Thread for #3-08: Foundation's Price and #3-12: Fury's Toll

If you find something definitive, I will definitely use it in the future.

I am good with doubling on Attack rolls, as those are more of an active process. The results are Miss, regular damage or Double damage.

Trying to do this on a save changes the possible outcomes. Critical Success equates to a miss, with no damage at all. A Regular Success would give, half damage? But what is the process for calculating that half damage? Roll the prescribed dice and divide by two? reduce the dice to half value (d6 becomes d3, or 2d6 becomes 1d6)? Failed save is regular damage. Critical failure would then give Double damage, which I assume gets done by rolling the regular damage and doubling it.

Here's a thread that talks about the problem and lack of solution.

I made a mistake earlier in this combat, and said I was entering Crane Stance. I rebuilt Highwire when moving to Level 2, and just realized they don't have Crane Stance anymore, but the Embers Stance instead (which I wouldn't have stepped into against a fire mephit). None of the benefits of Crane Stance came into play, so it has no impact on how things played out, but I just wanted to alert you to the error.

No problem. We all make mistakes. Thanks for being up front about it.

Scragatha is becoming more and more sarcastic as we go it seems. It must be the heat.

Apparently, the Halving/doubling persistent damage on results of attack rolls or saving throws just came out in the errata with the Core Rulebook third printing.

What a timely errata update. Per the PFS rules errata changes take place for the next scenario I think? Thanks for the info!

NOTE: I need to have this table reported two weeks from today, so please post daily if at all possible. We have a couple of Encounters left in the scenario.

Happy to try a +4 intimidate or +5 'rassle. Does the two actions mean we roll twice?

Two actions means it takes two actions out of your three per round to make one disable attempt. (Typically at least, let me know if I'm misinterpreting)

Scragatha is correct. A disable attempt takes two of your three actions in a turn.

People spotted the Haunt, so you are getting a chance to disable before it actually triggers. The Haunt also rolled really low initiative, so it all made sense.

Uh oh, near same time post. Looks like the party is split now! Too bad, I'm leaving it the way it is.

Who will follow the loveable but annoying goblin?

Who will follow the handsome and very athletic gnome?

Stay tuned.

Edit: aww you changed it!

Rowsh: The meekest of the ifrits, Rowsh wants to remain in Kazhlik until it’s safe, and to be left alone to provide for his companions. You can calm him with a DC 17 Diplomacy check, help him provide better food with a DC 13 Farming Lore check, or provide other tips for living off the land with a DC 15 Nature or Survival check.

This might be a stretch, but if you know about grape harvesting for wine and whatnot, it could work. Can I sub in Cooking or Alcohol Lore for the Farming Lore? Someone of Galindier's background would have to know basic farming techniques to get where he's at with his particular focus.

Otherwise, I can assist with the Slayse checks of either Crafting or Warfare.

Ra'uf has at least one skill with each where a 9 or better on the die will influence them, so he will wait to see how things go before rolling.

With a reasonable explanation, I am always happy when players want to try creative solutions. I am going to say you can use the Cooking or Alcohol Lore, but the DC will be 15 instead of the 13 for Farming Lore, since it is not as directly applicable.

Fair?

I did a little metagaming to help us speed things up:

Two of us have very limited skills that can help:
Ankhef: Medicine +7, should work on Yandrada
Galindier: Cooking/Alcohol Lore +4 or Survival +4, should work on Rowsh

Highwire: Should go with Warfare Lore +7 and Slayse.

Scragatha: Will switch to Yandrada and use Society +8 for her second roll

Zantal and Ra'uf: both have very good Diplomacy +7/+8 which can work on all three of the ifrits. So they can fill in where we fail.

Obviously we can change things up depending on how the rolls start going.

Cool. You have another check, and it is still possible for the party to befriend all three ifrit dwarves.

We are about to wrap up, so if you want to have me put your downtime on your chronicle sheet, go ahead and do that here.

Sure thing.

Alcohol Lore, downtime: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Crafting Cat's eye elixirs: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

DC 16, so close to a crit!

Thread for #3-08: Foundation's Price and #3-12: Fury's Toll

Scragatha, I don't use the crafting rules very often, so correct me as necessary as I walk through this.

Crafting allows you to create a batch of four alchemical items. Cost of 4 Cat's Eye Elixirs is 28 Gold (7 GP ea) and you take 4 days to create the batch, expending 1/2 the cost as materials (14 GP). You can use the additional four days to reduce the cost, but I am having trouble finding out how much the cost reduces per day.

I am just trying to figure out what text to put on your Chronicle. I a thinking a statement like "Successfully crafted four Cat's Eye Elixirs at a cost of ????"

Horizon Hunters

CN Female Goblin (Unbreakable) Alchemist 3| HP 40/40| AC 19 | F +9 R +10 W +5 | Perc +5 | Stealth +8 | Speed 25ft | Reagents 0:7 | Active Conditions: None |

I'm going to spell it out here to make sure I'm doing it right too.

Since the cat's eye elixirs are level 2 items the task level is 2 (DC 16)
I'm trained in crafting
It was a success
So I reduce the cost by 3sp per day.
0.3 * 4 = 1.2 gp reduced

I can continue spending downtime to keep reducing it (down to 14gp minimum)

So you can put something like

"Successfully crafting Cat's Eye elixirs, spending 14gp and reducing remaining cost by 1.2 gp"

If that's too much text, "Successfully crafting Cat's Eye elixirs 14gp spent, 1.2gp saved."

Reporting for the session is complete (at least from what I can see.) I sent out the Chronicle Sheets a few minutes ago.

My bcc copies did end up in a SPAM filter, so please check there, but do let me know if you cannot find it, and we will find a way to get it to you.

Thanks again for playing,

I am going to show my ignorance about Discord. How can I DM someone if I can't find their USERID on a server we have in common? I am one a lot of servers, but it seems like I have to search for each person I want to DM on every server where I am a member until I find them?

What am I missing?
