a nearby stump* and begins hiking northeast.
Entering hex G39 unless you guys want to go in a different direction for some reason. We may have to come back for the shell later, as it is likely too large and heavy to carry, or else send servants to retrieve it for us.
* Riva doesn't have rope. I'm hoping one of you guys do.
EDIT: Seems I'm a little behind.
*Wolves leap out*
"Huh? What's going on?"
Once Riva gathers he wits about her, she tries to identify the threat.
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 to identify the wolves and their abilities/weaknesses
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22 to identify the worg and its abilities/weaknesses
EDIT: Wow. I guess she's never seen a wolf before.
Riva Sarjenka |
Riva recalls some general information about worgs.
Worgs are oversized, evil, intelligent wolves often found dwelling amid goblins or other savage races. A typical worg has gray or black fur, stands 3 feet tall at the shoulder, and weighs 300 pounds.
Worgs hunt in packs, running down and surrounding their prey like common wolves, but their intelligence and ability to speak make them better at coordinating their attacks. They sometimes use one packmate as a decoy, pretending to be a humanoid calling for help in order to lure intelligent prey into an ambush. Worgs that travel with goblins often allow them to ride on their backs, but in such situations it is usually the worg that is the master, not the rider.
Though she knows what a wolf is, in this case, she mistakes the smaller wolves for weaker worgs, bullied into submission by the actual worg, whom she believes to be the alpha male.
On Riva's turn: "Be careful everyone! Worgs often travel with goblins. They may not be alone."
Rory Ward |
During my surprise round action I start Inspire Courage
As Rory and the others explored continued to explore some of the land around tuskwater, he noticed they were not alone. When he saw a lone warg bark a warning to them, he knew they had walked into a trap. Moving quickly, he works to inspire his allies.
"Don't worry guys, we're on dry land this time," Rory says with a grin.
+1 attack and damage all around!
Riva Sarjenka |
I might have recommended talking to them first, but I'm flat-footed and can't act yet. Also, I don't think an evil worg would listen to anything we have to say anyways. I say we kill the beast!
Riva Sarjenka |
hrm... maybe suggestion instead of inspire courage...
But we're not safe until he's dead. He'll come stalking us at night. Set to sacrifice our children to his monstrous appetite. He'll wreak havoc on our village if we let him wonder free! So it's time to take some action boys! XD
Powergaming DM |
two wolfs and Howl-of-the-north-Wind run up and gang up on Aldular. One wolf and the Howl-of-the-north-Wind are flanking. I think he is still flat-footed sense he has not acted yet.
flanking wolf attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
free trip attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
flanking Howl-of-the-north-Wind attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
free trip attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
wolf attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
free trip attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
The trip attack only happens if they hit with the main attack.
Powergaming DM |
You killed wolf2.
The 3rd wolf rushes in to flank as well your covered on 4 sides Edit: not wolf2 is dead.
flanking wolf attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
free trip attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Assuming its time for round 1, I'll post my action now.
Seeing the wolves swarm Adular he rushes to his side to help. "Focus on the Warg, if we can defeat him perhaps the rest will scatter!" Rory says and moves to flank the warg with Adular.
courageous flanking attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 think i'm doing the math right... normal 7 + 2 from flanking + 1 from courage
courageous damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Riva Sarjenka |
Riva quickly conjures a defensive shell about her then moves into the fray to prevent her friends from being flanked. "Are they not all worgs?" she yells as she places her back against Adular's, staff at the ready.
Cast shield, AC increases to 21.
I thought this might help things. DM, let me know if the positioning is not accurate. EDIT: Sorry, one too many wolves. Fixed now.
Riva Sarjenka |
I don't see any change
Yeah, forget about it. Onedrive is telling me that the file is uploaded and synced, but I'm still seeing the first version with five wolves. Either it's too delayed to be of much use here, or their service is just really messed up.
Adular |
Adular is dragged down, bloody and cursing, "Lovely! Fine, fine... maybe it's my destiny to be eaten by one thing or another, but if I must, I'm going down fighting! Course, if the rest of you would like... GET THIS THING OFF ME!"
To hit Howl of the North: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Dmg: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 3) + 4 = 13
Powergaming DM |
Aldular misses Howl of the North.
wolf3 takes advantage of Adular prone form
attack prone and flanking: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
edit:
roll to confirm crit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
I can't find any crit stuff in the wolf entry so it seems you got up lightly
Edit: thanks Riva. So you take 14 damage from that attack.
