CMB check to slip loose of the dragon's grip.....: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (11) + 17 = 28

[EDIT]: Didn't think so...

Ryo is up next.

Cues up Jeopardy music...

"Dammit, I can't do anything because Tam's right there!"

"..."

"&*%$."
Ryo sits down and clasps his hands together. His shadow starts to writh and buck like a living thing, and surges out to connect with Dantyre's/Tamrin's. It almost looks like it's pulling, and everytime it pulls, Tamrin feels a jerk, like something is trying to pull him from the dragon's clawed grip.

"Come on, you can do it..."

CMB:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (3) + 15 = 18

How perfect. Can I get, "Weird Shadows" for 100 Tamrin?

'Weird Shadows' for 100....Whose attack was just totally ineffectual in saving the life of his friend? Remember - your answer must be phrased in the form of a question... ;D

"I'll take that as your answer, then. Such compassion you have for your fellow man," the Silver roars as he brings his other foreclaw together with the first...

Crushing damage: 4d6 + 24 ⇒ (2, 4, 5, 1) + 24 = 36

"No! Please! Don't hurt him!"

The stone armor gives Tam DR 10/adamantine. In case that matters.

Aananda sees Tam look at her for a brief moment, then the claws obscure her vision of him. The sound of his body being crushed, however, deafens the wind itself.

The Silver flies away, releasing his grip as he does. Something...unrecognizable plummets to the icy surface of the comet below...

DR noted. His hit points were too low already, I'm afraid...

It's Aananda's turn now.

Oh that Silver is going to wish he'd die now... and that's if Ryo gets to him first.

Aananda's scream rends the air. Every piece of earth anywhere near her begins to rise, and then flies at the Silver as he tries to retreat.

With the holes that Ryo opened up earlier I think she can safely manage about 1000 pounds of rock. This would definitely be considered going nova here.

To hit:1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
Damage: 40d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 3, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, 6, 4, 4, 6, 5, 4, 5, 5, 2, 6, 3, 6, 1, 1, 4, 6, 5, 2, 1, 4, 6, 5, 3, 4, 6, 2, 2, 4, 3, 1, 2, 4) = 146

The sickening sound of splitting ice echoes across the landscape as stone is wrenched from the depths of the comet. The sheer force of the impact knocks the Silver out of the sky, sending him crashing into the side of an ice cliff and back down to the ground about 200 feet away from Aananda and Ryo.

Agarthian Storyteller wrote:

Yeah - that's kinda what I was shooting for. Hope you've been holding back an Ace, there, partner, because you need to play it now if you want to put him down for good.

It's Ryo's turn...

"Tam..rin?"

The shadow slows his fall, setting him gently on the snow in front of Ryo. The remains right in front of him, Ryo can only think to do four things. First, he places the card Depicting the serpent-staff onto Tamrin, hoping to atleast make him look.. more like him before Aananda gets back. Next, he places a shield around Tamrin, with a bit of fire to keep him from freezing. Then he detonates the two fire bombs he put on Dentyre.

Damage:7d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 2, 4, 6, 5, 1) = 26
Damage:7d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 3, 1, 6, 4, 4) = 24

The last thing he does, is stand and let the shadow form a very large orb next to him.

"Release and Dispel."

Not quite done yet!

Before I apply this...does Ryo have ranks in Spellcraft? If he does, make a roll for me please.

Aananda can do the same, if she has it as well.

Spellcraft:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29

EDIT: Holy *censored for the young alchemist watching*...

Not a single rank of Spellcraft or Psicraft or any of that.

Cardcaster Ryo wrote:

The orb explodes, revealing a figure all too familiar.

"I suppose you want me to kill it?" A nod from Ryo is all he needs, and Keaton takes off into the air as he sends an eldricth blast at the downed dragon.

Eldritch Spear:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
Damage:3d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 4) + (6, 3) = 21

Raise your hand if you didn't see this coming!

Cardcaster Ryo wrote:

Right on...

Ryo realizes that the way Tam's fireball spell that breached the Silver's spell resistance reacted was almost identical to the way that the Silver's breath reacted when Tam's protective spell absorbed the damage. The Silver's got to have the same spell protecting him - which means that fire won't do squat to him unless that element is almost exhausted.

Ryo knows this before his actions occur - does he want to keep them as you typed them, or does he want to modify them, based on this knowledge?

