Background:
Hailing originally from a small village just outside of Eto in Osirion, Menes Strang has always had a fascination with death. Luckily, Osirion does not want for people knowledgeable of such things, and at an early age he traveled to Sothis to learn. His interests quickly expanded to include the undead. Unfortunately, most of those from whom he could learn, were members of the church of Pharasma... who had only one answer to the state of undeath: destruction. It proved to be very hard to learn about it, when it kept getting destroyed. But Pharasma had not always been chief amongst the burial gods of Osirion. Menes began to study some of the ancient Osirion gods, and soon learned of another who long ago held sway, with just as much influence as Pharasma herself: Anubis. Over the years that followed, he became a devout follower of the ancient god Anubis, one of only a handful, and his study into death, of all kinds, flourished. His quest for knowledge, into death and undeath, is purely intellectual. He has no particular penchant for the creating or commanding of such things, nor a desire to unleash them on the world. But in order to understand something, one must study it, and so for that reason, he continues to do so. Eventually, he traveled to Absalom to join the Pathfinder Society, who's travel and penchant for recording all they came across, held untold potential to expand his knowledge base. He has taken up a side job in a small temple to Anubis in Absalom, working as a healer for those in need, though more for the income and experience, then for any particular philanthropic reasons. His skills and knowledge have been just as well suited to working on the living, as they are on the dead.
Description:
Doctor Menes Strang is a tall, Osirion man, usually wearing the elaborate ornamental robes common to priests of his home country. The symbol of his god, a jackal head, is prominently displayed. Somewhere, in his family line, flows the blood of a celestial entity known as a Peri, and some of this has become dominant in Dr. Strang, although it is not immediately obvious. Although officially he might be considered one of the aasimar, he is not aware of this, believing himself in all ways to be human... albeit one with very good night vision. The man himself, relishes knowledge of all sorts, taking any opportunity to spread it to others, as he assumes every one else is just as interested. This has the effect of making him seem more like a professor then an adventurer, and it is not at all unusual for him to start talking about the historical or biological significance of a place or creature before pondering its threat level. Although a decent sort, he has trouble differentiating bad from good when the chance to learn something is concerned. Perhaps a consequence of the celestial influence in his bloodline. Often, he seems more concerned with what can be learned, than what the repercussions of that learning are. He firmly believes that in order to overcome something, one must first understand it.
