SLIDE 9
Mireille gasps as Sanja and Shera relay the bad news. "Hurry, there is a secret exit over here. Marked on map S Lets get out of here. If we can sneak past them, or get past them without them seeing me, well, all the better. I have a place nearby that I can use as a safehouse. Get me there, please. Marked on map, T Don't fight them unless you have to, I don't want to see you get in as much (or more) trouble as I am in!!!
For this event, you will be controlling Mireille (RED), 30'Speed. She fights only to defend herself, and wants to remain out of sight of the guards as much as she can (she's trying to escape unseen, not give herself away!

![]() |

"Very well. I suppose it would do the Society's reputation no good to cause harm to the local secret police." Min mutters. "Why not a distraction? A few of us who are less than subtle can stage a bar brawl or something suitably flashy while the rest of you smuggle the woman out to her safehouse? Rendez-vous at the Museum tomorrow morning?"

![]() |

"If the brawl fails to keep their attention, I can call upon Erastil to send a stag running through the streets. That might cause them to look away." Shera looks out the window again.

![]() |

"Quickly then, Cornelia will you lead the way? You are the lightest on your feet."
Sajna motions for Mireille to follow the investigator.
"I can follow if you feel you'll need some extra protection."
Sajna draws her kukri as she moves to stand beside the exit.

![]() |

Amaranlon rolls his eyes. "Which window can I see them through? I'll just put them to sleep. I can slow them down for a while after that with another spell."
No, but really, if possible Amarandlon can cast sleep on them to knock out a few. Can follow up with hypnotism if need be to slow them down.

![]() |

What direction are the guards coming from?
It doesn't really matter where they are coming from, they will be here on station before you can do much about it.

![]() |

Ah, I was trying to figure out if there was enough time to grab her and swim away, so that answers that.
Roldala wedges her crowbar into the front door as a makeshift bar.
Won't hold for long, but might help slow things down.

![]() |

Ah, I was trying to figure out if there was enough time to grab her and swim away, so that answers that.
From the front door, most likely no. From the secret door and taking a roundabout way, you can try it....

![]() |

BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG! The doors rattles with each pounding of the fist. "Open up Mireille, I know you're in there," the guard bellows between blows!
Map updated to show at least 1 guard at the door. I'm giving players until tonight to plan/move/act. After that time they will be botted to go with the group. Please make sure you move your token to where you are planning on going...

![]() |

Amarandlon strides to a window, peeking out beyond the curtain. "Take her out the back," he says in a low voice. "I will attempt to spell them and then delay them further here." He begins to move his hands and chant muttering in a low voice.
I don't see windows marked on the map, so just putting myself in what seems like a reasonable place...then using sleep on the guards! Assuming I get it off, it's a DC 17 Will save.

I fail to see what your intent here is. Your group is in combat. Amarandlon's spell started combat. They are going to be coming in the door (or around, or something, who knows?) There is nothing to be gained here by 'feinging' a fight with a fellow companion.....

Cornelia rushes towards the rear door with Mireille in tow. 'That foolish elf ruined our element of surprise.' She spots the nearby building. "Quickly, behind here!"

I have an idea on how to possibly distract the guards if we need. Cornelia can use Disguise Self to make her look just like Mireille and led them on a chase away from the party. Once I get a moment out of their view, I drop the disguise and Bluff my way out the rest. What do you guys think?

![]() |

That's my play! I want them to think it was a stolen spell gone awry, not an intentional act towards them. I'd like them to get caught up in stopping the world's weakest slap fight between wizards so they don't think to continue after their actual target.

The GREEN guard forces open the door (no one did lock it) and runs right into a snarling, nasty looking half-orc. "Help!" the guard screams as he swings with his sap.
Sap: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
However, in his nervous disposition running into such an unexpected person, his swing was more reflex than actually aimed, and misses badly.
The RED guard steps up into the gap between GREEN and the inn wall after hearing his partner screaming for assistance. He also swings at the half-orc.
Sap: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 4 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 non-lethal damage
Roldala, distracted from the first attack doesn't see this one coming in, and it hits her squarely in side. It doesn't hurt much, but it gets her attention.
Finally, the BLUE guard, also hearing the commotion and yelling of his companions enters the frey, and also targets the snarling and dangerous looking half-orc.
Sap: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 4 = 12
But, he misses as well.

Nice work on the bluff test. They came in with non-lethal weapons instead of lethal ones, as they aren't sure what is going on, better to knock out and not kill...

"Hold now, Roldala!" Amarandlon cries as he steps smartly away from the door. "There's no need to attack the good guards...I'm sure that this is all a misunderstanding. Let's talk..."
Assuming that Roldala appears likely to listen if the spell works:
"Friends! Let us cease this intemperate violence and begin to pursue a path more suited toward harmony. I have little doubt that we can all work together to resolve this--relatively minor, when all is said and done--arcane dispute and grievous misunderstanding due to my experimentation. My name is Amaranthis Svetholian, and my companions and I have journeyed far to reach your fair city, whose spires rise up toward the very clouds themselves to cling, wisp-like, to the ether..." Ok, mark GREEN at -14. Of course, they WON'T listen to reason now, period. Blood has been shed. I figured that with everyone else trying to bluff and bs their way out, well, you would let it lapse so as not to anger them more.

She'll be happy to stop if the hypnosis lands, though that's probably more likely if she fights, since I'm guessing after resisting a sleep spell they probably wouldn't want to calmly stand there while a robed elf waved his hands at them :p
Roldala seems to curl in on herself, showing her experience at taking beatings as she hunches her shoulders to take the strikes on muscle and rigid bone. Bruises fade. A sap won't stop me unless they dislocate something or knock me out.
She swings her scimitar at them in a grim warning of what's to come if they press this.

You shouldn't have been standing in front of the door ready to attack them... They were entering because of the magic users "fighting", which is why they came in with non-lethal weapons, to disperse the fighting, not to kill. You standing there poised to attack changed their attitudes quickly....
