I presume this is the status bar the DM referred to. How do I find it and work with it?

Well, this has been interesting. Thank you for letting me in. So, I know the game is over, but what happens now? Is there something I put on Garikai's character sheet?
Chronicles complete
Garikai, you can download the Chronicle for your PC and print and attach it to your character sheet. It has a section where you track your character's XP and gold - all of that gets done on the Chronicle sheet, not on your character sheet. This way, your next GM can look at the Chronicles and see where everything came from (if they want).
The items on the Chronicle are now added to your list of "always available" items for this character - see the Guide to Organized Play for details on what stuff you can buy.
