"No use standing around outside," Eris observes. "Climb in and enjoy this scene of carnage with us," she adds to those still outside.
She turns and tries to see where the bloody tracks might lead to.

"How can I refuse such a tempting invitation" Wolfgang answers Eris sounding completely serious although he makes sure to have his crossbow ready to fire on any overgrown critter suddenly materializing out of the furniture.
Deldri |
Deldri followed Eris.
"This place looks gross..it's worse than a kobold's living room."
Deldri looks at the tracks then looks around. "I wonder what made them...they don't look like anything important."

apologies- had to finish up some work issues before I picked up my kids for their spring break.
As everyone makes their way inside the abode and continues searching the rooms Eris notices a flash of steel through the air and moves the distracted Deldri out of the way of a flying fork that ends up being stuck in the wall... everyone looks to the source of the fork and they see an ugly tiny creature who kicks over some debris he was hiding behind yelling "I HATE YOUS!”

Whilst searching the house the group discovers that getting too close to some god awful smell in the kitchen will make someone lose their lunch. The smell of rotting food and stagnant water rises from the filth in this small kitchen, mixing sickeningly with the strong, coppery scent of fresh blood. Broken jugs, upturned trays, and scraps of food litter the room. In the sink, a large bowl filled with chewed and spat out food floats in thick, bloody water in the sink. An open door to the south reveals a ransacked pantry.
Wolfgang points out a springing fork trap in the open kitchen door that would have stung someone trying to close it, and he also points out another fork trap in the shelf in the dining room.
Wolfgang Strabe |
"Eh... in good ole Ustalav we use this same kind of design to defend our larders from zombies and vampires! Damn I miss my Country!" sighs Wolfgang reminiscing about the past but still carefully avoiding the traps.
Speaker of the Scarlet Flame |
Wrapping a perfumed scarf around their face to lessen the overwhelming stench of the downstairs area. The Speaker shakes their head the Homunculus and it's bizzare actions towards them. "Some creatures are just destructive, though that hardly explains what has gone on here."
Following the others up the stairs, the Speaker looks around. It was doubtful that they would find anything still living here, but they had a duty to at least look.
Speaker of the Scarlet Flame |
Looking a their three options, the Speaker draws their Scimitar and holds it ready for any more surprises. As the curious Grippli makes their way to the door, the Sarenrite holds their breath subconsciously as if expecting trouble.

The shelves in this storeroom have been ripped off the wall and lie in a heap on the floor, along with their now-wrecked former contents—bloody linens, a broken broom, and other ruined household supplies. Past the storeroom is a tidy washroom that appears oddly untouched by the surrounding messy chaos.
Sammakko continues investigating and enters the washroom. As he moves stuff around he causes the mirror to fall off the wall, revealing a nasty, scrawled message written in blood in a childlike hand: “You know nothing! You ruined everything! Your friends hate you! I HATE YOU!”
Wolfgang Strabe |
"I feel so warm and tingly inside... let's find the poor wretch who wrote these sad words and give him all of our LOVE people! He... or she... or it... needs a BIG hug and it's our duty to provide it!" Wolfgang comments sarcastically while taking a peek inside the room

"Never seen a message like that before, sounds like someone has some anger issues. Hopefully we can find these kids before more get hurt." He heads back out to the hall and enters the door on the right.
Speaker of the Scarlet Flame |
The Speaker looks at the scrawled words of hate and shakes their head sadly, tears forming in their eyes at the obvious display of suffering.
"It seems clear a child here has deep trauma issues and has gone to a very dark place, possibly brought on by whatever has infected him. Poor soul." they lament, choosing to ignore the heartless Ustalavian.
Nodding, the Speaker follows Sam and Eris to the door on the right of the hall, their Scimitar still drawn.
GM Qwerty |
Eris leads the group through to the next room. This large bedroom is full of upturned furniture and decorations knocked from the shelves and walls. Every painting has been smashed from its frame and torn to pieces. Sitting on the otherwise-undisturbed master bed is a single journal.
Sifting through the journal reveals it belongs to Gellion’s mother. Its contents are quite mundane—simply a record of the family’s life from day to day—but every page has the message “Our son is an awful disappointment” written over it in blood, in the same childlike handwriting as discovered behind the mirror.
Spending more time reading the journal the group discovers in the most recent entries that the mother was concerned about her son’s well-being: he was spending too much time on his experiments, was not eating well, and seemed distant from his friends and parents.
Finding little else of value in the parents room the group moves to the next door and opens it. This small room contains a simple bed, desk, and chair. Thick webs cover the west end of the room, where the bed sits—and two humanoid forms appear trapped within. Sticky, purplishblack strands cling to the desk and chair on the east side of the room, except in one spot where the strange filaments have left a clear space around a small piece of metal.
Wolfgang Strabe |
"Walk into my parlor said the spider to the fly..." humms Wolfgang while scanning the room.
"Keep your eyes open: considering the size of the last critters we had to kill this one should be one big spider... big enough to kill a couple of people..." he says nodding at the lifless humanoid forms trapped in spider silk...

Peering over Wolfgang's shoulders with a frown, the Speaker looks around with horror apparent on their face. "This is abhorrent!" they say breathlessly surveying the thick strands of webbing. With a lilting chant, the Speaker waves their hand to detects auras of magic in the room beyond them.
Detect Magic
"Does anyone perchance know if those two figures have passed on? If so I could bring forth Sarenrae's purifying flames to remove the strands." they offer seriously.

well that ended quickly
The group works together to dispatch the spider. They see the two bodies on the bed not move during the fight and initially think the bodies are dead but upon further inspection they see the bodies are unconscious and covered in numerous spider bites.
As seen when they first opened the door, a 5-foot-by-10-foot square of the weird bile is located in the corner of the room. It appears to be the same bile as encountered earlier. An arrowhead sits in the center of the space free of the bile, as if the bile avoids it. A quick search of the room also reveals a small chest next to the desk which contains six flasks of acid, two flasks of alchemist’s fire, two tanglefoot bags, a potion of remove disease, a potion of lesser restoration, and three potions of cure light wounds.
