DM Kludde |
This is the discussion thread for Weaponin the Rift. Welcome all!
I'll be on holiday starting Dec 18, until Dec 27. It's still a month until then, and about half of my games (particularly the ones with fast players...) finish in that time.
I therefore present two options:
1) Start the game after Dec 27th. This is the default, since that's what I originally advertised
2) Start the game now. Upside: you'll start now (and I may be able to run a third game within gameday for you), downside: if we don't finish by Dec 18, it's radio silence for a week :(
Parallel to that, there's another choice to be made hard mode. The scenario offers a hard mode, which features adjustments to every encounter that make the scenario considerably harder. Hard mode gives no benefits by itself (though some boons are known to interact with it).
So please also state your preference for:
A) No hard mode (this is the default choice)
B) Hard mode.
Ruprecht Antillious |
I'm scared of hard mode after a couple recent experiences on regular mode, lol. I'd much prefer regular mode. I'm open to start whenever.
Basalte |
I have a strong preference for no hard mode unless we're all at the peak of the subtier (6xlvl.6 or 6xlvl.9) and have a balanced group with no suboptimal PC. Yes, it is that brutal.
I could start now, but my only two available characters in tier are my paladin archer (who got my GM credit for Weapon in the Rift, so she's a no-go) and my oread fighter. I'll gladly take the oread, and he's probably the most appropriate since he isn't a very intellectual character and thus will only be in the ride to whack the baddies, which is very suitable since I won't help the team with the riddles, having already GMed this scenario.
I'm fine starting soon, preferably on Monday if possible (since I have a RL game I intend to play Basalte in. I also wouldn't mind starting later, once the flow of the PbP Gameday 3 games (the ones that started on Nov 1st) has slowly died down.
Elena Rasputin |
I'm fine with starting now, or later. Either is fine with me
since there's no added benefit to playing hard mode..I'm not in favor of it..but I'm willing to go along is everyone wants to (which so far they don't seem to be).
DM Kludde |
I think that pretty much settles the discussion: we'll start on monday, in 'normal' mode.
I'd much rather have a scenario that is fun without suboptimal characters, if you'd ask me.
Checked in so far:
- Deane/??
- Gerald/Ruprecht
- Revvy/Elena
- Lithrac/Basalte (for now)
Waiting for:
- Kyshkumen/ ??
Open spot:
- ??/??
Basalte |
Me too DMK, I wasn't implying the opposite, just that hard mode becomes near-impossible if everyone isn't bringing his A-game.
It's a shame because I would have much preferred to bring my melee bard (Rysalius), but the game he's in has barely finished the first fight, and the posting rate tells me we won't be finished on January 1st...
Shadow Lion |
Sorry busy day yesterday. Not that it matters but I am for starting now and non hard mode. This scenario can be rather deadly even on normal.
Basalte |
I decided to play another PC this weekend since Basalte got his 2nd RotRL credit CS and is now level 6. I'm ready to start whenever!

Know. History 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
The elf in the corner remains silent. The only sounds he made was a slight tinkling of his numerous vials at his belt, bumping into each other. He also wielded an impressive looking spear kept at his side.
Shadow Lion |
Sorry running a bit behind. Here are Shadow's purchases between adventures.
+1 Adamantine Katana 5050g
MW Alchemical silvered Lucerne Hammer 495g
Basalte |
Since I've already GMed this scenario, Basalte won't help you on that riddle. Good luck!
Shadow Lion |
Ditto.

As long as I'm not the only one who hasn't GMed the scenario.
Elena Rasputin |
I haven't GM-ed it (yet) ..but that doesn't mean I can solve the puzzle ;)
Only thing I came up with so far is from the third hand out where some of them mentioned numbers;
Fourth: -Second battle
Seventh: - Seventh Church
Ninth: - Nine drops of blood/ 9 knights (mention 9 twice)
Tenth: - no number..so my reasoning doesn't work here, it mentions personally..so maybe 1?
But that doesn't work for the second handout..so maybe we need to put the acts in the right order
Or we need to link the acts to the story in the first hand-out,
It mentions the city of Kantaria at the end of the story..and in the 10th act, so maybe it ends with a 10..but I haven't been able to link the rest of the acts yet
Anyone have an ideas?
DM Kludde |
I'm fine with those knowing the answer to the puzzle dropping small hints.
Note that the first handout (the one without the numbers) is the 'code' on the door that must be solved. The other two handouts are excerpts from the ten acts of Iomedae, and they come from Basalte's memory (so they're not written anyhwere in this chamber)
Basalte |
If clues are allowed, I'll simply say this: Don't forget the wheels have a 0 (so representing 10 will be 1 on the first wheel, 0 on the second), as well as a blank slot. This way, you don't have to input four numbers for each line. Lastly, all of the eleven acts appear once and only once each.

This is the big showdown for the Weapon in The Rift game. Can I already have PFS#'s and day job rolls for reporting purposes?
I'll be on holiday starting Dec 18, and return on Dec 27. That'll give plenty of time (particularly at this rate!) to do another game for gameday 3. I still have 'Cairn of Shadows' lying on the shelf, that I haven't run yet. I can do that one, or any other 5-9 game you'd be interested in. Let me know!
Basalte |
PFS #76446-9
Scarab sages
No day job
Definitely interested in Cairn of Shadows, though with another character, depending on subtier played.

Day Job Craft Alchemy 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20
I'd be up for that game with one of my characters, DM.

No day job
Unfortunately I have to start scaling back on my PbPing so I am unable to play in the next one.

DM Kludde |
I've added Cairn of Shadow to the recruitment spreadsheet, and reserved spots for the three of you who wanted to join.
Also, I've created chronicles here. As ever, don't hesitate to give a shout if something is wrong.
Basalte |
Thanks for GMing this scenario for us! As always, I enjoyed it thoroughly!
Elena Rasputin |
I just noticed that my chronicle has Ruprechts PFS nr (12445) with my character number (2)..most likely a copy&paste error...but just checking to see if it's reported correctly..and if possible if it could get changed on the chronicle?
And thanks for running btw ;)
DM Kludde |
You're right. I've updated the chronicle and informed the VC doing the reporting.
Ruprecht Antillious |
Thank you for running, DM! I'm going to level Ruprecht, and I'll get him signed up asap!
Ruprecht Antillious |
I'm on my iPad, so for some reason, I can't get Ru added to the list, but he is leveled and ready for the game whenever you are!
