Jamir, battered, bruised, and bloodied (down to about 25% of hp), limps down the corridor behind Myth. He pops a small flask from his spring-loaded wrist sheath and drinks it.
Potion of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Bah!
The potion closes some of the worst of his wounds, and he stands up a little straighter.
"This machine is a coward, eh, my friends?" The halfling spits onto the floor, and blood stains the sand. "All it does is hit and run. Could we possibly lure it into that pit Jawhar found?"

![]() |

"Sounds like an excellent idea, but that pit is a long way down the tunnel. If you all start running in that direction it might be possible, but this thing is fast."
Jawhar turns and starts to move in that direction, but can't quite get there before getting bowled over.

lucklesshero |

yes you are approximately 1/2 way down the causeway making the pit 350' back and theoretically the main Pyramid 350' in front of you.

![]() |

Reflex Save for 1/2 dmg: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 FAIL!
Craggark tries to dodge the pyramid but zigs when he should have zagged, and gets partly clobbered and knocked down.
"Ow!"
Did this thing literally stop on top of me? I'm going to need some clarification before my turn.

lucklesshero |

Craggark in my google slides map the pyramid is clearly occupying the four squares to the left of you. Is anyone else seeing what Craggark is seeing (that the pyramid pawn is sitting on top of his?) If you're checking from a mobile device that often messes with how the map fits the screen Craggark. Check again from a computer if that's the case. If not don't know what to say it's pretty obvious from my end. However, for the record the pyramid stopped after running you over. The pyramid is on your left right next to you one square away. It would normally get an AoO if you try stand unless, you do something 'tricky'

![]() |

Again, apologies for the delay.
Craggark growls from the ground, focusing his eyes on the caster wheels of the massive stone pyramid, trying to detect anything that might aid his aims.
Perception Check: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 Nope.
"Well, this isn't how I saw this happening, but you've got to roll with the punches, I guess!" the frostkin quips as he stands up holding the lead edge of the construct and attempting to canter the thing off of its wheels, effectively tripping it as it swings at him with a stony arm.
Move action to stand, provoking AoO. Use of Improved Trip (no further AoO). If this thing has charged, then it takes a penalty to its CMD as well, no?

lucklesshero |

As Craggark stands the pyramid lashes out with that same lightning quick appendage that, tried to hit his friend Torvald, AoO slam: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26dmg: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
So Craggark , I'm going over combat thread..and here's what I have: the first round it ran over Jamir and Myth (after you jumped over it in the surprise round), the second round it's run over Jamir , Myth, and you..you failed your save so you took 15hp when it ran you over and knocked you prone. So now you've gotten up from prone and it hits you with the slam for 17hp. You had 21hp to start that, doesn't drop you with Orc ferocity but I wanted to give you a chance to change your action based on this new info. So just FYI I won't give the thing stability figuring that's already built in it's bulk..but it's multiple rollers are equivalent to 4 legs and I'll stand by that ruling. Knowing all this do you want to change your action? Your up and you've currently taken 32hp damage. We'll wait until you post again.

![]() |

Oh man, I messed up. I thought that I had the choice of taking 1/2 dmg and the reflex save OR taking an AoO. I didn’t realise that I had already taken 15hp of dmg. If I don’t stand up, however, I’m guaranteed to get rolled over next round....right. With the generous GM’s permission, I WILL NOT stand up, but instead will try the trip from a prone position, thereby missing that vicious AoO but guaranteeing that I get run over next round. The. MB roll is 4 lower (a 15), if you allow this ret-con. As far as my move action replacement goes, can I pull out my potion of CLW and cradle it in my arms so I can chug it after I’m below 0 next round?
Also, your dice are evil.

