That said, I don't know that anything she told you before or after the action should make you unhappy with her. She's only trying to show that you could take another tack, and therefore learn something. You are in a school after all...

Ikto doesn't want to make an enemy of her, and might even still want to be a friend, but he no longer trusts Esi's judgement or teaching skills as much as he did. It is his hope she just had a very off day.

I loved the interactions with Esi personally, and I was not offended, ICly or OOCly, in any way. Iovia took umbrage with Esi giving them an option, then yelling at them for using that option. She felt that specifically was hypocritical. I hope that came across in my post.

But, unlike Ikto - and I do understand his reaction - Iovia respects Esi more, as Esi stood her ground.

I do agree with what Za Minyahil said in their post that the task was presented as time-sensitive, which does create an impression that spending a few hours in a library was not a realistic option.

On a side note, while I do not know if this is possible, given that we have two prepared casters will full spell-list access, having a hint as to what the next days challenge might be would help with spell prep choices.

Yeah, Za Minyahil's offended reaction comes from feeling that Esi is patronizing the group, especially given the distinction between "peaceful" and "nonviolent" seemed to be a bit of goalpost-moving. Plus, as Za Minyahil was particularly embarrassed by the affair, being told "you did it wrong" shortly afterwards feels like adding insult to injury (given they have a bit of a superiority complex themselves :P ).

We can assume that Ikto presents his Healer's Toolkit to all the wounded PCs who would not heal normally over night. So far, after the Night's Rest, HP totals are:

M'Baba 15/17
Ntuni 15/22
Za Minyahil 13/19.

Everyone else is full, or will be with Night's Rest. You can attempt Medicine checks on them (DC15) to restore more HP with the kit. I think Iovia had one Heal spell left before the night's rest as well if needed.

I will move the story forward, but please LMK if or how you heal more than the overnight amount.

I have one font spell left - I had been saving it in base there was trouble during the gremlin release. I could use that as a three-action heal for all three wounded people.

Healing: 1d8 ⇒ 2

Then I can do Treat Wounds on N'tuni and Za Minyahil to try and get them up to full.

N'tunti: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23.

Success for More healing: 1d8 ⇒ 8

Za Minyahil: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

But, not a success there. Sorry.

That should get M'baba and Ntuni to full, and get Za Minyahil to 15/19.

Okay. if Iovia's actions allowed, and if Ikto could take a crack at Za Minyahil and they were willing ...

Hey, folks. Wanted to check in and mention that I have a partner coming to visit for the weekend. I may be a bit slow posting, but should be able to manage something after when I have a few moments to myself :)

I loved this wolf fang item. It's a pity I don't focus on strength/trip. Also, I love the idea of this encounter. The obvious plan is going for the mushrooms first then tracing back. Now we have to do everything else with a penalty. It was too obvious, to the point that we should have foreseen some sort of trouble. I think we failed the Cascade Bearers test. Maybe we succeed on the task, but we fail to "think outside the box".

I don't think we've failed at all. The task is to get all three types of items and bring them back. We may end up failing, if we can't find the other two item types, but we are not beat yet :)

Also, sorry for not making posts. Been dealing with house emergencies all weekend. But, I should be back to normal posting in the next day or so.

I am feeling a bit under the weather, so am likely to rest this evening instead of posting. should return to regular cadence tomorrow

I love how Ntuni's always comes in with the plain common sense. Leave it to a bunch of wizards to overthink magical solutions to basic instructions. :P

@GM: You've asked us to settle the secondaries before the primary, but Ikto probably misunderstood and rolled the primary already. How do you want to proceed?

An easy fix could be to shift Ikto from primary to secondary, perhaps changing his Nature to Craft. If so, Ntuni could be the primary.

Nature is not a called for secondary support roll. We will just stand on Ikto's primary and see if there is any support that helps lower the DC.

I'm guessing I'll be a secondary caster. Which skill should I use (so I'm not stepping on anyone else's toes)? I'm trained in Occultism (+4), Intimidation (+3) and Crafting (+4).

I used Intimidation as my skill, since I don't think anyone else is trained in it, while I suspect someone else can supply the Occultism roll.

I'm ready to move on. Think we should sell the tokens.
