About the Gauntlet:
The Gauntlet is an annual board gaming tournament and fundraiser organized by ENGAGE (https://www. moxboardinghouse.com/engage/), the charitable giving branch of Mox Boarding House in Bellevue, Washington. To help raise funds for the 2015 Gauntlet challenge, team members Jason Bulmahn, Erik Mona, Jessica Price, and Stephen Radney-MacFarland offered to create an exciting dungeon adventure for the fans based on how much money Paizo’s team raised for Hopelink, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to combating poverty.

The Gauntlet was written as a challenging dungeon adventure where the threat of character death is very real.

Each character will receive a written letter delivered by messenger ordering them to report together to the Gauntlet Siege Castle in the hills north of Absalom on the current date. The letter states that once they open the red metal doors, they have entered the Gauntlet, and that honor demands that they not leave until they have successfully navigated its many dangers.

As a sanctioned Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild event, this is not the case; after concluding any encounter, the PCs can choose to exit the dungeon and conclude the adventure. If they do so, though, the adventure ends.

---

Disclaimers and such out of the way, I am recruiting 6 brave Pathfinders level 7-9. Due to the nature of this module I will not be accepting pregens.

We will begin on Monday Oct 16th and are unlikely to complete the adventure in time for pbp Gameday VI support.

Recruitment will be open until ~midnight at the end of Thursday Oct 12, and the party will be finalized by Friday the 13th. I plan to select a balanced party

While none of the encounters from my first read-through seem as deadly or punishing as Bonekeep, make no mistake this will be significantly longer and more difficult than an average PFS scenario.

Successful characters can expect to earn 1xp and 2pp along with level appropriate gold at the end of the adventure. Less successful characters will earn reduced rewards as appropriate.

Furthermore Bonekeep style GMing will be in effect. (Normal GMing style: when in doubt have monsters do things that will cause the players to have the most fun. Bonekeep GMing style: when in doubt have monsters do things that will most likely result in the death of characters)

Finally, in honor of the charitable nature that this module was produced, I will be donating $10 per character death to a poverty related charity of that player's choice, doubled for any character not raised from the dead.

The Gauntlet was written as a challenging dungeon adventure where the threat of character death is very real.

The Exchange

Where prey isss to be had, huntersss will hunt.

Nagaji Druid (naga aspirant archtype) level 7 with large constrictor snake companion. Melee/buff caster build.

By the 12th, there is a chance he could be level 8 depending upon FtF games in area.

Thank's for applying. Just some I'm sure there's no misunderstanding, can you confirm that you understand the potential deadliness of this module?

I may be interested. I fully understand the deadliness as I've been through every Bonekeep. There are no sub-tiers so we have no reason to not bring our highest level PCs, correct?

The Exchange

Yup! It may be a mistake, but I want to give it a go.

Liberty's Edge

I need to update my avatar for wraith, but I would dot as a level 9 vigilante. I'm fine with dangerous danger.

Sovereign Court

This sounds dangerously fun. No tier so any character level is fine?

There are no sub-tiers. It's a level 8 module, so characters level 7-9 are legal.

Yeah sure why not. If my character dies she dies.

The Exchange

Sorry, I'm going to have to withdraw. Got a new job and just can't promise to be able to post on a regular basis.

Ahh yes, I knew I had forgotten something: expected posting speed is a bit more often than once a day. While I'm not quite as crazy as I used to I will be botting people in combat when 24 hours have passed to keep things going at a rapid pace.

Grand Lodge

Warpac will sign on the dotted line, in blood if need be. He's a survivor. Unless there are oops you're dead ST like turn to stone or feeblemind, then he may NOT survive. but I'm ready to take the risk.

Liberty's Edge

Let's do this.

Liberty's Edge

I've updated Wraith to reflect her correct stats. I am good to go.

Sovereign Court

Hmmm... I could definitely be tempted by this!

Any thoughts on what you're interested in bringing? Unlike normal I am keeping an eye out for a balanced party.

Sovereign Court

Well, the PC that I have (who will be in tier) is an 8th (possibly 9th) level Occultist, with the Haunt Collector archetype, who is focused on archery (although he can do a little summoning, healing, and disease/poison removal, on the side).

