I don't have that book. But, if you don't mind explaining things as we go, I'm okay with it.
Cool, I appreciate that.
I'll send you the SRD link when I get a chance an PM a breakdown of the basics. I've not delved into it much but want to and a PC is a god way to do just that. If you remember 3.5 think Tome of Battle for the equivalent (Martial Maneuvers).

Do I know you under a different alias?
Nope! But I read some of your other non-game threads. They are very fun.

Flouncy's going trickster, too. Js. How about a magus? I think we're low on fighty types.
Hmmm, in that case I'll go Arcanist/Fighter. I do want to do a Rogue dip at level 1 as the concept of Dex lends itself to a Charlatan type and he needs the skill points to take expansive crafting. I do plan on taking Craft Magic Arms and Armor and Craft Wondrous Items.

For your consideration, Aeden Havok, half-orc cleric of Aurora Starshine.
Please let me know if this meets with your approval.
Also, I would like to know if you are using Background Skills. Additionally, the original recruitment specified no Traits; is that still the case?

Have you considered going Swashbuckler for that Dip?
an inspired blade dip is very dex friendly.
Heh, I have a build like that already plus Dex has just about as high a Strength as he does Dex. The dip is really for the Skill Points plus the fact that Dex was a bit of a crook. :-)

I like it.
You need a lot of levels to craft stuff, but we could get there.

Sorry to be AWOL here since this took off again. I have had limited time for PbPs. I've had a chance to update some of the long-running ones, but I'm rather over-committed in general. I think you had already been working under the assumption I would not be back, but just in case I will make it official that I've bowed out for now. I may reassess what I can handle next year.
I hope it all goes well, John!

A donkey is like 8 gp. Flouncy will buy one, if available.
I'll be out of town and off the interwebs until Sunday night. Going to see Dead & Co. do 2 shows in Detroit and Columbus. Bot me if needed.

I hope someone is trained in Handle Animal - otherwise the donkey may run off if we're attacked!
The cost for the donkey should come out of our gear allowance, so Flouncy doesn't have to spend pocket money.
For the donkey:
* Bit and bridle - 2 gp
* Pack saddle - 5 gp
* Saddlebags - 4 gp
* 30 days of feed (300 lbs!) - 1 gp 5 sp
* Blanket - 5 sp - So it doesn't freeze to death if we have a cold night out
Other stuff we should consider:
* Compass - 10 gp - +2 to Survival checks to avoid getting lost
* Silk rope, 50' - 10 gp
* Hooded lantern - 7 gp - Someone will need to carry this
* Lamp oil - 1 sp per 6 hours - Might as well spend a gold piece and get 10 pints
* Sunrod - 2 gp - Nice alternative if we have to go underwater or some place lanterns don't work
* Journal - 10 gp - In case someone needs to make maps and notes. Ink is 8 gp and a quill pen is 1 sp.
* Chalk - 1 cp - Common for marking walls and traps
* Crowbar - 2 gp - Bonus to open stuck doors & such
* Grappling hook - 1 gp - In case we have to get a rope across a chasm
* Folding shovel - 12 gp
* Flint and steel - 1 gp - For starting fires
* Acid - 10 gp per vial - Thrown weapon effective vs. swarms, trolls, almost anything really
We should consider a bunch of alchemical goodies with our nonmagic stipend.