[EDIT]: Nevermind - action committed :)

The fires detonate, and some of the flames finally get through to the Silver, scorching his hide slightly as he struggles to get up.

The bolt of eldritch energy crashes into him like a thunderbolt, slamming him back into the ground.

He isn't struggling to rise anymore...

The serpent staff card is a healing card, I take it...?

Yep, used it on Ryleh when she found us and was beat up.

Now that I think about it, she can't be happy about Keaton's reappearance...

Aananda lands, drooping with exhaustion. That attack had taken everything she had. She walks over to the Silver, checking to see if he is still breathing.

Keaton drifts lazily above the scene, ready to strike again.

"Don't tell me I was pulled out of my rest for this... there wasn't much excitement to be had."

Afraid it won't work then, since Tam is technically an object (as he has the 'very messily dead' template). Mend or make whole effects, on the other hand... :)

It's very surreal talking about my corpse this way.... :/

The Silver is still breathing, but very haggardly. He appears to be unconscious.

She can make a Heal check if she wants a more exact status, of course. (Though I have a feeling she will be inflicting a status of her choosing on him momentarily..) ;D

Well, he had to try at the very least. If he isn't "in better shape" by the time Aananda's done maul the unconscious Silver, he'll use Illusion to clean things up a bit. Or watch in awe as another comes in to save the day!

Spoiler:

I just got this mental image of a 'Kung-Fu theater' movie with wuxia dragons leaping all over creation...

"You killed my brother...prepare to die!!! HWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

(^.^)

Hey! I resemble that mental image! ;P

Aananda rips the Silver's throat out, thus ending the problem of him still daring to be breathing.

When he got dropped, I thought of Tamrin having a "Wile E. Coyote" moment and leaving Tam-shaped crater in the snow! ;)

Aananda wrote:

Keaton watches dispassionately before he flies back to Ryo and slides into the shadows once more.

"I'm going back to sleep. Next time, call me when you really need help."

The Silver's lifeblood pours out of the wound, scarlet against polished silver. He takes a few more shuddering breaths, then no more.

Then the little white sign comes up out of the crater, saying "Ouch."... ;D

When she is adequately satisfied that the Silver is very very dead and could not be otherwise on account of his head no longer being attached to his body, she steps away. The rocks fall off her body and she transforms back into a human girl. She stumbles back over to Tam's barely recognizable body and drops to her knees, her whole body shaking with sobs.

Light years away, on-board the Harbinger Ascendant, Ryleh watched the events of the battle unfold...but in the shock of the scene before her, she notices something in the mangled ruin of Tam and his possessions. She notices a slight glint of ruby red...

Actually, it's probably safe to say she's been watching since I told her what was happening. Which reminds me of the mirrors.

Indeed - stand by for retcon...

Ryleh watches helplessly in her mirror. She knew this pain, all too well, and would have spared her daughter this if she could.

She pulls out the communicator Aananda left her and tries to contact Ryo.

High numbers good, fifty percent chance.

Retcon edited in above for Ryleh. Oopsy :)

If it's the ring, that's why she's trying to contact Ryo, to tell to use a wish.

She curses silently and tries again.

It is indeed. Just wanted to let her know it survived. :)

Hey, you keep going up by 3 and you only need to try 5 more times!

Edit: Yay!

The signal is crackly and faint, but she is finally able to get through.

"Ryo! Ryo, please be listening. There's something I need to tell you. Tam's ring. The one with the rubies on it. It's right there in front of you. Can you hear me? I don't know how long this connection will last. Ryo, use a wish. Pick up the ring and use a wish to bring him back."

Ryleh jumps at the sound of a knock on the threshold to this part of the library where she is sitting.

"Whoa! Easy, Ms Ryleh! It's just me, your good Doc Zeppler. I come in peace, I promise," he says with his usual easy-going smile.

"What's the matter - hardware malfunction there? You seem awfully upset over something like that, though..."

[EDIT]: Ninja'd - third time's a charm I guess ;)

She vaguely heard him as the connection finally crackled through, and waved him away as she tried to get the message to Ryo.

What was that? Throw it into a volcano? I'm no hobbit! XD

For a brief moment, Ryo is confused and doesn't realize what his mother-in-law is saying. The his hands blur as he grabs for the hand(what's left of it) Tamrin wore the ring on.

"I.. I wish Tamrin was still alive, and in unharmed..."
