Did Orophin get his readied action or is it too late? Glitterdust's radius is wide enough.

Silver Crusade

LN Cleric 3/Wizard 1/Mystic Theurge 10

Guess that's close enough!

Strang will do his readied action, and drop his grease spell on the area denoted by the green square on the map.

Hopefully, blind, her reflex save will not be so good as the DC is only 14... and it will help prevent her from coming his way =)

If Orophin's readied action goes first, and reveals her, adjust the location as neccessary. =)

Yes, Orophin's ready action can happen. Just need him to decide where to cast it.

I drew the 10' radius template on the map (in yellow) for Orophin to use... only a limited number of places it can go if he's trying to avoid allies. Hopefully he'll catch the little bugger.

Menes listens, but doesn't hear anything that sounds like a little porcupine-humanoid falling to a greased cave floor. Whether that's because he missed with his spell, or she managed to keep her footing, he isn't sure.

A shower of golden dust covers the area, showing the pukwudgie with her hands outstretched, trying to keep from bumping into anything.

She tries to move through the grease but trips over a dead porcupine on the floor and goes sprawling. "No! This cannot be! I am the invincible mistress of death!!"

In a last-ditch effort, she places both hands on the animal she just tripped over and those nearby can feel a surge of unholy energy.

She is using Animate Dead as a spell-like ability.

The porcupine rises from the floor and moves forward to attack the nearest target. Avril's quick reflexes let her block the slam with the haft of her hammer, however.

ZPorc2 crawls 5 more feet towards Strang. =)

"Death is the domain of Anubis!" Strang responds with sudden authority. "Not you are I."

"All these creatures time on this world is over, thanks to you."

He holds his staff high, and adds. "And now so is yours!"

He says a prayer to Anubis, and calls out something in draconic, a determined look on his face.

OK, time to attempt his part in our dramatic finish! He will cast Command Undead (the spell) on the new porcupine (It gets no save). He then attempts to wrest control away and sick it on her

Draconic:

"And you too, little creature, avenge yourself on your tormentor. You can rest soon!"

He commands it to attack Marigana, using draconic so the pukwudgie knows what is happening.

Avril sidesteps the porcupine to end up yet again flanking with Dorn and slams her hammer into the prone and blind opponent. "Ah, what the hell? Every time I unsummon Cryxial in order to call upon aid to find hidden opponents they reveal themselves. I should have just stayed out and done nothing."

Swooning in pain, Orophin changes.

His body for a moment seems to melt, becoming a thing of pure life-energy, rather than the old style material it used to be made of. Light radiates out from him, shining around and illuminating the room.

energy body healing: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

And as before, I'm not sure what effect if any this would have on the spines embedded in him. As he is as -7 at the moment, any skill or attack roll he makes is more or less an auto fail.

I don't think the quills will be affected by energy body. They're not precision damage or bleed, which elementals are immune to.

"Nooo... kill you... dance on your bones..." the pukwudgie groans as Dorn's axe hacks into her, spilling blood, but scratching him with her quills. 2 damage to Dorn, DC 16 Fort save vs. poison.

Then Avril silences her with a grisly thud of her hammer crushing the foul monster's spine.

With that, the creator of so much misery and death lies broken and dying herself.

Out of combat. I'll post further information about dealing with the quills in a subsequent post. If you feel like reviving Marigana to try to question her, let me know, otherwise I'll assume you let her bleed out to death.

Yes, yes you did. Only remaining conditions to deal with are the fort save for Dorn and the quills for Orophin. I'll roll Fort saves for Dorn to speed things up.

1d20 + 7 + 2 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 2 + 5 = 25 He's good.

DC 10 Heal or Knowledge(nature) check:
Removing the quills will take a full-round action and deal 1d4 points of damage for each quill. If any of the quills are in for a full minute, they will work their way in further and do an additional 1d2 damage, and require a DC 10 strength check to remove.

A faint groan is heard from further back in the cave. Riddywipple flutters over and exclaims, "Oh! It's that gnome you were looking for, I think, and still alive! But, just barely. Do you have anything to treat poison?"

Can take a 10 and get a 21 on a heal check. (23 if I use the healer's kit)

"Hold up, Orophim. Hold still." Strang says, coming over to the man's aid.

"The more you move, the deeper they dig in.

He takes a moment to examine the quills and where they are, shaking his head.

"I'm afraid this might hurt a fair bit." He concludes.

Can a heal check not remove them? Or at least lessen the damage from removing them? I've got a scalpel! =)

He glances back towards the others. "If someone is alive back there, someone bring them over here so we can get a look. I don't think her quills were quite the same as these ones from the porcupines. The ones that struck me came right out. They seemed mostly designed as a delivery system for the toxins. If whoever's back there is poisoned, we'd best deal with that quickly, before we have more cadavers animating."

He turns back to Orophim and quickly pulls out a leather wrapped bundle and with a quick practiced movement, unrolls it to reveal a host of surgical tools from wicked-looking drills and saws, to strange clamps and sharp blades of varying sizes and shapes. All of them seem impeccably clean and well-used and cared for. They almost gleam in the light of the cavern.

Yay, I finally get to use my surgical tools! =)

He pulls a small scalpel from one end, then goes to work with a calm practiced precision.

