Both Bears are down. The wisps seem disappointed it was over so quickly.

Amazing how much expression you can get out of balls of light

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8

Riva blasts one of the lanterns with magic missile.

"Get out of here!"

Magic Missile damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 2 = 4

No effect. The don't even seem to notice.

I already told you they are immune to magic. Magic missile allows spell resistance.

Male Human Bard 4

I don't think she cares

Rory turns his bow on the wisps and draws. "Think we should try to take care of these two before they bring us more trouble?" Rory asked the others. He would have rather left but he knew they would simply bring more animals for them to fight. But at the same time he was unsure if they could handle the two wisps.

Male Elf Paladin-3

"Save your spells, Riva, unless you have something that can shield us from their power and want us to attack." Adular heals Mallichatti some.

CLW: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11

You may want to read that a little bit closer. Most creatures with that ability have a few spells which bypass it, or have alternative effects. Knowing the difference is where knowledge skills come in handy.

Immunity to Magic (Ex) Will-o'-wisps are immune to all spells and spell-like abilities that allow spell resistance, except magic missile and maze.

The wisps go out.

Sorry

The inner voice within your ear

Once the lanterns wink out, Riva tenses up, ready to cast another spell.

Riva is readying an action to cast another magic missile at the wisps should they attack. She can't target what she can't see, but she can target what she can touch. Should the wisps attack her in melee, she can blast them during that brief moment they are in contact with her.

surprise round

Mallicatti
hermit
cat

Mallicatti sees the great cat coming and can act first in the surprise round but he did not see the hermit.

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8

For the purposes of my sheild spell, how much time passed in between combats?

about 12 seconds.

Barbarian 7 AC:19, HP:66/66 (46/78), Fire Resist 2, DR 3/-, Reach

Still raging MAllichatti kicks aside the bears and interposes himself between the cat and the group.

Moving so that he either has to go around me (ruining a charge) or run into me (and eat an AOO)

Riva hiding behind a tree in the last battle is surprised by a man in rags sneaking up behind her and stabbing her in the back.

sneak attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
damage: 1d6 + 3d6 ⇒ (4) + (5, 5, 4) = 18

His large cat moves to riva's other side.

1st round
Adular
Rory
Mallicatti
hermit
cat
Riva

Male Elf Paladin-3

Adular is startled at the ambush, but soon recovers enough to take action. He says to the Hermit, "Kill that cat."

Quote:
Murderous Command spell: You give the target a mental urge to kill its nearest ally, which it obeys to the best of its ability. The target attacks its nearest ally on its next turn with a melee weapon or natural weapon. If necessary, it moves to or charges to the nearest ally in order to make this attack. If it is unable to reach its closest ally on its next turn, the target uses its turn to get as close as possible to the ally.

Will Save DC 16 to resist

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8

4 HP left, and only 16 away from death. I'm dead if he sneak attacks me like that again, which between both him and his cat being in flanking positions and having better initiative than Riva, seems pretty likely if you guys can't do something about it.

Good luck.

"No not now later. We kill them now."

The cat attacks Riva with bite and claw.

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8

*laughs in relief* That's a start.

Male Orc Expert 5

waitin on rory

Male Human Bard 4

Sorry, was running my own kingmaker yesterday. Lets see, I'm assuming the hermit and cat are on the same side since the hermit attacked the cat, i'm gonna assume i can approach Riva without provoking. My inspire courage is still up too. If not i'm gonna change my turn.

When Riva goes down Rory quickly moves to her free side and touches her shoulder. "C'mon Riva, you can't quit on us that easily." He then hums a tune and channels some of his arcane power through her.

cure light wounds: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Barbarian 7 AC:19, HP:66/66 (46/78), Fire Resist 2, DR 3/-, Reach

Mallichatti charges the cat.

"Kill them now sounds about right!"

1d20 + 12 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 12 - 2 + 2 = 31 Attack
1d10 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 6 = 20 Damage

Barbarian 7 AC:19, HP:66/66 (46/78), Fire Resist 2, DR 3/-, Reach

1d10 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 10 + 6 = 20

The cat is down so therefor it did not attack.