lucklesshero |

OK Ret-con post.. A couple things
2. I have written at least twice that this creature's rollers are equivalent to four legs for the purpose of tripping ..I will not allow a ret-con of Craggark's trip attack.
3. I feel a little of this could have been avoided by, just following the thread a little closer Craggark. There was prescient, Jamir had failed a save and took full damage while Myth had passed and took only half. I feel I stated the creatures abilities clearly and even gave a spoiler text in the discussion thread for anyone who was confused at how to approach this adversary.
Having said all that, I do believe you're busy right now and it was an over site on your part and PbP can just be tough to follow sometimes. So I'll allow a retcon to the extent I'm comfortable with by allowing you to re-do your actions of the second round, but again keeping all rolls that would carry over.
I'll pick up the action from the construct's turn on the second round
The construct pyramid blows down the hallway, bumping into both Myth and Jamir along the way and not stopping until, it runs down Craggark and knocks him to the ground; Screeching to a halt, on just on the other side of the Frostkin Orc, the pyramid looms over the beat-up warrior. Torvald rushes closer to the action, to aid his friends. Craggark stays on the ground, not wanting to provoke the creature. He instead reaches underneath the creature and tries to pull out some of the rollers from it's base..but finds the task too difficult.
Frustrated and wounded, Craggark tries pull a healing vial from one of his pouches
After Craggark is through with his action in round 2..the following happens. Jawhar moves and cast bless on all of his friends but the spell doesn't quite reach Torvald. Myth moves away from the construct hoping to put some distance between himself and the punishing pyramid. Jamir follows him at a slower pace..activating his spring loaded wrist sheath and downing the contents of a mild healing potion.
Ok not going to list initiative on this post because only Analia can act and of coarse I've given Craggark another opportunity to revise his action again. Until we get that settled no use in posting anything else. Reminder of HP status as of this post: Construct -30hp, Myth -12hp, Jamir -14hp , Craggark -15hp..all others undamaged.

Ok: I've come up with something that I could do with my ret-con'd move action. Sorry for the delay.
Craggark fails to topple the stony pyramid looming over his prone body. Rethinking pulling out a potion to heal his bruised and soon-to-be broken form, the half-orc performs a simple kata in the foetal position as a means of ameliorating some of the damage that he's taken and sure to take when the pyramid crushes him next round.
Move action to use Martial Flexibility to gain Combat Vigour as new bonus feat. Stay prone and stay ready to take my medicine next round.

![]() |

Lia continues to move away before she turns to see how close the pyramid is.
"CRAGGARK!" the little gnome girl screams as she sees the frostkin get battered by the magical construct!
She throws her flame once again, hoping beyond hope to melt the stone that threatens her beloved.
Produce flame/ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
fire dmg: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
She moves another 20' away this round, but she is done running now that the construct seems to be on Craggark. Unless strongly urged by the others(she is small and weak so it won't take much) she would rush to his aid despite being little able to help him other than by pouring healing potions down his throat if he looses consciousness.

lucklesshero |

Wouldn't that natural 20 result in a critical threat?
Yes it would, I'll wait till late tonight my time 10:30-11pm to let her get back to the boards and confirm it...otherwise I'll make the roll

![]() |

I didn't even notice I rolled a 20, so thanks for that. I was being a bit of a knucklehead to miss that, if I do say so myself. ;)
confirm vs touch+bless: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 1 = 19
bonus fire dmg: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
EDIT: Added +1 from bless after Jawhar's reminder.

lucklesshero |

Analia's flame strikes true damaging the living block even further. She looks toward Craggark in desperate worry. The Pyramid breaks loose and rumbles over Craggark's prone form and then Jawhar stopping just short of Analia and most the rest of the party. Jawahr's dmg: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 Craggark's damage is 17hp for (reasons already stated) unless he make's his save (DC:18 reflex). I'm going the assumption, you'll both choose to try and save, rather than take AoOs (if you take AoOs you take full dmg because, you get no save)

I can't find it written anywhere that my Reflex save is affected by being prone, but I'm sure someone will tell me if I have it incorrect.
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 I love my rolls. They are the greatest.
Craggark gets crushed by the pyramid as it rolls over him.
Immediately enact Orc Ferocity. Then immediately enact Combat Vigour.
Combat Vigour healing: 1d6 ⇒ 4 Stabilised at -7 hp.
Craggark, lying mangled on the floor in a pool of his own blood, relocates his dislocated knee and staunches the worst of his bleeding.
"Don't worry about me," the half-orc calls out in a curiously high-pitched voice, "Just kill that thing!"
Craggark then passes out.

lucklesshero |

The unstoppable Juggernaut, churns through Craggark and Jawhar knocking them Jawhar unconscious Craggark's extremely resilient Orc heritage keeps him conscious long enough so he can call on his extensive martial training, to slow part of his metabolism and heart rate enough to stop his bleeding and help him regains some of his vigor. However, still severely wounded, he does eventually succumb to unconsciousness.

