Sounds like it might be time to get ill make up a deity!

Is everyone who expressed interest aboard? Was Freehold going to join?
How many we got so far? 6? I'm good with that or even a couple more. It's going to be a nonstandard adventure. I can adjust stuff, and you'll have enough to split up and be effective if you must.
I don't know if Freehold knows. Shoot him a PM.

Who does she think she is? That girl has tangled with
the wrong man! No one says "no" to Valdi!
Heh heh. Darn right.
Dismissed! Rejected! Publicly Humiliated! Why, it's
more than I can bear.
More beer?
What for? Nothing helps. I'm disgraced.
Who, you? Never! Valdi, you've got to pull yourself together.
Gosh it disturbs me to see you, Valdi
Looking so down in the dumps
Every guy here'd love to be you, Valdi
Even when taking your lumps
There's no man in town as admired as you
You're ev'ryone's favorite guy
Ev'ryone's awed and inspired by you
And it's not very hard to see why
No one's slick as Valdi
No one's quick as Valdi
No one's neck's as incredibly thick as Valdi
For there's no man in town half as manly
Perfect, a pure paragon
You can ask any Tom, Dick or Stanley
And they'll tell you whose team they prefer to be on
No one's been like Valdi
A king pin like Valdi
No one's got a swell cleft in his chin like Valdi
As a specimen, yes, I'm intimidating
My- what a guy, that Valdi
Give five "hurrahs!"
Give twelve "hip-hips!"
Valdi is the best
And the rest is all drips
No one fights like Valdi
Douses lights like Valdi
In a wrestling match nobody bites like Valdi
For there's no one as burly and brawny
As you see I've got biceps to spare
Not a bit of him's scraggly or scrawny
(That's right!)
And ev'ry last inch of me's covered with hair
No one hits like Valdi
Matches wits like Valdi
In a spitting match nobody spits like Valdi
I'm espcially good at expectorating
(Ptooey!)
Ten points for Valdi!
When I was a lad I ate four dozen eggs
Ev'ry morning to help me get large
And now that I'm grown I eat five dozen eggs
So I'm roughly the size of a barge
No one shoots like Valdi
Makes those beauts like Valdi
Then goes tromping around wearing boots like Valdi
I use antlers in all of my decorating
Say it again
Who's a man among men?
And then say it once more
Who's the hero next door?
Who's a super success?
Don't you know? Can't you guess?
Ask his fans and his five hangers-on
There's just one guy in town who's got all of it down
And his name's V-A-L
V-A-L-D
V-A-L-D-I yi!
VALDI!!!!!!!!!

Truly, Banjo giveth with one hand, and taketh away with the other. I think the hand with the banjo is the taketh-ing one. Otherwise he'd pretty much only be able to giveth banjos.

I was originally thinking of a ranger, but we seem to have several potential martial types already. I think I may end up going down the druid path, but we'll see what happens.
I was thinking of heading toward a cleric path, with some devotion to a harvest deity (seems appropriate for peasants). That's likely to lend itself to a lot of plant/weather domain sort of abilities. Do you think that will overlap too much with a druid?

Oh my god, Ashman and Menken were so perfect. <3 <3 <3
I wonder if Lancelot was their inspiration for Gaston? The voice is even Goulet-ish.
Even more rambling: I have so much respect for Richard Burton's courage. Singing on the same stage as Robert Goulet with Burton's voice... wow.

“Oh, a fine day it is goodsir! The sun shines brightly, the bees buzz in the meadows, birds sing sweetly. How could nature provide a more pleasant bounty on such a day?”

“Got any weed?”
Valdimir smirks, and drapes a meaty arm around Sunny's shoulders
"My dear, if you need anything in this town, I am the man to get it for you! If you'd like, my local is just down the block. I could see if my contact is in residence. We could go have a drink and get to know one another better."

It seems like a good fit. If we're trying to be regular peasants, we probably don't want a name like Rognar the Destroyer.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Opening that portal to the Far Realm so that aliens can possess the bodies of dead humans is a great idea. I've got the whole ritual memorized back-to-front. Totally foolproof.

OK, link to legal starting gear is posted in campaign tab under "Equipment".
You really don't have much, but then... you're not proficient in anything.
If you have some special thingie you need connected with your backstory or plans, PM me so we can work it in.
The only nonstandard stuff Cletus has are a dagger, a notebook, and a vial of ink. Also, 100 gp seemed high to me for a level 1 commoner, so I capped his off at a still-respectable 30 gp.

It is high, but you might want to hang onto the remainder. Or not, if you don't care. Consider it your legacy, or your apprentice's pay as your master kicks you out, or what you got for selling your hovel before you left your home town - whatever.
Do you have a shovel or does that need to be obtained?