Alright, lets go about removing the quills! Am hoping a heal skill will help reduce the damage. Will just take 10's for 21's throughout if it helps.

He can channel as he goes to heal small bits of damage... then so can Orophim to heal more =) Or he can do his positive energy elemental thing again. I think we're covered!

He had 7 of them in him... I don't think we can get them all before a minute has passed... but we might be able to tell which ones are in deeper and prioritize... /shrug.

He takes a moment during the process to glance over at Dorn (or Zac, or whoever else is nearby and not being immediately helpful)

"Creatures that die due to the poison, come back as simple animations." He says. "I don't know how long it takes... or how many of the creatures in here died to her toxins... but it might be a good idea to make sure they don't come back after we've gone."

"Simple dismemberment should do the trick. These sorts of minor reanimations typically require intact bodies."

"Ouch..." winces the 'bard'.

The Good Doctor probably notices that aside from his temporary elemental form, Orophin seems to have some other physical disability. Not obvious from the surface, but when pulling out the spines, either the assimar is a wimp, or that affect him more than they should.

Orophin has the consumed curse as an Oracle.

And yes, between channels, cure spells, elemental form, Orophin should be able to survive this and help others back up to full hp as well

You can use the heal skill to determine which are the deepest and take those out first, avoiding any further damage and a strength check. Damage will still be done, but I don't think there seems like any reason to worry about it, for the reasons you mentioned.

Strang notices Orophim's reactions with interest.

"Obvious hyper-sensitivity." He observes, as he works. "From the quills...?" He starts to ask, before realizing it is a pre-existing condition.

"Hyperalgesia?" He asks. "Very rare. Certainly not the sort of ailment that meshes well with the adventuring life."

He smiles slightly.

Dorn takes a few more furious swings at the porcubody on the ground, rendering Marigana definitely not-revivable. Eventually his vision clears and he stands there, panting and blood-spattered.

Dorn stands there, catching his breath and glaring sidelong at Strang and his many small, sharp tools. When the gnome is brought up, Dorn is happy to put more distance between Strang and himself; he sheathes his axe and tromps through the cave over to the unfortunate gnome. He's hardly a medic, but... if the little one's suffering poison... Dorn uncorks his second antitoxin and pours it down the injured gnome's mouth. Then he picks the small body up easily enough despite his post-rage crash, bringing Dijjit back warily to the others-- warily mostly because of Strang.

"Well, heal her up," the dwarf grumbles. He adds on suspiciously, "Don't go cuttin' on her, though, you hear?"

Dorn's actions makes this incredibly hard to roleplay. Avril would not have stuck around to hack at a body instead of running to rescue who we came here for.

Once the dragon mentions the poor researcher Avril runs over to the poor gnome. She touches her and mutter a quick incantation to ward her against poison of the evil creature. Right around the time Dorn arrives to pour his flask down her throath she sheepishly says. "We should probably carry her over to someone who can actually heal her." She helps carry the gnome over to Strang. "She's out cold, she needs your help quickly doctor. It would be sad if we came this way only to fail at the finish line."

Protection from evil should work since the poison originates from someone evil. Also the worst Orophin can suffer is a tiny bit extra damage, while the gnome is most likely suffering heavy con damage, so should get healed asap. She's unlikely to make any saves even if we give her +8 which we would get if someone succeeds the heal check. Do I rem wrong that we got a scroll of neutralize poison?

Silver Crusade

LN Cleric 3/Wizard 1/Mystic Theurge 10

"We will have to get the quills out of her first." He replies to Dorn, not noticing the implied threat.

"Definitely poisoned." He confirms, after examining her. "I can keep it at bay, but we will need to neutralize it eventually."

he will treat her for poisons as best he can (still taking a 10 for a 21), then spends a few minutes to learn Delay Poison in his empty 2nd level cleric spot, and cast that on her. Will last 5 hours, and should get us back to Riddywhipple's place at least

Oh... say... how much are potions or scrolls of neutralize poison? If they're 500 gp or more, and we get her back, Strang could spring for a potion of neutralize poison (assuming we can buy one from Ignizzi) and that would qualify him for one of his faction card items =)

Dijjit looks slightly better after having the Neutralize Poison potion poured down her throat, but she is still unconscious. Further examination reveals she is suffering badly from the damage of the poison, but she is no longer in immediate danger of death.

Healing and rest as the party returns to Ignizi's cottage brings her around, and by the time they reach their destination, she has awakened and begun to speak, weakly and with many pauses, with her rescuers.

Ignizi casts several spells and brews some medicines that bring Dijjit back to health, and thanks the pathfinders for their help in rescuing her. Riddywipple returns from doing a flying survey of the forest, and reports that most of his closest friends have been killed or left, and asks if any of you have need of a traveling companion, and volunteers his services.

After spending a short time recuperating from their injuries, the pathfinders set out to return to Magnimar to report the success of their mission, as well as their victory over the foul pukwudgie Marigana.

This is the end of the scenario, although of course if anyone wants to do any more RP to finish things out, you're welcome to do so.

I'll note on your Chronicle that you achieved a faction goal, Avril. I personally just add the faction goals my PCs have received to their profiles, in my case by putting them into the Personal tab of the Herolab file. I play a mix of face-to-face and play-by-post, so I also check the box on my card, but if you only play play-by-post you could easily just keep it in your profile information.