Beyond reason with fury as the pyramid crushes her friends, Lia defiantly throws her fire at the large construct before her.
Ranged touch+bless: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 1 = 13
fire dmg: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
She will provoke and it may knock her out before her attack even gets off but I think the actions fit her character. Sure she could us a melee touch, but she would be -1 instead of +4 to hit and that could mean her efforts were a waste. Either way she is getting trampled next round and possibly dead. I hope someone else rocks this thing for at least a little damage. We might be close! :)

"You damned chunk of stone! Burn!" Torvald stands his ground as the contraption rumbles towards him, waiting until it was nearly upon him before hurling his bomb into its surface. As the fire blooms the dwarf whoops and scrambles away.

Lucklesshero, you have me at -18 hp, but I think you forgot the 4 hp from the potion I took last round.
Jamir takes a five-foot step, coming face-to-sandstone with the murderous construct.
"I am certain that there is a brilliant and devious way to destroy this malevolent pile of rock without risk of such injury to our friends," he says grimly. "But I admit I would find such a scheme less satisfying than it will be to destroy it by taking it apart, piece by piece, and burning the rest!"
Jamir spends a point of panache to double his precision damage if he hits.
Mwk Rapier, Bless, incl. 2x precision dmg: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 = 221d4 + 3 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 3 + 6 = 10
Oh, good, 2hp more damage!

AoO on Torvald?or Ana: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25dmg: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14 Pretty sure Torvald was wintin' 10' when he threw that bomb.If So, he gets Smacked for 14' if not Analia will take the hit either way no one drops But, let me know who got hit. The party attacks in full force and the construct responds by slamming one of their members..but the combined force of flame and steel is too much even for the stone skinned Goliath..Eventually the onslaught by the rest of the group is too much and the Pyramid construct is broken apart into nothing but blocks.
Lucklesshero, you have me at -18 hp, but I think you forgot the 4 hp from the potion I took last round.
yep you're correct u should have -14hp less than your max...not -18
Combat over!
you have time to stabilize everybody so no one dies...Torvald, assuming you're using the happy stick ..you can either heal 5hp auto every shot and just do the math...or roll every thing out...I assume since this is only your second encounter you'll want everyone full.PS Jamir did not need to use a panache' on that last round

Once Craggark is conscious, he still seems sort of out of it.
”Did I win the gold monkey foot? No more shots. My tum-tum doesn’t feel so good. Happy Birthday, everyone?
This may or may not end soon...

![]() |

Lia acted first so she should have taken the hit.
Smacked near to death by one blow from the construct, Lia grits her teeth as she feels the pyramid roll toward her. As it suddenly falls apart instead of rolling over her, her surprise is fleeting and she quickly rushes through the debris with little regard for anything other than her downed friends.
Coming to her beloved's side, she cradles his head against her body as Torvald sets to work with the healing wands.
As Craggark's eyes flutter open, and his words come tumbling out, Lia smiles through her tears and responds.
"Yes dear heart, you won the golden monkey foot, and on your birthday no less."
She then peppers his battered face with small, delicate kisses, as if each one was a special healing magic of its own kind.
Use up my wand first as it has so few charges. One less thing to keep track of after it's gone. I would take 3 charges to be back to full health if we take the 5 hp option.

![]() |

Myth mutters, "Forget what I said earlier about mummies...this thing has got to be worse...hope it didn't reproduce..."
I have a wand of CLW as well, with 49 charges...we can use it when and as needed...