Sovereign Court

My only other option is a 7th level Tengu Zen Archer, but I will need to do some digging to find him (as I haven't played him since the Shadow Lodge was retired...)

The Exchange

Thrash'll report fer duty.

I just updated this character's profile. Let me know if you have any questions. The build is somewhat involved, but in essence he's a front-line DPR guy that passes out teamwork feats like Outflank, Lastwall Phalanx, and Lookout. He's also a packrat, and buys a lot of items. Also he sunders sometimes.

Liberty's Edge

Wraith is an unarmed combatant who can also double as a face if needed.

Ooo right I'd be bringing an Alchemist whose primary gimmick is split between healing and damage because bombs are a thing.

Interest so far:

Kydeem - SelterSago - Nagaji Druid w/Snake 7/8
Vrog - Wraith - Vigilante 8
miteke - Warpac - Warpriest 7
MadScientistWorking - ? - Alchemist ?
Luke_Parry - ? - Archer 7/8
Daxter - Rayne Deverin - Slayer (Archer) 9
nightdeath - ? - ?
Le Petite Mort - Thrash Alpenstock - Melee (teamwork) 9

---

Did I miss anybody?

nightdeath, what were you looking to bring?

Shadow Lodge

Put me down as an alt, I have a couple melee guys in range if needed.

Grand Lodge

It looks like SelterSago withdrew. Other than that I think you got everyone.

Silver Crusade

I will throw my name into the gauntlet as well. I under stand the dangers.

Level 8 Life Oracle, obviously, she is a healer. But she prefers combat medic.

Silver Crusade

Amarthecthel would like to apply. I understand the danger.

Elf magus (hexcrafter) 9.

Liberty's Edge

Wraith is 9, not 8 =)

Grand Lodge

Forgot to say this earlier: I fully understands the danger of the scenario. Thrash actually went through Bonekeep back in the day.

Will our characters be aware of the increased level of danger before landing in it? If so, there are a couple of purchases Thrash would make.

The Gauntlet assumes you know you're headed to something dangerous.

I could bring the following;

Tiefling Wood Wizard lvl 9
Tengu Stealth Paladin lvl 8
Half Orc Hellknight Signifier lvl 8
Dwarf Dagger Warpriest lvl 8

I don't think there are any other 9 level arcane casters yet. That's probably your best bet.

Dark Archive

Hi I have a higly optimised level 8 wizard if needed and still a room for one more.

As planned I'll figure out who I'm taking late Thursday night after an IRL game.

Still today and tomorrow if anybody else is interested.

I a Level 9 Shadowdancer that I can throw into the ring that survived bonekeep as their resume. Just figured I'd toss my hat into the ring.

I also have a level 9 Horizon Walker/Titan Fighter who does absolutely silly amounts of damage, but he's a bit of a glass cannon so he might not be the best choice.

Sovereign Court

I would like to submit Lance Corporal Etu, level 7 Tengu Evangelist Cleric of Desna focusing on buffing and (mostly) out-of-combat healing. She also has all three Bonekeep chronicles in her repertoire, and thus the added danger of THE GAUNTLET *KRAKOOOOOM* doesn't scare her away in the slightest.

Knight of Rust - Etu Free-As-Wind - Evangelist Cleric 7 (Support)

If I do join up, this will be my first PbP, but I've been writing for a very long time so I think I'm ready for it!

Recruitment is closed. I'll have my decision up in the next few hours, with an expectation for characters to be settled and ready to start by Monday.

Alright, I've looked a bit through people's recent pbp activity as well as my foreknowledge of what abilities are conducive towards success and what sorts of things I enjoy and have chosen the following party:

Daxter - Rayne Deverin - Slayer (Archer) 9
Knight of Rust - Lance Corporal Etu - Cleric (Support) 7
Vrog - Wraith - Vigilante (Sneaky Melee) 9
Miteke - Warpac - Warpriest - (Tough Melee) 7
Ilmakis - ?Albert Gam? - Wizard (Persistent/Bard Buffs) 8
Madscientistworking - ? - Alchemist

Go ahead and report to discussion

Liberty's Edge

If you to another table I'm interested. I have a few characters in tier.

Sovereign Court

Congrats to all chosen!
