Rory, how is your character's concentration check +11? Shouldn't it be +7? It also looks like you got the bonuses for Inspire Competence and Inspire Confidence reversed. And your hit points are a little low.
wait what? I thought Historian only gave a +1 to Knowledge (History) checks and a +1 to Bardic knowledge checks. Was I looking at the wrong trait? I'll go double check that.
There are no bardic knowledge checks in Pathfinder. Only bonuses to knowledge skills. A bardic knowledge check was an entirely different mechanic in D&D v3.5.
Nice sheet.
You may want to download it again. I keep having to fix small mistakes.
Ravingdork |
Nice one, Eldric. I hope he takes it.
My Concentration check is +11 because I took the combat caster feat for an extra +4. As for the trait. here is a link. It's apparently from the Legacy of Fire Campaign. Bardic Knowledge is a class feature for bards even in pathfinder.
Combat Casting is a situational modifier. It doesn't apply on all Concentration checks. I will make a note of it on the new sheet.
Bardic knowledge is a class feature in both editions, but they work very differently.

"You're a chief, yeah?" Eldric asks Sootscale. "See, bein' a spymaster's nothing like bein' a chief. A spy might need to hide himself in order to find information. Hide his face, his name. History doesn't remember the ones in the dark.
But the marshals? They get remembered, and they got quite a bit of power. They make sure that people follow the rules of the kingdom. Keep the order. It's a lot like bein' the chief," Eldric pauses lightly for effect, "But with twice the power."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Sootscale is convinced, but insists that he be given a big shiny badge. So big it can double as a shield.
I have no problem with the trait
Eldric Lorren |
It looks like it's a human racial trait, so there's no problem on that note. Link.
I'm liking Sootscale already. I imagine something like this for the relative size. :P
Ravingdork |
Bluff 1, Diplomacy 1, Handle Animal 2, Intimidate 1, K (Nature) 1, Ride 3, Sense Motive 1, Sleight of Hand 1.
Hm, looks like I missed one rank. Adding in one rank in Disable Device, then.
Shouldn't you have at least 16 ranks altogether? (20 if you put your favored class bonus into ranks.)
4 x level - 4 for intelligence + 4 human bonus = 16
So any decision on a kingdom name?
That Latin one mentioned above was fine I think.
Eldric Lorren |
I took the Heart of the Wilderness racial, but apparently I completely forgot to put it anywhere in my profile. This has now been updated.
Working on the Kingmaker calendar, updating names from Earth to Golarion.

Nice calendar!
Here's your sheet, Eldric. I couldn't find stats for your mount, so I improvised. Let me know if something doesn't look right, or is otherwise in need of changing.

O.K. normally I would say Mass combat rules are junk. But this bard and cavalier can really boost an army.
Just keep an eye out on those bonuses with the same type. They don't stack.
Are you really considering junking the mass combat rules? I was really looking forward to trying those. :'(
23rd Gozran, 4707 A.R. - Wealday was the start of a new day. Not just any day. To day was the day that the settlement of Caerulus was founded. In the ruins of the former Stag Lords fortress. Under the charter given by Bervory. This band of hardy adventures would being their greatest challenge yet.
Whose Bervory? Also, are we beginning our greatest challenge yet? Or are we actually physically our own greatest challenge? ;P
Use spellcheck guys. You have the time for it.
Riva wastes no time directing hired workers into making repairs to the castle ruin and towards construction of the foundations of her library some distance further down the hill.
"No. No. No! This goes here and that goes there! What do you think you're doing with that? That's not what it's made for! Don't you know anything? What incompetence! This is going to take forever! Where's the foreman? Foreman! Oh there you are. What is with your men? They're collectively as intelligent as a lobotomized goblin! Did you train them? Yes it was you, wasn't it? This is all your fault you know. By the time they get it right I will have died of old age--to say nothing of your workers, or any hope for our efforts here!"
Hurray for 8 Charisma. :P

I don't like how they take the PC's off center stage.
I thought you were making a smithy to make the badge?
Ravingdork |
What are we doing with the ruin's guys? Making it into a functioning castle again?
I don't like how they take the PC's off center stage.
That's as good a reason as I've ever heard.
I thought you were making a smithy to make the badge?
Riva said she was going to get some blacksmiths to begin work on it. Not necessarily build a blacksmith's forge. It was also more to placate the creature, rather than something to actually be acted upon immediately. With as many workers as are likely around, though, finding someone to hammer out a shiny shield badge shouldn't be all that hard.
Powergaming DM |
Have to say not sure why you are repairing the castle when you have no unrest yet.
Edit:
I would suggest building a smithy. Gives +1 Eco and stability also allows you to make a badge. Of course repair the castle gets a castle and because you are repairing not building it is discounted by half. But you could do that later.

Good night.
Edit:
Another question what alignment do you all want the kingdom to be?
Hah. I was just about to ask that. I've been reading up on Ultimate Campaign's changes to the initial Kingmaker rules (it's been years since I used them) and that was one of the first things it said you need to decide upon.
As a player, NG has generally been my go-to alignment, but in this case, I think Riva would be pushing strongly for a lawful community.
GM, where are we going to be posting the technical kingdom stats and making kingdom related checks?
Here, or in the gameplay thread? I was thinking about making a "forum template" for the kingdom rules that we could just copy and paste as needed.
Adular |
Well, Adular Garess would be all for promoting his religion, which mostly means a Chaotic Neutral, or at least Chaotic, outlook. Given Riva is pushing Law, and our Ruler is angling for good, we might balance out at NG as the majority yet. Though, as High Priest, I would hope Adular would be shaping the souls and beliefs of the common folk.
Oh yes, we'll be turning farmhands into berserkers and dainty milkmaids into bloodthirsty amazons in record time...
That's the dream anyway :)
Ravingdork |
I found an updated Excel sheet we can use for Kingdom Tracking. It utilizes all of the rules from Ultimate Campaign.
I recommend you guys bookmark it and reference it regularly.
I agree with the whole C+L=N logic put forth by our barbarian. We all seem to be in agreement on the good aspect, so I guess our kingdom is going to be NG.
EDIT: Fixed Eldric's horse's name.
Ravingdork |
I'll see what I can figure out.
GM, what terrain type is our current hex and how much of our starting BP is it going to cost to ready the land for a settlement in the first place? I think I read 1 BP, leaving us with 49 for the castles and other buildings, but I can't remember of the terrain modified that or not.
I want to get an idea of where we are in the process (I think we're a little ahead of the mechanics in our roleplay).