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8

On her turn, Riva attempts to blind the hermit. DC 19

Casting Defensively, DC 19: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26

The hermit is Blind. "I dedicate this death to the masters". He does not seem likely to surrender.

Next round
Adular

Riva

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8

Who is he referring to when he says "the masters?"

Knowledge: arcana: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (15) + 16 = 31
Knowledge: dungeoneering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Knowledge: engineering: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Knowledge: planes: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Knowledge: religion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24

There is no way any of those checks could tell you what a mad man is thinking. All they give you are the differing definitions of the words.

Male Human Bard 4

"Who are the masters?" Rory asks the mad hermit.

diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Male Elf Paladin-3

"Oh for crying out loud, are we about to break up a perfectly good fight?" Adular snorts, and settles for channeling while others try their 'talk'.

Wounds heal for any wounded, except, of course, for the Mad Hermit himself.

All good guys healed by... 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6

diplomacy checks take a minute.

Male Human Bard 4

Ouch, nevermind then. Scratch my whole last post.

"Try to take him alive, I wanna know if we need to be worried about these 'masters'" Rory says to the other.

He turns attention to the blind hermit. "As for you, Stand down" he says, his words swimming with arcane might.

Riva hasn't really been talking during the fight. Knowledge checks are strictly a mental non-action

Powergaming DM wrote:

But making a request can take as little as 1 full round (though, creatures who aren't at least indifferent don't typically listen to requests anyways).

Riva moves away from the madman at her next chance.

fort save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

He's is dazed

Male Human Bard 4

woo! Dazed and blind! Gamble paid off.

"I'm afraid we're not going to be giving you the satisfaction!"

So what does Mallicatti do?

Barbarian 7 AC:19, HP:66/66 (46/78), Fire Resist 2, DR 3/-, Reach

*sigh* preparing for the inevitable execution when the wisps start chasing us down.

"We atking him alive!?!" Mallichati seems as much enraged as shocked but given he's still mid swing from decapitating a cat this seems hardly out of place as his axe comes down again on the mans weapon.

Sunder whatever weapon he is holding. Blowing Strength surge.
1d20 + 12 + 2 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 12 + 2 + 4 - 2 = 26 Attack
1d10 + 10 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 6 = 26 Damage to his whatever.

Male Human Bard 4

to be fair I said try to take him alivde. If you kill him, you kill him. In al honesty Rory wants him dead after this stunt. Sees him as too big of a possible threat to the city. The hermit's master comment just has him wanting to be sure there's nothing bigger out there, though I honestly doubt he'll be very helpful.

You sunder his masterwork short sword.

At least I think you do can't find the hp of short swords

The hemit is dazed and can not act this round.

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8

Scroll to the very bottom. There is a table, where you will find "light blade" with 10 hardness and 2 hit points.

So I'm guessing you are going to try and tie him up this round?

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8

Or knock him out with nonlethal damage.

So do that.

Barbarian 7 AC:19, HP:66/66 (46/78), Fire Resist 2, DR 3/-, Reach

Not my turn. I broke his shiv.

Male Human Bard 4

It's Riva's turn unless all she's doing is moving away from him. In which case it's Adular's

Female Tower Elf Arcanist 8

(It's Adular's. There's not much more for Riva to do, but stay out of the way.)

Male Elf Paladin-3

Adular snorts and swings, using the flat of his blade, hoping to keep the hermit alive

Striking for non lethal, -4 to hit already counted in
To hit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Dmg (Nonlethal) 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + 6 = 14

Male Human Bard 4

Rory looked hard at the bruised hermit and spoke arcane words, sweet as honey yet as strong as a summer storm. "Speak truth and tell me about your masters," he commanded.
Suggestion DC 16 will to negate. I'm hoping its a reasonable suggestion since he's already mentioned his masters.

will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

He is still conscious.

Male Human Bard 4

fixed the post then to reflect as such since i still could. I take it my suggestion isn't reasonable enough for him to get a -4

Not really sounds more like a command.