![]() |

Sounds good. Let's track the wands on the resource slide as before. I have taken off the potion of CLW I used, and 3 charges of from my wand to get back to full. Lia and Craggark will probably wipe out Lia's; just flip a coin on which wand(s) are used to heal Jawhar and Torvald.
Jamir sighs as he is healed by the divine magic of the wand, bleeding wounds close, outraged muscles relax, and broken ribs knit together. After the spell is cast for a third time, he sticks a finger into his mouth to check on the teeth that had been knocked loose the first time the violent polygon rolled over him. Once he confirms they are stable and straight, he nods and waves off another casting from the healing wand.
"Isn't it odd that the teeth are always the last thing healing magic repairs? Every single time!"

lucklesshero |

Ok any other healing can be retconed..moving along
Your group carefully traverse the rest of the causeway after the near disaster with the pyramid construct. You search for more monsters or traps carefully the entire rest of the length of the long tunnel but, nothing else obstructs your progress. Finally you reach the end of your goal. The hallway darkens as the shadow of the pyrmamid covers what little moonlight, that crept through the slats in the roof above. You're at the base of the pyramid at the end of the Causeway.
A pair of heavy stone doors carved with images of rampant sphinxes stand at the terminus of the long causeway. Myth and Torvald have moved up front to inspect the doors.
Go ahead and give me perception checks if you want to check for traps. Myth and Torvald.

Craggark took 5 charges. Lia, I killed your wand and subtracted 2 more from mine.
Once his mind clears, Craggark kicks at the destroyed stone pyramid, frowning. "This thing is just awful because it makes you feel so puny." He looks up, determined. "I have heard of weapons that can bite through stone. Perhaps, when we return to the marketplaces of Osirion, I might be able to find something like that."
Craggark shrugs, rubbing his sore head and rejoining the rest of the group.

“Welcome to my world, my pugilistic friend!” Jamir grins at Craggark. ”You’ll get used to the feeling in time, I promise you. It helps to remember that size does not equal puissance. Even the puny” — he bows sardonically — ”may wield great power.” He nods in Lia’s direction.
”Be of good cheer! You punched our way through our enemies in icebound Irrisen, so effectively that my rapier was hardly needed. I have no doubt you will be able to do the same to our dessicated adversaries here in the sandy southlands.”

"Are all the Osirian Pharaohs this focused on a theme?" Torvald wonders aloud, nodding towards the sphinx imagery. "Good looking door though, lets see if you've any nasty surprises for us..."

![]() |

With a grateful sigh of relief as Craggark comes to his senses, Lia smiles and turns at Jamir's comment.
Then with a pleasant tone, slightly tinged with concern, she speaks up.
"From that sentry, I expect many such guardians, sometimes even hiding in plain sight. Let's just be clear, if at all possible, what threat we are facing before we rush it headfirst. I nearly lost some of you to that thing and that just isn't something I want to see."
Lia then casts a spell to replenish her innate fire magic, in the likely event it is needed again.
Cast recharge innate magic to get produce flame back.

The doors open with the uncomfortable sound of, ancient grinding against rock. A dark Hallway 10' wide and 20' long stretches along in front of you, opening in to a room filled with tall, pink granite columns, carved and painted to resemble palm trees. The columns, stand around the perimeter of this chamber, supporting the barrel vault of the ceiling. Slabs of the same pink granite line the walls. A stone sarcophagus stands alone on the limestone floor in the center of the room. Beyond, a dark doorway leads deeper into the pyramid to the west.

![]() |

As her compatriots open the door, Lia stares in wonder at the sight before them.
"This must be representative of a time when the land around us was more alive with flora than it is now. How interesting."
Still wary, she looks and listens intently for threats and things of interest.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
I moved Lia onto the map, but assume the others are in front, having just opened the door. When everyone is ready Lia will summon a dancing light and send it across the room to light up the darkened doorway to the west. Who knows, it may trigger something if a visual light would do that.

Jawhar looks around at the scene with awe.
"Perhaps they simply lived on the river and hid their dead in the desert to keep the tombs from being raided so easily?
Seems more likely than a desert suddenly appearing unless these ruins date back to Earthfall. Do you think they are that old? Absolutely amazing preservation, if they do."
Once Myth and Torvald have looked for traps, Jawhar will bang his shield against one of the columns trying to see if it is a construct of some kind.
